Future Shop has an instant $200 off before rebates this week - maybe you can get some money back.

I think ...not. But worth to try. Since there is only one $300 MIR in the fly and website.

Tweaked my picture now SD cable looks a lot better...definately worth spending the time.

Would you please share your final setting here? I know everything is in the link but it is a long story and setting has been changed by different users. I hope I am not asking too much. Thanks in advance.

He paid $1188 for it, and this week FS has it for $1099 after the instant discount, so he should be able to get $89 back.

Does anyone know what the price on the KDFE50A10 is at Visions? The online flyer had everything BUT that TV...though the 42A10 was a really good price so I have a feeling I could price match the 50A10 down a bit if I show The Brick proof of a better price.

Many thanks to anyone know can enlighten me.

Hi guys,

Well, I'm really inching to purchase the KFE50A10. My friend works at the Bay so I was thinking about price matching the sears price ($2299.99) and then getting the 10% Bay employee discount. So the TV would cost roughly $2000 CAD before GST+PST.

Alternatively, I could purchase the 60 inch (KDFE60A20) from the states for roughly $3250 CAD before GST+PST. (US price: 2319.99 + shipping: 279.99 + 8% duty = $3250 CAD). That's about an $800 savings between getting the 60 inch in the US versus Canada.

Purchasing the 50 inch from the Bay seems like the no brainer solution but it would be really nice to have a 60 inch instead of a 50 inch.
Granted if I purchase the TV from the states then I have the hassle of picking it up in the states and also the issues around warranties.

Any recommendations guys???

thx!

I was at Visions today (Calgary). The sale price was 2488. I am not sure if this a good price for the KDFE model. I do not think you can receive over the air hdtv broadcasts in Calgary and nobody uses the cable card. Perhaps the KFE model would be a better choice?

I have been lurking in the forums trying to figure if I should purchase a KFE or KDFE model.

Sure, I'm going to cancel my order (since it was on back order) and will get one from FS, 'cause they have them in stock.

Visions posted at the store that the KDFE42 price was a mistake. It was meant for KFE42.

Yesterday, I headed over to A&B sound to see what they could do on the KFE50A10 in terms of pricing. The dude would price match the Sears price of $2299 but that's it. He said they were only making $7.86 on the TV if he sold it to me at that price. I thought the guy was total BS'ing me so I headed over to the Bay.

Well, I pulled the trigger today and purchased the KFE50A10 from the Bay.
The Bay was having scratch and save so the salesman was in a very good discounting mood. Although I didn't end up using the scratch and save because the maximum scratch I was getting on electronics was 15% which didn't help because they take that 15% off the Bay's regular price on the TV of $2799.

I told the sales guy that Sears was selling the TV for $2229. He immediately priced matched it without even seeing the Sears flyer. (he never even verified the sears price). I then asked if he could do any better and he dropped $125 off the price. I then asked again and he easily couched up another $50.

So, I ended up with the KFE50A10 for $2125.

Next I inquired about the Sony stand. I got him down to $350 from $450 without much effort.

Then, I inquired about the DAVFX100 wireless home theatre system. The Bay is selling it for $1299. I told the sales dude that Future Shop and Best Buy are selling it for $799. He was a little sceptical so I navigated over to futureshop.ca and showed him the price. He was quite surprised and immediately price matched it to $799 even though Best Buy and Future Shop price of $799 is the price after submitting the rebate to Sony.

So, now I can submit a $200 to Sony for purchasing a Grand Wega + DAVFX100. I'm wondering if I can also submit the $300 sony rebate for purchasing the DAVFX100 because the sales guy just matched the after rebate price.

All in all, I thought I got a pretty good deal.

Wow, you ain't kidding! I was never very good at haggling and I always say to the salesman, "Is that your best price?" and usually they will knock off about fifty bucks and that's about it.
When buying a car, I try to get them to throw in a set of floor mats to sweeten the deal but that doesn't always work. You must have a gift for it!

My new 42A10 is great for DVD's but some SD channels from BEV are pretty fuzzy. Even if I upgrade to HD, there would be many channels that don't yet broadcast in HD. The picture quality seems to be more related to resolution than color or brightness. I have looked at the tweaks that Zamu used but they haven't helped a great deal. Could there be any settings I am missing.

Boy, am I pissed. Took delivery of my Sony tv a week ago this past Friday. The wireless "dream" system wasn't on the truck, so I called and was told they were coming in on that weekend, and he'd get mine out to me the next week. I checked their website on the following Monday, saw they were in stock, so I made sure someone was home at all times all week so I didn't miss the delivery truck.

No dream system came. So I check the website this past Monday, and it's out of stock. again. I call, and he said there SHOULD be more in on Wednesday (today). No apology for not getting it out to me LAST week when it WAS in stock!

And today I check the site, and it's not even there anymore. I paid $1000 for the damn thing, and noone seems to care that I don't have it, and SHOULD have received it LAST week! *fuming*

Well, I called FS this morning to see what's up, and they said they got THREE in overnight, so I told him to put one aside and I'll be right there!

While I was there, I got refunded $40 + tax for the ext. warranty (my story on that is earlier in the thread) and the nice girl printed me out a shiny new receipt for the tv & warranty, with today's date. So that gives me 2 extra weeks to find a better price on the tv and get a pricematch ;-)

And it only took us 2 1/2 hours to hook up the speaker system. sheesh.

Did his nose start growing when he said this? This is really funny.

And it only took us 2 1/2 hours to hook up the speaker system. sheesh.

This "wireless" sistem is such a false claim that I was thinking sending them a letter and ask to stop cheating people.

Another problem I have with this "wireless" system is that my basement is rather large so unless I want to run cable for rear speakers across the room I have to get a new cable at least 18 meters long (to run it along the walls). So I called Sony hoping that they can send me a longer cable for "wireless" system and the answer I got was -- Look in FS or BB they might have it?!?! You bet I gave them my 2 cents on their false claims and unfriendly customer service.

I just cancelled my order for my KFE50A10.

The boxing day pricing is out on the 55 in (KDFE55A20) and the 60 in KDFE60A20).

Sony 60 at FutureShop for $3299
http://boxingday.redflagdeals.com/index.php/boxingweekflyers/image_full/36/

Sony 55 at BestBuy for $2999
http://boxingday.redflagdeals.com/index.php/boxingweekflyers/image_full/35/

So, I just did a price match at the Bay for the 60 in. The dude price matched it even though the sale is not in effect yet at FutureShop =)

Gotta love doing Boxing Day Price matching before Boxing Day :P

He also gave me a brake on the Sony matching stand (SUGW12) for $549 instead of MSRP of $799.

I've heard that the picture quality on the 55 and 60 inch is not as good as the 50 because the native resolution is still the same.

Wow... HD is really great on my 42". But channels like spike still look pretyy rough after tweaking...Other SD channels look pretty good though.

I've noticed that there looks like there is a little bit of "light leak" in the top left corner of my screen. You notice it when the screen is all back (it's not black in top left corner). Do you think if I call Sony that they can fix this? I'm still within my 30 days with Future Shop, but I don't want to be without a TV.

I notice this light leak also but it seems to be more in the middle of the screen starting in the center of the screen firing up.. Seems more noticable in darker scenes. The guy at FS told me that there isn't much you can do about this.
