Looking for the new 5100 or maybe the HDTV 6000 receiver.

Post your comments and questions here.

I have the 5100 and I am very happy with it. Stay away from the 6000 until they can combine the 5100 and the 6000 together into one unit. HDTV is so limited these days... Digital Home's review on HDTV shows Rogers way ahead for pricing. I hope that Bell will upgrade the 5100 to have more features like Tivo has. Record two shows at once would be wild!

I do have the 6000 and a Toshiba 50".

I've never been happy with the 6000. Non HD channels looked terrible and HDTV channels looked very weird.
Turns out I had a problem whereby I needed something called the Toshiba HDP-1. The result is a properly scaled picture however I do notice a lot of artifacting so I'm still not ecstatic. (thanks to JohnnyG, one of the moderator's here for solving my problem)
I also watch the non-HDTV channels in SD mode and the HDTV channels in HD mode. This is annoying because to change between HD and non HD channels I have to make three changes.

Needless to say, I would recommend anyone getting into HDTV to avoid ExpressVU right now until things improve or if you're in the right neighbourhood, try ROgers HDTV.

Well, I have to disagree. I think the model 6000 is a great receiver. I've never had any of the problems mentioned in the previous message.

The picture in HD is amazing, and the regular channels are more than acceptible.

There is enough HD programing to make it worthwhile for me. Although I would like to see EVu add an other channel so they could shoe both ABC and CBS in prime time.
