Sony had announced a mid-September release date for these TVs in Canada. I recently sent email to Sony Canada asking about these TVs.

They responded that the TVs will now be available in late September or early October.

I always that it was suppossed to be Oct/Nov for the SXRD's..sometime after the A10's which are just starting to arrive.

Hmm. I must have misread the Sony press release at:

where it says, "The new KDS-R60XBR1 and KDS-R50XBR1 Grand WEGA models will be available in mid-September at manufacturers suggested retail prices of $6,499 and $4,999."

Sony must be gearing up to list the new models on sonystyle.ca because they've moved the Qualia model from the grand vega page to a new SXRD page. Shouldn't be long now!

Just to let you guys know that the sony SXRD 50" is at teh sony store in Yorkdale Mall so you guys can go ahead an order it.


Wow all this talk and I have gotten to see it now it was very good they had it priced $4999 and I must say it looked very nice. it was alot brighter then the XS that they had sitting right beside it. IT also has a much cleaner picture.

Was it available for purchase or just pre-order?

Just preorders for now and a glance at a terminal by one of the sales persons got a delivery date of 2 weeks so who really knows. As of early last week a friend at the Sony Store told me none were showing at either the western or eastern Canada warehouses. But things might be changing as we speak. One of the guys at The Yorkdale told me a president of TV division will be making a visit to the store Wednesday .and that is why they have an early hatching and the 60” will be there before Wednesday as well, Possibly Monday.

Anyone heard any rumors of.....

1) 70" xbr sxrd?

and/or

2) Price reduction on Qualia 70"?

Also what do you use/do to calibrate it? is this hard or just setting it to personal settings as you like.

We have an in house calibrater that does calibration for customers as well as higher end floor models.

I just saw Visions' flyer, apparently Qualia SXRD 50"/60" are both available and for sale right now at $4988/$6988

These are the 1080p versions right?! Not 720p right?!

I have not been back but in AVS forum it was said the 60" was in the store. Hopefuly you know that already from a visit. The sets will be avalible quite soon.
