James99 and/or any anybody else have an update on the status of the 6412 roll-out with the new guide? Now with hockey back, baseball playoffs, NFL, and the fall suite of new shows the competition with my spouse over our 6412 is getting heightened....

No new news. I have the 6208 and will be getting the 6412 when the new software comes out. Hopefully soon.

Well I called Cogeco today and asked about the dual tuner/i-guide for 6412 and was told that they have NO KNOWN TIMETABLE FOR ITS RELEASE AT THE MOMENT.
I hung up and called BELL. My HD dish goes up Friday.

I Have a 6208 and Put a 120GB in it and it works and performs fine as i think they used same firmware for both, Tried a 160 and it was fine but only detected as a 120GB put partitioned as a 160 this means the guage for how much is left would be wrong. So in theory a 120 would be the perfect amount.

Who cares about Dual Tuner i just wanted the higher HD Space anyways

biglyle...just because some level 1 csr tells you "no known timetable" doesn't mean that cogeco isn't working on it, or planning on upgrading. this just shows that like many people have posted that cogeco doesn't give their csr's any accurate info. now with that being said...good luck with bell! I had their service before i switched to cogeco, and all i can say is that my experiences with cogeco are 1000 times better than with bell. all i can say is that i can't wait for the day cogeco releases voip in hamilton...cause i am ready to get rid of anything that has to do with bell.

As much as Cogeco can sometimes be a pain in the ass, I will never switch back to Bell. Never, ever, ever, not even if Bell was the only company that supplied TV and Internet, and Jesus asked me nicely.

p.s. I don't even use Bell's phone service.

I've been 100% Bell-free for 16 months. Would never go back.

Not meaning to be a topic stickler here, but when are we going to get some "release dates, etc." as the "Official Cogeco I-Guide Thread" header suggests rather than Bell-bashing?

I'll walk on the wild side and suggest perhaps someone in the know at Cogeco could give us an update (and I don't mean the beleagered front-line staff who can only post what they've been told - which appears to be nothing). Management must have some timeline for iGuide on the 6412.

I'd settle for knowing if we'll get it before the end of the year.

I hate thinking every day that when I go into this thread, someone is going to say they know something....and always being disappointed.

All that is fine in dandy if you live in an area Cogeco actually gives a crap about. Here in Sarnia, we are not all digital with no timetable to upgrade. The analog channels have very poor picture quality in comparison to what I previously had with Bell. HD channels macroblock like crazy with numerous audio drop outs. Hell, even my high speed internet isnt as fast as it was a year ago.
The reason I switched from Bell to Cogeco in the first place was for the dual tuner PVR. Much to my suprise when I got the damn thing the dual tuner wasnt active yet. I decided to wait because I was told it would be up and running in September. Well its mid October now, and the timetable has all but dissapeared for its release.

I am not a BELL fan by anymeans, I am switching because Cogeco doesnt deserve my money simply because I feel I have been lied to by them. I will not tolerate being lied to by a company. End of story.

I wonder if something's up. It's close to 9pm Sunday night, and for some reason the guide on my 6412 is showing "To Be Announced" on the program guide for most channels.

Is this a sign the I-Guide is taking over?

Oh, I have the I-Guide on my DCT2000 and it shows listings for all the channels, like normal.

And I'm in Oakville.

Are you sure your 6412 wasn't powered off for a while? As you know, "To Be Announced" is usually showing when the box is receiving info from Cogeco, typically when it has been offline. I'm in Oakville too, and I see the usual, on the guide.

But, maybe we're getting lucky...and your part of Oakville is the first one up for the new guide!

It could be nothing. But to answer your question, no, the power has never been off. My computer is on all the time and it's plugged into the same power bar as the 6412. If the power went off, the computer would be off.
I actually have to switch to a channel to see what's on!!

Any news? It's about 1 hr. since your first post on the Guide. Got a finger crossed!

Monday morning. Sorry if I got anyone worked up. This is probably just Cogeco doing something wrong instead of something right (like giving us the I-Guide).

This morning just about every channel shows To Be Announced. And the power has not been off. I guess I can unplug the unit and plug it back in. I'll wait till tonight though.

But maybe this means they're working on something on their end...who's got insider info?

Well, this morning I unplugged and plugged back in the 6412. Now, it's lunchtime and it seems like the guide still hasn't downloaded. I have absolutely no listings. And I know something is wrong because when I hit MENU on the remote, I get the screen that says "This Service is Temporarily Unavailable". I'll try again. But I think we can all assume this is just an issue at my house. Forget the I-Guide.

Called Cogeco. They can't connect to my box from their end. Time for a service call. No DVR in the meantime.
Where's that trusty old VCR???
