For those who were able to check individual stores' stock for the 9200 at Future Shop, how did you do it? I only find the 9220 on their website. Nothing for the 9200 at all.

The store stock on the FS web site is often wrong. They also did not list the 9220 (it said 9200 but the stock number was for the 9220, now corrected.) I first visited the local stores and talked to a salesman and asked when the next shipment was due. I then phoned back that day. If they did not get them I then asked when they next expected them. I then repeated until I had the item in my greedy little hands.

The web store had the 9200 listed at $569. I went in with a web page printout when they had a $50 store wide discount. I got a rain check for $519 and kept calling until they had them in stock. Unfortunately, you will probably have to pay $600 for the 9200 now.

The CSR i talked with today said that the 9200 would not be available for shipping until Sept. 2. He also told me that the receiver would be shipped to an installer who would come and hook it up for $80 and that having it shipped directly to me was not an option. I did not make the purchase. Hope to find one in a store and install it on my own.

Walked into a store and asked the clerk to do that for me. I did that with every chain I could think of that carries Bev gear.

About two weeks ago, I happened to drop by a FutureShop and that is when I discovered that the 9200 was out (I never got the memo...LOL). Of course, FS had the display and signage, but no stock.

When I got back home, I called my usual satellite supplier and he was sold out. Later that same day I decided to drop into another local outfit that I don't usually frequent and he had several ("for existing subscribers" like me) in stock and ready to sell.

I said SOLD! I had to pay the full $599 price, but I think that is still a very good value for what is included (like the complete dish setup and SW44 for example). In the USA the 942 seems to be US$600+ and I'm not sure that even includes all the extras.

So - make sure you call around to all the home electronics outfits in your area.

PS: be prepared for plenty of minor SW bugs.

I tried finding a 9200 in Ottawa on Sunday and no-one had any. At one BellWorld store the clerk told me that they had 30 people on a wait list and that they had been getting an average of only 1 9200 per week and that he wasn't sure when that would improve. When I got home I called Bell and the CSR told me that there was previously a problem with the supply of 9200s (they didn't have enough) but that that problem was now fixed (at least at Bell) and that they were now shipping out receivers as they received orders. I ordered one then (Sunday) and it arrived Wednesday morning. The CSR also said that the different stores should start getting more 9200s soon but could not say when.

I do find it very confusing though why Bell is giving so many existing subs problems when they try to buy 9220s and then send you a 9200 which is actually a 9220 with a 9200 sticker stuck over the 9220 sticker. I could see it if the 9200 and 9220 were actually different (usually you would think that the 9200 would only include the receiver) but the 9200 I received included the sattelite dish, 2 dlnbs, a sw44, etc...

I got lucky yesterday. I'm a current subscriber and walked out of Best Buy with a 9220.

I had called ahead to confirm that they had 9200s in stock and I was told that they had ond left that would be put aside for me. When I got there it turned out to be a 9220. However, the salesman I got was extremely helpful (and sympathetic), and knowing that he wasn't supposed to sell me a 9220, got on the phone with Bell and wouldn't give up until they okayed the sale.

Listening to his conversation was extremely entertaining. He kept on asking the Bell rep "why?" whenever he got an answer he didn't like. After a series a "why?"s he finally asked, more or less, "So you're telling me that you don't want my client's money, and you're preventing me from making a sale because of a sticker?". 10 minutes, and a fax from the store later, I had my receiver.

It would be nice if Bell would take a page out of the Best Buy customer service book.

Funny thing is that this was my first time walking into a Best Buy, and I was extremely impressed by the level of service and knowledge displayed by the staff. Heads and tails better than any other chain electronics store that I've experienced. It's funny because I've read nothing but negatives about Best Buy from US home theatre forums. I expected the worst but got the opposite.

Has anyone found any difference at all between the 9200 and the 9220 (other than price sometimes...) ?

My 9200 seemed to be just '9200' stickers over the '9220's and a big yellow sticker about '...for existing subscribers only...".

Nobody has detected any real difference ?

Jeffy....

It's been reported in many posts, that the box contents of the 9200 and 9220 are exactly the same....for now....

I would guess however this will change, once this initial roll out is complete, and current subscribers will likely only get the receiver, again, this is only a guess.

IMHO, the fact that current subscribers (like me) get the receiver, dish, dish mounting hardware, 2 Lnb's, SW44 switch and lots of cables(RCA,component,HDMI,DVI Adapter, phone, etc) for $100 less then the comparable Starchoice product ...is quite simply, the BEST Satellite deal in the country right now, and probably the Best ever....

I checked everywhere, there's no 9200 in Quebec City! I ordered one at Future Shop Fleur-de-Lys three weeks ago and I'm still waiting for it...

I couldn't find one anywhere in Vancouver stores, but I called Bell and they scheduled an install on Aug 30th.

As was my worry, The Brick keeps putting off the delivery date on my receiver. At this point I have no reason to think that it won't actually arrive, but it's frustrating that they keep moving the date back.

I stopped by the FutureShop at Northland Village in Calgary yesterday. The rep. I spoke with said they received 10 units in July when they first shipped, and haven't seen any since then. He says every day people come in and ask about them.

Sounds like there must be a container ship somewhere in the middle of the Pacific with my 9200 on it! ;)

I'm sure Bell understands the importance to customer satisfaction that they provide adequate numbers of units in time for the fall TV season.

I'll check back in mid-Sept.

Regards,
Ken

It is so hit and miss even in Future Shops. I had ordered one via Bell over the phone, the installer never should up claiming they couldn't get the receiver in. A week later I was at the Shawnessy F/S and asked if they had any in, looked it up - none in stock, not expecting any soon. The next day was near the Macleod F/S, stopped in, asked and they had 10 on the shelf!!! Called Bell, cancelled the order and bought one there!
