Sound like good news Phil, but with snowfalls like this past weekend on the horizon for the near future it may be a while before they can pick it up again, unless they don't care about working outside in the cold.

Rogers Technicians work outside even on the coldest of days. If you were a customer with a service outage would you stand for a guy saying sorry I cant restore your service for a couple of days because its too cold. I would think only in lightning and high winds they would wait for safety reasons.

okay, I was thinking there is a difference between deploying new services and repairing existing services in an emergency.

Phil, was that postcard delivered through the mail or hand delivered? Did it look like a form produced thing with your address on it or was it just some hand delivered thing that the techs put in your mailbox (going door to door)? I don't know how they would isolate an area as far as mass mailings.

Still waiting for my postcard, but looks like a bit more digging on the grass along the street and markings on the grass, etc. Here's hoping.

Hmm.. I have to think back here. It may have just been dropped off... then again, I recall reading another thread that said they are doing the roll out by postal code. You can have Canada Post just deliver your flyers to the postal codes you pick.. so it could have came that way as well.

Currently, I see all the boxes are in place and most are closed up now (some were still open with exposed wiring a week ago). My channels go up to 349.. which I think is one or two higher than before, but still no 350 yet.

I called Rogers today to see if they had a date for my area... no luck. Then again, the CSR's will be the last to know.

Cheers,

- Phil

Phil, check out this thread (http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=21605#21605). Are you seeing these new channels in the IPG or more than what we are seeing? No post card yet though.

Yep... not only am I seeing the channels, but I just received a 3100HD box and have HDTV! Well, sorta. The Rogers sample works, as does Detroit PBS and Fox, but I get a black screen for ABC and NBC despite it having programming listed. Maybe it will take a day or two to get all the feeds right for Pickering.

The PBS picture is excellent!

They show NHL hockey on the Rogers Preview HD channel... it looks great but it's not like we'll see any of it in HD in Canada. Just a teaser I guess.

Thanks for the news. The PBS picture on Rogers has not been "as excellent" as it once was. It was the best!. Lately they have been experimenting and causing some loss in the black level and overall picture punch.

If possible, once you get CBS HD please advise how you would "rank" the picture quality, including the Rogers loop with the flyover of Lake Louise, etc.

The PBS signal seems to be better than it was a week or two ago, but I'm still not sure it's back to what it once was. Make sure you're watching a true HD programm on PBS, like Smart Travels. They also show a lot of upconverted widescreen.

Here's a --> Link to their downloadable programme guide. (http://www.detroitpublictv.org/watch/digitalsched.htm) (pdf format)

Thanks in advance, 57
