: A10 Grand Wega release dates
I have a question regarding this set. I would like to purchase one but in my living room, I would be at a viewing distance of 14-15 feet from its location. Is this too far for watching HD content or any other content? We currently have a 48" 4:3 RPTV which seems pretty fine at this distance but I don't really feel like we have a "bigscreen" experience.

Berenger 2005-09-25, 07:26 PM Id also like to find the best deal for the 42A10 or 50A10.... could you please send me copy of your receipt ?
thanks!
jlmeloche 2005-09-26, 12:13 AM Glad that you got a great deal. I only checked back here a little while ago and was starting to scan my receipt until I saw your follow-up post. I must say, I'm a little jealous. Hats off on the better negotiation!
I have a question unrelated to Sony, but I'm asking here since I think some people may be in the same boat. Where can I find a Bell Expressvu 9200 system in Ottawa. After some enquiries, I've been told that I have to wait for shipments to be replenished which may take some time. I want HDTV now!!!
You are wrong on this. Example is rear projection lcd, dlp and plasma. Looking at my database mark up is anywhere from 40-55%. Yes companies are allow to make money but consumer has a right to find the greatest deal as well. 55% markup on a 4999.99 sony tv is just unfair to consumers when the stores really does not do that much. I am in the business and i see people paying msrp without haggling all the time and I feel bad for them. Read forums to find lowest price then try and get the price by going to 6 or 7 stores on the day you wish to buy even if its same chain. Different managers will give different discounts based on amount of sales in that store on that day or close to month end to meet targets. Saving $500 is worth the time and gas money to drive around for 1 day.
Dont go to one store 3 or 4 times asking for same deal. If they recognize you there often they will stop quoting you big discounts. So only go store to store on the day you buy.
Van: Does the 40-55% markup also apply to Hitachis? I am interested in the 50V525 and 50VS810. I would appreciate it if you could let me know what the cost is on these units - and the matching stands. Thanks.

Hmmm, the wife may have issues with that. :) BTW, how did you figure out the size of 61"?

Don't know about Ottawa specifically, but I ordered mine direct from Bell about two weeks ago and it was delivered about a week later, might be your best bet.

Question for you all. I have been looking at the new 42" A10 and love the picture. A friend of mine keeps telling me to wait till just after christmas because he said LCD's are coming down big time and I'll be able to get a 40"+ for 'about' the same price of a A10 right now.
He suggests the picture quality of the new A10 as compared to LCD is not nearly as good. When I look at them...they look the same...in fact, the A10 looked a bit brighter.
Anyhow, what are your thoughts?
ryoung 2005-09-29, 06:58 PM THe option to wait is always there, but then another new set of products will be released, or another projected price drop will be announced and you could end up waiting forever. It all depends on what you want, and what you'll be happy with.
I would like a HD plasma, but the price wasn't where I could afford it, so I got the A10 which I felt was the next best thing because I wanted HD now, not 6 months from now.
Just my thoughts.
Tecumseh 2005-09-30, 10:24 AM Best Buy and Future Shop have the 50inch A10 on for $2999 right now on their web-sites.

That seems like a pretty fair price at this point. Which Sony store and did they allow you to finance that?
Thanks

functor 2005-09-30, 10:44 AM FS and BB both have A10's for sale. 50" is $2999, not sure bout the 42.
Jonanator 2005-09-30, 11:14 AM the 42" is $2499 I think.
faldze 2005-09-30, 04:14 PM In fact, it's Sony Week @ FS. It starts today so I'm going to go see what they got and what sort of deal they can give on the 50".

Oshawa Shopping Center, but do not know about financing. I used a credit card.
faldze 2005-10-01, 02:41 PM For any of you in the GTA, especially in the north end, I checked out a local electronics retailer here in Newmarket, Leeder TV. Not only will they match Future Shop's price, but they are will to give an even better price, around $2,700. I'm going to go back and see if I can get that even lower, but that's a pretty good price already.
