they have the mentality of a governmental agency
mistakes have been everywhere ever since the time I ordered;

1. never sent me an email to tell me modem was being shipped
2. shipped modem by different couriere than agreed to and in my notes on their computer (my receiver can only receive via Purolator, not FedEx)
3. shipped modem to wrong address
4. tons of DNS issues, so much so that I have to "hard code" an old ISP's DNS numbers into each computer - I have emailed and spoken to "customer service" (oxymoron for Aniakst) and was told to "quit their service if I didn't like it." This was reiterated by a manager. Still no resolution.
5. they charged me for upgrading from 512 to 1000 during my 2 month "free period." Even though I was told by "customer service" that there would be no charge.
6. I cannot attach to my ftp site and no answers from "customer service."

They are slow and not very smart.

Bottom line; "Shut up and pay."
They remind me so very, very much of Canada Post.

I never thought I would ever say this, but I yearn for the days of Rogers cable.
Rogers stopped laying cable about 600 meteres south of me.
Otherwise I would NOT be a;
Telesat customer (division of BCE - Bell Canada Enterprises)
ExpressVU customer
Bell long distance and local
Bell Mobility

And the just don't care at all.
I'm seriously considering moving down the road to get away from Bell's monopoly. (hand up my ass)
I really hope Bell goes out of business. They just don't deserve my money, but they are the ONLY game in town, for now....

For ANYONE getting Anikast, look twice before you jump. It's a long way down into Hell.

The new ka-band Internet service?

Can you switch your service to Xplornet? Would they be any better?

yes, the new ka-band service
can't switch
minimum 1 yr. contract, higher monthly fee, no 2 month free initial service

typical BELL type mentality
the customer is just a necessary evil

no wonder bell is getting killed in the marketplace and I hope they go down soon - they deserve to

Have you considered telling the cable company youd pay for them to put in another 600m of cable? Might be cheaper than sat service, definitly cheaper than moving!

Eastlink ran cable up my dead-end road and stopped 1200 feet from my driveway.

It remained that way for FOUR L O N G YEARS!

It finally was finished this past spring, allowing me onboard.

Xplornet is Anikast (We pay for Xplornet and my DNS is through anikast.net). And in my opinion, Xplornet is WORSE. Here's why:

We were assured there would be no FAP before signing anything. Guess what? Ive been FAP'd twice today
Theyre customer service is non existant. They lead you in circles telling you to 'call back once you unplug your modem'
They blame everything on your computer
Upload speeds are HORRIBLE (5k/s on the 1mbit down package, which promises 256kbit upload)
Its a ripoff. 110 plus tax a month to be jerked around with and to have your service cut off every so often
Games just dont work. Even games I could play fine on dialup cut out every so often.
Its not stable. If I leave a download on, in five minutes it will be cancelled

If you have any questions for me, shoot me an email at deathbyfire69@hotmail.com Personally, I would highly recommend AGAINST Xplornet/Anikast

anyone interested in buying a ANIKAST Surfbeam modem or the actual ANIKAST satellite itself or BOTH? I just got high speed in my area and no longer need it. Only been used 3 months and they are both in awesome condition.

THANKS!
