Visions has the Samsung HLR4264 on sale for just under $2k this weekend, and I'm thinking about buying. I'd have the set primarily hooked up to an Xbox, Xbox 360 (eventually), and my home theater PC. Probably with HDMI with a DVI-to-HDMI cable for the latter.

A couple of concerns:

-Is lag an issue with this set? I've heard complaints about PS2 lag and Samsungs in general, but if the lag is due to video processing in the TV, I would think it should be independent of the console used. I'll also be doing some PC gaming with the set and watching plenty of music visualization programs, so any kind of lag with PC input or audio would be annoying.
Do stores let you drag in a console and test for that sort of thing, or do I have to rely on forum posts?

-Any other issues running a PC through this set? I record SD shows with BeyondTV and I'd be watching them on the set. I also have a few hundred gigs of commercial-free SD DivX that gets a decent amount of play time. DVD playback would also be through the PC, probably with either WMP or NVDVD.

-Are there any other sets in this price range and around 40" that are better suited to PC/Xbox input? I know the HLR4664 has DVI and VGA inputs, which would be nice, but since it isn't widely stocked it seems unlikely to be sale fodder anytime soon. Not sure how much of a premium the extra 4" is worth, assuming picture quality is the same between it and the 42".

I've done enough reading on DLPs, HDTVs, and such in the last few days to make my head explode, but PC and console issues seem to get the least amount of play, especially with the limited information available on Canada-only sets. Any insight would be appreciated.

My experience with an Acer 32" LCD TV (AT3201W (http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/48/sort/2/cat/11/page/1)) suggests that the TVs video scaling quality is the limiting factor. The scaling artifacts on the composite input were very noticeable with an XBOX playing Medal of Honor and Halo 1&2. While Prince of Persia and Battlefield 2 at 1024x768 is crystal clear from a PC via the DVI input.

In my tests, DVD on component looked much better than the same on composite. So I'm hoping that the XBOX 360 will look better on composite. But I'm pushing the kids into PC games in the meantime.

As for watching DIVX, be aware that many HDTVs (http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34751)will not allow the PC to use the full native resolution of the TV. At least without some tweaking.
