Gol TV Canada coming soon. Don't know who the carrier will be.

Rogers filed an intervention against licensing this service, so I wouldnt count on it getting carriage by Rogers anytime soon.

I fail to see how this thread belongs in the Rogers Forum so I have moved it.

The "Canada" part at the end is making me cringe already. Fox Sports World Canada is crap compared to Fox Soccer Channel and I expect nothing different in this case.

Why does the CRTC even bother allowing these channels if they turn them into utter drivel? We should have only 1 channel over here with 100% Canadian content... ie 5 hours of Corner Gas and 19 hours of dead air.

TLN already carries most of the Italian/Champions League games....Rogers Sportsnet has all EPL/FA PPV and Spanish League games....FSW has everything else....and sometimes TSN has some UEFA games....why can't they allow ESPN2 instead...

I hate the CRTC. I'd love to see this %100 dedicated soccer channel.

It's a safe bet that Rogers Sportsnet will not carry any Spanish games now seeing as they were showing the GolTV feed in the 1st place.
I'd like to see an all soccer channel too especially 1 that shows Champions' League games that aren't being shown on ESPN (with english commentary from England not the US!)

I agree with all the critisism here of the CRTC. Compared to most countries, Canada has poor coverage of soccer. I really get annoyed when TSN, who have the rights to Champions League games, then show them at around midnight on tape delay, while curling airs in the afternoon. If they can't carry it live, they should be forced to forfeit the rights to those games to someone that will air them.

I think part of the problem is that ESPN must own the english language rights to the Champions League.
As ESPN is affiliated with TSN that's why we're stuck with the ESPN broadcast games.
I'd love it if Sportsnet of FSW would simulcast some of the UK broadcasts of CL games.

It doesn't matter you can download whatever CL game you want from fbtz.com, or watch it using PPLive or Coolstreaming.

I've read somewhere next year World Cup will be broadcast in ESPN in HD, hopefully Sportsnet can do the same thing.

If Bell is carrying this channel then I am definetely switching over from Rogers. Rogers can kiss my a**

Soccer or Football as it is known through much of the world is the biggest sport on the planet. Yet we have such a difficult time getting more of it here in Canada.

I mean Fox Sports World Canada (Which totally blows by the way) were showing games like Scotland vs Moldova from the world cup qualifiers. I mean I'd rather see games like Denmark vs Turkey or other games that have more meaning in the standings. Next month I would love to watch the Denmark vs Greece game. It could potentialy decide the group. I don't want to watch bottom dwellers.

There has got to be better coverage. By the way no one is showing the Newcastle vs Fullham game this weekend. Michael Owen is making his Newcastle debut. It's not even on Pay per view. Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

The way things have been lately, I am inclined to think Rogers are more likely to pick it up than ExpressVu. Bell are very slow at adding channels, and when/if they do, who knows what satellite it will be broadcast from? If your dish only gets one bird, and it is on the other you are sol, unless you "upgrade" your dish, cable etc.

As for Scotland v Moldova coverage, what the hell is wrong with that? I've now seen a total of two Soctland games on live on 15 yrs, please don't deprive us Scots of what little coverage we get! As for the "bottom dwellers" comment, well, I can't really argue with that one. :D

The live football coverage leaves much to be desired in Canada, probably now one of the worst served (developed) countires for live games. Why can't we have the Fox Soccer Channel that the US customers have, what harm could that possibly do?

Sorry dude. I did not mean to dis the Scottish soccer team. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the matches as well. I really like the Scottish kit by the way. I like how they have the white stripe on the one sock to macth the jersey. Real neat!!
It's better than the boring Nike jersey with a circle around the players number. Boooorrrriiiiinnnng!

So, you've seen two Scotland games in the last 15 years. In that time I've seen a few more Turkish games (thanks in part to their performance at the 2002 WC). But I feel your frustration in wanting to see your national team on a regular basis. Look on the bright side at least you get to see some Scottish Premier Leauge games every once in a while.

Hey, no offence was taken, on the contrary I would agree with you completely if I was a neutral. You have a valid point, for although I enjoyed watching my country play, the standard was diabolical (though they seem to be improving lately). :D

Unfortunately the SPL games have also disappeared form FSW again. So I can't see those games either, except when I am off work and can go to my local supporters club. FSWC has gone downhill every year since it came on air, IMO.

Agreed. Fox Sports World Canada has gotten worse. Although I must admit I really do enjoy the South American games. Those guys can play!!

They should have a Rogers Soccer on Demand Channel. I'd buy into that. Even if you can't watch a game live you can watch it right after.

Well I emailed Rogers about GolTv and I got the generic response.

"At present we are unable to advise when and if the GoITV channel will
be available and we apologize for any inconvenience. Please feel free
to visit <www.rogers.com> to keep up to date with regards to this
channel offering."

That's just a paragraph from the otherwise useless and self-advertising reply that I got.

BLUH!!

Fox Sports World Canada 'blows' because of the CRTC. GolTV Canada will also 'blow' because of the CRTC.

Don't get your hopes up.

Just wanted to remind everyone that GolTV USA can be received free and legally from satellite, regardless of what the CRTC has to say. It is a free service (not encrypted) from one of the Dish Network satellites.

GOLTV release in Canada has been pushed to November, according to their website

That sucks.
I have a funny feeling it will be some time before we see Expressvu carrying it, although if GOL TV were smart, they'd launch the weekend of November 19th & 20, & air "El Classico" on Sunday (Barca-Madrid). It don't get any bigger than that.
