Hi folks,

Do you know what is the best price for 42A10 so that I can price match with FF or BB. The 50A10 looks a little too big for my living room. I am considering to return it and get a 42".

Thanks

Did you ever set it up on the 42-46" tv stand? Did it fit? I'm actually waiting for my 50" KFE to be delivered today, and I bought the 42-46" stand (haven't opened it yet). Just wondering did it fit for the 50"?

I just picked up a KFE42-A10 yesterday from BB for $1800 + taxes. That was the best deal I could find...

I just got rid off some old flyers this morning. Here are 2 examples from last year boxing week Best buy flyer:

1. Sony42" KF42WE620 was $2799.99. It is $1800 for the 42" LCD RP TV this year.

2. 26" LCD TV was 1999.99 last year. It is $999 or less for 26" LCD TV this year.

Maybe you will see $1500 or less for Sony 50" LCD RP HDTV on boxing week 2006!;)

Thanks for this. I just got a bet. Last night I was discussing with a friend and he was saying that the prices didn't fall that much. THanks for proving it :)

You are welcome. Just a FYI these old flyers are still in my gray box if you want to win some more bets from your friend. ;)

I just purchased the KDFE50A10 (not KFE50A10) for $1999.00 plus tax at SoundSaround. I stumbled upon the deal this morning in the Calgary newspaper (it was not in the Boxing Day flyer). They had 18 in Calgary and I grabbed the second last one at 9:45am. The "sale" price at Future Shop is 2599.00. Hopefully, you can negotiate a price close to this deal.

Couldn't wait anymore, wanted one before Christmas, so I bought the KFE50A10 from Sears website on Dec 07th, onsale $2499.99. Delivered on the 16th. 30 day price guarantee. Even though a blizzard in Montreal that day, still delivered promptly at 9 AM. Cool. Waited a couple of hours to uncrate and plug it in, and, a 2 inch black line wandering thru the middle of the screen. Not cool. Call Sears. Offered to fix it and will send a guy on the 22nd. Did not ask to replace, should have and will do in the future. Arranged for the guy to show up after 5PM. The day arrives and he was here at 9:30 AM. He left a message wondering where I was. Not cool. Called Sears when I got home at 5 PM and got the biggest runaround ever. Not one person cared, not one person made an effort to correct their mistake in the schedule. Two people actually hung up on me. So, after dinner called again, and told them that I was not happy and I want the TV picked up and my money back. Happened to get someone who cared (Irina, who saved the sale and the customer). She checked to see if it could be fixed on Friday. Nope, all filled up. How about a new one on Saturday and they take the old one? Sure. First thing Saturday, a new one arrived and they took the old one. Waited a couple of hours, plugged it in and worked perfectly. Cool. Rant over:)

So, Mondays Gazette, full of Boxing Day sales. Ad for Centre HI-FI, one day only the KFE50A10 for $1979.99. Drive into Sears Angrignon expecting a million people at Customer Service to find no one. Showed the ad and got the difference refunded immediately. $520, no hassle, no nothing, nobody called to see if they had any. Nothing, just the difference back. Total time 6 minutes.

Great TV BTW. Get one , you will love it!

Today, I had the dilema of buying a 42" Sony set. Boxing day and all, I went to best buy. Long story made short, I ended up buying the KFE on sale for 1800$ there. Asked them about this deal at Home Show, the manager of the TV department told me that, "if thats in fact the deal they're giving, go there, you're getting a good deal - I can't match it". Well, I decided I would. But not before I had at least some sort of TV. So I bought the 1800$ KFE as a backup, thinking I'd just return without even picking up at warehouse, and off to Home Show I went.

Arrive at Home Show, ask the salesperson, and lo and behold! The price is true, and whats more, the model in question is not the KFE, but in fact the KDFE model! Anyways, I got it today - shipped tomorow :) (minus gst, it ends up being 1598 or so). Essentially, you get the KDFE with taxes for same price as BB/FS KFE without taxes. Damned good deal if you ask me...
Not that it matters too much, but their extended warranty seemed much more reasonable as well. 200$/5 years parts and labour.

Can't wait for this baby to arrive!

I also managed to get the 42A10 today at $1585 net discounting the GST for Boxing Day only with 5 year extended warranty. I actually picked it up right away and set it up immediately when I got home.

Wow! pictures looks great, even the SD programs look very acceptable for a RP TV. It performs better than the 50A10 which I am going to return. I guess any picture faults are not amplified so much on samller screen.

Zamu, Thanks so much for the information. I never image that I can get the D version at this price level.

Evgeny, my extended warranty is $299 verus what you quoted as $200. Do you mind post a copy of your invoice so that I can go back to Home Show for a price match refund? Thanks

I read some posts on this forum complaining about various problems of A10 and wonder whether it was caused by the inappropriate shipping of the TV. It indicates on the packing that it should never be placed side way or on its back during transportation. BTW, this is only my suspicion.

You may call them to find out. I guess the price is $1696 for Boxing week with GST cut on Boxing Day. You may have to join the Club at $29.99 in order to buy the TV. All items on the shop offered to the public only on Boxing Day. You may also try your luck by price matching it with FF or BB with the Home Show flyer which was posted by Zamu earlier on the forum. It is not a bad deal since FF's price is $1,799 on Boxing Day.

Good luck to your endeavors.

Gladly would, unfortunately, I have no scanner or digital camera of any sorts to be able to do that. I do assure you though that it was sold for 199.00 for 5 years. This was the Scrabrough location, and the salesman, while his name I don't remember, was a clean shaven brown guy, about 5'7". Shipping was $60, and the non-Sony stand was ~270$.

As for price matching, definetely the best of luck to you. Like I said, the Best Buy TV department manager refused to even listen to me after I named the price at which Home Show was offering - and this was boxing day itself.

FF's price of $1799 is for the KFE not KDFE, their price for the KDFE is $2199 this week. So even if I have to pay membership and GST it would still be a sweet deal. I actually purchased the KDFE last week for $1988, what I'll do is ask FF if they will price match Homeshow as I have 30 days to return my TV.

I'm thinking that in the next few weeks the prices for these TV's are going to come down drastically. Maybe Homeshow received a shipment from Sony at the new discounted price ?
