Well I just bought one tonight at FS and paid $2600. I find it hard to believe they would be happy making only $200 on these sets.
you bought a 50" for $2600?? I'd love to hear the details of your final recipt. That's the deal of the century given it's advertised price is $3199.99.

I was going to say the same thing.

It seems like people like to brag on what price they can get for their T.V's.
Dosen't matter what site you go to. :)
Can I have a copy of that reciept and try my best at getting the lowest price :)

AND yes.... I beat *YOUR* Price

So...can we see a copy of *YOUR* reciept?

The reciept shown earlier for $2500 is a FS staff price. That is why it has been edited. The 4 numbers after the SKU are gone, only someone familiar with what those numbers mean would hide them. I guess using his staff discount to buy for someone else.
The $2500 receipt is not staff price. I edit out the last four numbers because that is the employee selling the tv in case he get in trouble for selling at that price. Anyone bringing receipt to FS they will be able to tell who sold it at that price with the 4 numbers there. besides staff price is around $2350.

If you live in Calgary I can direct you to which FS to buy at that price.

what is cost anyway on the 42" & the 50" a10's?

I may have caught a peek on the Sony computer....I think I read their cost was $2400 for the 50".
The actual cost is under $2000.

Future Shop has some radical deals at times that are not advertised. I walked into one here in Scarboro last March and found them selling a Samsung 5085(pedestal 50incher) for 3499 and he was volunteering 150 more off of it if I bought on the spot. At all other stores it was going for no less than 4499.
Go figure
Anyways,
Happy Capitalism

really...for the 50"??? I need a friend that is able to buy at cost.... :(

I still can't believe Sony Store rejected my latest offer for the 42" of paying the full price ($2599.99) if they throw in the stand ($399.99) for free.... i also said I'm going to buy the 4-year ($399.99) extended warranty from them.

It's not a bad offer I don't think considering The Brick has them for $260 off @ $2339.97 right now and Sears is essentially selling the stand for $200.

Taking into account the loss of the stand, you'd think they would prefer to have some profit of maybe $400 than to lose my business to the competition all together.

I certainly won't be buying from that character when the time does come!

I just bought the 42" A10 from Futureshop. The salespeople were really nice and I got (what I believe is) a great deal. I won't go into specifics but, I purchased the television with a 4 year extended warranty (which I wasn't going to buy but everyone here and at AVS convinced me that the extra protection was worth my investment) all for under $3,000.00 CDN (taxes in).

I could have bought an HDMI cable at discount, but opted to buy it for even cheaper elsewhere.

can you please go into details....i'd be interested. seems like a decent price. I bet you wouldn't have been able to if you didn't buy their extended warranty. They make so much profit/commission off that. I'm interested in the TV & Stand for max $3000.

I'm having my 42" delivered tomorrow...TV+stand+delivery for under $3000. Not earth shattering, but I thought it was decent. Basically, just come up with what you think is a fair price and go around to FS, BB, Sonystore, etc until somebody gives it to you for what you want, if your reasonable you'll get it.

Actually, we had agreed on the television price before we even discussed extended warranty. I received very little pressure from the salesperson for extended warranty. I bought the warranty after extensive review in various forums, etc. Basically, I don't trust LCP RPTV enough to be confident that it won't develop blotches. In case it does, anytime between now and in 4 years, I will be covered. I negotiated the price of the tv for $2239.99 with free delivery and 25% off all cables. I had a really great buying experience.

Hey man, I got jerked around today at Future Shop... he didn't seem to believe me that people such as yourself got such a good deal from the salesman. If you could send me a copy of your receipt by scanning it or taking a digital picture of it or something and e-mailing it to me I will be sure to mail a small token of my appreciation to you address if you would disclose that to me.

thanks in advance...my e-mail address is nalbr027@uottawa.ca

My brother used to work at Best Buy last year and he's told me that bigscreen TVs generally have markups of almost 50%! So, yeah, work those deals with the salesmen because they have lots of room to move. I was able to get $400 off my panny plasma purchase with a 2 year extended warranty thrown in for free when I bought it at Advance in Winnipeg.

I had my 55" A20 delivered today, what an upgrade over an RCA 27"! :o

I'm fairly new to home theatre so I really can't see any of the quality issues others might of brought up here and at other forums.

The cheaper tvs... norcent etc. or smaller tv's. big names, big screens don't have that much.

I find it funny that people think a business is not allowed to make money.
Everything you buy has mark-ups. Do you haggle over the price of the DVD or CD you buy at a store... what about games or software??

A store has to stay in bussiness somehow.
You are wrong on this. Example is rear projection lcd, dlp and plasma. Looking at my database mark up is anywhere from 40-55%. Yes companies are allow to make money but consumer has a right to find the greatest deal as well. 55% markup on a 4999.99 sony tv is just unfair to consumers when the stores really does not do that much. I am in the business and i see people paying msrp without haggling all the time and I feel bad for them. Read forums to find lowest price then try and get the price by going to 6 or 7 stores on the day you wish to buy even if its same chain. Different managers will give different discounts based on amount of sales in that store on that day or close to month end to meet targets. Saving $500 is worth the time and gas money to drive around for 1 day.

Dont go to one store 3 or 4 times asking for same deal. If they recognize you there often they will stop quoting you big discounts. So only go store to store on the day you buy.
