Just bought the 52" Toshiba at Leon's for $2799 plus tax. Included the stand. Just one question? The fans seem rather loud when the volume is down in the 20's. I had the repair man out and he says it is always that way and everything is fine. Should I be concerned? CAn anyone verify this explanation?

did you buy the 52HMX85 at Leon's? I have the 52HM85 and the fan seems reasonable quiet.

It is the hm85. The fans just seem too noticeable sometimes. Maybe something I have to get used to.

Sorry to slightly one up you but I got my 46HMX85 including the $350 stand and free delivery all for a total of $2,200 from Best Buy! Hooah! The original price was $2,799 as well. I can't wait for it, I get it on Saturday. If you got your stand with that price you stated then we got pretty much the same deal.

What I did was I went to Future Shop and another local store and played them against each other. Best Buy won.

Well sorry i think ive one up'd you Krazymo, i got a 52HM85 at FS for $2199.99, i got a 4 year PSP just because i really liked the way the sales rep handled the transaction, cool and no pressure at all, not to mentioned he agreed on a very good price (i believe)...weeks of bargaining finally paid off =)

I purchased my 62HMX85 in July 10th. My TV is beening service since October 10th. The problem is when I turn on the TV, you can hear the fan go on for about one second then a click and the fan turn off. The screen is blank and the red light blink in the front panel. You can turn off the TV only by unpluging the power.

By friend purchased the 52HMX85 in August and had this same problem after two hours. The dealer replaced his TV after he waited for 5 weeks for back order of lamp. By the way, the back orders of those lamp came in two weeks ago.

Anyone else has this problem or is it only me and my friend has this problem?

Thanks,

I broke down and bought. I got the 46HMX85 from Futureshop. After haggling for about 15 minutes i got the TV, Stand, GST, Enviro-Tax for $2500. I added on a 5 year PSP for $400.

I got it all set up, and loving it.

Hey guys,

Anyone here tried hooking up a media center PC to one of these TVs? I've got the 52HMX85, but have heard warnings about hooking a PC upto them. It'd be hooked up likely with component, though I would go DVI-HDMI if I had to.

Think it would work ok? I'm looking at the HP z555.

I have read I believe from www.avsforum.com that it is fine to hook up the TV. The only reason why they warn about this in the manual is so that they don't have to support any problems with people hooking up there PC.

I am ready to buy a 46HMX and figured that I should be able to find one for $2200 (I don't need a stand) - I don't want any extra warranty either. When I go into future shop they say no cheaper than $2500. The other thing that bugs me is that I want to buy it over 36 months but as soon as I say that they say well that costs us an extra $300. So they are even less willing to haggle. You guys are obviously much better hagglers than I am - I am in the lower mainland of B.C. - any suggestions as to where I can go??

When I bought my 46HMX85 a month ago the best price I could get out of Future Shop in Prince George was $2500 including the stand. I ended up buying from Visions for $2375 including stand. With PST & GST the total cost was $2707.

I don't understand how paying the TV off over 36 months would cost future shop $300, are you getting 36 months interest free? If not you will be paying a crap load in interest, and Future Shop will be making more money off you. If you're financing over 36 months and it's not interest free, go to a bank, they won't gouge you nearly as bad and you can get a better deal on the TV.

It's none of my business but why would you want to pay this off over 36 months? If you can swing it a lot of stores have 6 month interest free deals, the only downside is if you take longer than 6 months they will ding you big time.

Hi:

Financing over a period of time costs interest. If FS - or anyone else - gives you that option, they are going to have to eat the interest. Is that interest 28.8% like you would pay with their card - absolutely not but it costs none the less. They are less willing to haggle over price because financing costs them more than cash. Even though it says FS - or whoever on the "credit card" it is all done through 3rd party lenders. You should still be able to knock some off the price, though, just not as much.

I am not certain what to purchase of the two 52hmx95 or the 46hmx.. Why doesnt the 46hmx not show up on toshiba's website on their product list? Whats the real difference between the two. The bulbs the same? I know the 46 only has one hdmi anything else different. I guess it comes down to size difference if they are both going to give the same pic qualty. Anyone advice or wisdom?

Hi, I am here for couple weeks now. I need to make a choice between 52hmx85 and 46hmx85 too (52hmx95 is even newer?). Checking from the website and FS, Audio specification is another big difference: 52 with both Virtual Dolby™ Surround Sound and WOW™ by SRS® Surround Sound, but 46 only has WOW™ by SRS® Surround Sound. No idea how big difference there are. Any comments? Thanks.

One more thing, I am in Calgary, I couldn't find any store warranty including lamp replacement, and it is said that's consumed part. Thanks.

46hmx and 52hmx are same vintage... biggest difference obviously is screen size :D ie. 46" vs. 52"

From a sound perspective... both are fine for day to day viewing. For movies etc you will want to investigate surround sound systems. Even most of the lower priced surround sound bundles will outperform the TV's built in sound. No problem to add this later if you're on a tight budget.

Most extended warranties exclude the bulb.

anyone having problems with this TV? I purchased a 46HMX85 back in Sept and the first one died on me after one month. The screen kept getting dimmer and dimmer then eventually no image. I got a replacement and the same thing happened after 2 months. I'm so pissed.

Just a comment about not buying the extended warranty .. to me it's a bit of a risk because these tv's having moving parts and if something happens then it could be very expensive to fix.
