Chevy2410...

I think this question should have been asked...in order to clarify the situation...

Are you and your buddy in the same house?

Because if that is your situation...there is no problem...case closed...

However...there would be a problem if two people split accounts accross a city and if this is what you two are doing, we as subscribers have a right to be upset.

Yes I should have clarified my situation better. We live in the same house, I'm upstairs and he's downstairs. He has the sub and I want to add a 9200. According to Bell you can have up to 6 receivers on 1 account location. He has 1 and I have 2. Since I'm the one buying the 9200, I just didn't want to give any info of mine to bell. Now since he's the sub I imagine he will get the box labeled "9200 exsisting customer".

How do you find the PQ from the 9200 via coax?

I'm doing this too but I'm finding that the picture from the 9200 is rather grainy. I also hooked up the composite outputs into my own powered modulator to compare. The separate modulator produced a brighter picture but still sort of grainy compared to the ouput of my 5100 and 6100 which are nice and clear (both on a serparate modulator). I have them all on different channels that are distributed throughout the house.

Maybe I have a poor cable somewhere or something. I'll have to re-check my wiring and connections.

I had an old TV that the picture was horrible on. I could only get a visible picture if I set the 9200 to an AIR channel at the top of the range. Even then it was bad. I ended up using a newer VCR to feed that TV.

I found (for me) the CABLE setting gave a cleaner picture that the AIR setting.

I replaced the coax strand from the 9200 to the wall and I think it might be a little better. It's not bad, but not as good as what I get (through an external modulator) from the 5100 and 6100. Still it's not bad now and will be fine for watching in the bedroom.

I have heard that there is no 9 day guide. I have not seen how many day guide that there actually is. Could someone please confirm this for me. I know with my 6000 it was like a 3 hours guide if I was lucky.

- 180hrs of SD, 25hrs of HD or a mixture.
- While recording on both TV's you can also watch previous recording from disk or an OTA channel. You can also record OTA channel at same time.
- Two recordings on TV1 and live TV on TV2?... No (there's only two SAT tuners + OTA)

Does anybody have a 4;3 aspect Ratio HDTV set up with the 9200?

Can't afford a new TV right now but have a HDTV Sony 43" RP and wondering how HDTV programming looks and feels on a 4:3 TV.

I have read several posts with 16:9 TV's but nothing with a 4:3.

Will there be black bars or how will it look.
Thanks

Just thought maybe that since there are 3 Built Tuner's that you could Record Something On tv1 and watch a different Show not from HD as well as someone else watching Something Different on tv2, But It does not look like it. So the 3rd Tuner is exclusive to the Ota broadcasts then. In the future I can see the being a handy thing but at the Moment I am sure I would get no Ota channels here in Wpg.

Depends what modes your TV can display?
9200 offers 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i

I have tried the 9200 to Sony XBR 4x3 at 480p. In general an HD channel shows crisper, brighter an clearer than it's SD counterpart. Also at 480p on a 4x3 set the zoom works for HD broadcast so you can zoom a 4x3 shape HD image to fill your screen... again looks better than same SD channel.

Not sure if you've had a PVR before? Don't overlook the fact that you can watch a pre-recorded show from disk at the same time that say TV1 is recording and TV2 is watching live TV.

With potentially 180hrs of recorded programming on the disk, this is very convenient. My personal preference is to never watch live TV... no commercials!

The closest I like to get to live TV is about 15 minutes back using chasing playback... i.e. watching a show as it's being recorded but 15 minutes behind.

Question about the tuners... are they switchable between TV1 and TV2? For example, TV1 to HDTV downstairs, TV2 to upstairs SD. I program show to record on tuner1. I come home and want to watch something else live, is tuner1 locked on TV1? Would this mean I HAVE to watch live TV now on TV2 or otherwise interrupt my recording on TV1 in order to watch live TV on TV1?

Recorded events are pooled and can be watched on either TV.

No, you can move your active recording on TV1 to TV2 without any interruption, allowing you to start watching live on TV1. How to do this has already been discussed:

After waiting for so long for an HDTV PVR to come out, I didn't even realize it had come out until just today. I have been talking to BEV support and have to say they've been aweful at answering my questions about it... and even less helpful/energetic at pointing me in a good direction to spend the big dollars to buy it.
The make or break question I have is regarding the special $10 HDTV networks package... if I can watch network channels in HDTV, I wanna do that, but we already have a couple non-HDTV receivers, and if I get a 9220 added to our package with the HDTV package, can I still watch the networks on my other receivers?
The family would riot if everyone couldn't watch their different primetime shows on the networks, and I can't justify buying the 9220 if I only get the movies, Discovery and TSN in HDTV.

Adding a 9200 will have no impact on your other receivers. All receivers will have the same programming and in addition the 9200 will give you the capability to add the HDTV networks.

The SD Network channels are included in the "Digital Standard" you must buy. The HD pack gives you the HD channel's and the second feed of the networks in SD.

If you go onto the BEV website you can see what the different packages give you.

For those that would like to see the menus on the 9200, I've taken some pics.
Excuse the flash in the screen, not much I could do about it :(
