As of tonight CSR/XM has activated some of the terristrial repeaters in the Toronto region. They are pretty weak thus far (im only getting 1 of 3 bars) but its nice to see they are working on it.

Since I cant edit the post. Just a note that the repeater appears to have been shutdown now :(

I really wanted it to stay - driving in downtown would be so much nicer.

That is a good very good sign. Sounds like CSR is starting to build up the repeater network. Based on my experience in Ottawa, they will continue to test so the repeaters in TO may come and go. Hopefully, they will be on 24/7 soon

So we have heard of repeater signals in Toronto and Ottawa..anywhere else ??

I live in the downtown North York area (Yonge/empress) and noticed that a tall rental apt building (The one above Sheppard Centre) has recently installed a weird looking antenna on top of their building. The building is located on the east side of Doris ave, at Sheppard East. I remember someone saying that some repeaters will be placed along the 401 corridor, so could this be one?

I just ordered my xm and will get it delivered on monday. I live an hour away from Detroit and work in windsor, so hopefully I am lucky right away with a good signal.

Does anyone know if the XM Canada repeaters block the XM USA service in Toronto? Meaning - if you have a grey market receiver will it experience drop outs in Toronto because the repeaters block the US service.

The XM (either USA or CDN) repeaters just repeats what it hears from the satellites with no blocking or filtering. I have a grey market radio and the only thing the repeaters have done is given me much better reception downtown...no loss of content. Since XM Canada has gone to the effort and expense to install the local repeaters, it is just another reason for me to convert from grey to white:cool:

Well, I live here in Hamilton and I know that there are repeaters around this area (I think on the mountain). My satellite reception in my car with an Andiovox is poor on sat and because of the repeaters in the area, is the only reason I can receive XM at all.
I'll watch the signal from the menu option and the terrisal signal is always the strongest for me here (thats with an external antenna). If I use my XM2GO, the sat signal is very strong in the car (crappy Audiovox system).

CND PACKRAT i was in brantford today and i have the Andiovox and i could not get a lock on the signal it kept bouncing around from 1 to 3 and then 0. i went to the sat aming display and the picture of the sat showed 1 then 0 bars has this happen to you and is there a way to fix this. by the time i got back to hamilton mountain all ways ok.
