: A10 Grand Wega release dates
pixeltronic 2005-12-13, 05:31 PM I bought KFE50A10 on FF for 2489$ on Sunday 11 Dec. I was not aware it was 2289$ at BB the same day.
They said they will match any advertised price 110% for 30 days.
I'm not sure if I should cancel and go again for boxing day or I should try their price match policy. What if there is some catch?
Somebody told me that I can bargain on boxing day if I didn't buy anything yet.

The price was actually $2489.99 on sale. I made a typo in my post but my final price was still correct as $2489.99-10% discount=$2240.98 + taxes.
You can try and see if you can get the 10% discount but they may say that you should have called on Sunday because that's when the promo was on. But why not try anyway?
If it goes down on boxing day, you are still covered by Price Protection.

ABRAHAM 2005-12-14, 01:20 AM [QUOTE=Monkeybonz]I bought the 50a10 at sears yesterday for the $2299 price - $20.00 scratch and save. TV would be ready for pickup by the weekend. Read the Forums today about the FS and BB 10% off prices. Dammit Dammit Dammit
I printed off the price of $2159 that mlai01 got and went down to BB tonight and was able to get the TV for $2150 then went to sears to cancel our order
I'm looking for a deal here in Edmonton as well.....
Which BB did you go to for your price? Any documentation that you can provide so I can get the same price?
Any help would be appreciated !
Thanks.....

Do they have an ad in the Sun or Star that can be taken to Future Shop to pricematch?
Rizvi 2005-12-14, 03:29 PM No thewatcher, they do not have a flier, ith these guys the only thing to do is know what you want as I don't think you are allowed to refund stuff like you can at the other stores unless it's truly defective.
I know they will beat anyones prices, they just won't give it to you in writing as they know the game.

I would just go down to your nearest BB FS or Visions and tell them you belong to an online forum where people have paid $2150 (me) and $2159 (mlai01) for the KFE50A10. I'm sure one of the places will sell you one for that price. If one place won't make a deal tell them you'll try one of the other places.
All I had for documentation was a copy of the post mlai01 made with the price of $2159
Good Luck
Rizvi 2005-12-14, 11:34 PM I was dead set on the Sony 42KDFEA10 also until I noticed a yellow light smudge about 3-4 inches wide running vertically through the middle of the screen. I checked out the 50inch and that also had this yellow light warp thingy happening. It's more noticeable in really dark scenes but nevertheless I don't think I can live with this type of annoyance. The salesman told that this is very common on rear projection LCD tv's. It's not a Sony problem. Back to DLP !

Just set up my A10 42" tonight...looks good, but the SD TV looks pretty bad in comparison to my Panny 27" GOAA. I'm hoping the quality will improve once my high def box gets here since it has better connections.
Question - I saw a guide somewhere here on tweaking the A10 picture settings but after looking for a 1/2 hour I can't find it. If you know where it is can you please post a link.
Thanks
I have my 42" hooked up to BEV 6100 and SD looks alright.

Some channels like the movie network actually look pretty good, but some of the regular channels look pixelated. To be honest, I think my Panasonic 27" GAOO has one of the best screens in the world for regular cable...it's smaller so the picture always looked amazing ...plus it has that Panny magic.
How-ever... I didn't buy this TV for watching SD... I bought it for HD, and although my HD box isn't here yet I know this TV looks amazing once you feed it a HD signal. But I still hope the new box will improve the SD picture a bit. The best connection I can get with the regular rogers Exploer 3100 is S-video. I can't wait for HD! hopefully Rogers will ship me the box by Friday.
I don't have an calibration disk yet... does anyone have recommendations for tweaking the setting on the A10/
milenvk 2005-12-15, 10:04 AM I bought my KDFE42A10 for $1988 from Best Buy last night. I printed the current flyer from www.visions.ca and showed it to the clerk. At first he said it must be the KFE but I pointed that the model number in the flyer says KDFE. They wanted to call a Visions store to check the price etc. and since I live in Toronto they declined to make a long distance call so I gave them my cell. The guy called and was put on hold by the Winnipeg Visions store and then he said ‘what the hell’ hung up and price matched it. I also got the DAVFX100W home theatre for $1188 using the same flyer. The guy almost sold it to me for $888 until another associate told him that price was after the $300 Sony rebate (it’s clearly stated in the flyer but my associate did not notice it). Damn! But whatever, I still got $112 off their price and the total of $500 mail in rebates from Sony. Then of course he offered me the service plan for $429 for 5 years. I told him I’m not interested because it’s too expensive and if he could do something about the price then I could think about it so he shed $100 off the price and I got it. I was surprised to find that Rogers gives 12 months free rental on their HD box (or 6 months rental on their HD PRV box) plus some free HD specialty channel programming if you buy an HD TV from BB. So I’m gonna try that.
Thanks to all the input from all of you guys on this thread!
ocean9927 2005-12-15, 10:32 AM congratulations Milenvk,
One thing about the Sony DAVFX100w system is that it should be called a "partial" wireless sytem. The 2 front speakers need the speaker wires to receiver and the rear 2 need the same wires to amplifier on the back (neat design. You put it under the speaker stand and they are match in size). The only wireless part is 2 front speakers to 2 rear speakers. I have no ideas about the other wireless system out there (maybe I ask too much).
So you pay $700 after rebates for DAVFX100W?
milenvk 2005-12-15, 11:14 AM Yes in the end I pay about $700 for DAVFX100W. I could have paid $400 if it was not for that other guy who noticed the rebate thing. By the way if I bought it from FS a week ago I could have paid a total of $500, like other members here have mentioned, since FS had an instant $300 off before rebates.
It's true, it's partially wireless but you lose the ugliest wire that crosses your room and there's no place to hide it. Besides, I would imagine a fully wireless system would need power source for each individual speaker, which, if not impossible, is at least not practical.

That is what I paid for this system. How can I blame it? :p

stooker 2005-12-15, 12:45 PM Hi!
I can purchase a Grand Wega 50" for 2250$ (KFE50A10) or 2500$ (KDFE50A10).
It will replace a 20 year old SONY 20". For now, I only have regular cable (Cogeco) and it will be like that for a couple of months.
Will we need the TV with the cablecard and ASTC tuner (KDFE50A10) someday?
Thanks!

For the ASTC tuner I believe you need a outdoor antenna unless you are living on the top of the hill already. If you can get the price everybody pays for the non-tuner/non-cablecard slot KFE50A10 then why not get a "D" version WEGA. BTW, I read someone paid $2150? for non-D 50A10 in this thread or others?
I found this thread on AVS on tweaking the A10 models.

Tweaked my picture now SD cable looks a lot better...definately worth spending the time.

Future Shop has an instant $200 off before rebates this week - maybe you can get some money back.
