For months now I have not been able to get CFTO and it is very frustrating, so I sent off an email to CTV letting them know of this problem.
Who is getting this channel and who is not and what are you using to pull HD in?

This what I'm using an htpc with ATI HDWonder card at 80% signal strength

audiohead, all discussion of Computer OTA cards and other such computer-related OTA equipment belongs in the

Home Theatre Personal Computer (HTPC) & Digital Media Servers Forum:

http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/for...splay.php?f=31 (http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=31)

where you will find threads about the troubles with ATI cards for OTA.

I dont know, I noticed last night that when I tuned in to 40-1, that they had fixed the PSIP remap and it is now back at 9-1 without issues...

Except that the Guide list the shows as DTV Program... so does WNGS on 7-2...

It's not just other video cards I'm curious about but also digital receivers .
Sorry if i did not make this clear. I may get rid of my card and go with a receiver but if they are having problem with CTV than I may stay with what I have.

I wrote CFTO earlier this week, letting them know the specifics of some missing data in their stream. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but I notice CFTO is coming in on my end today.

Is anyone else who was having CFTO problems able to tune it in properly?

I'm using an HDTV Wonder with WatchHDTV.

I'm getting it now.

If they fixed what I think they fixed (which wasn't their PSIP), anyone who was getting CFTO and isn't now should rescan for a proper tuning.

It's a heck of a coincidence if they didn't change anything, so I'll wait until my contact there gets back to me before saying for sure...but that's two days in a row it's working for me with the latest HDTV Wonder drivers and decoder and using WatchHDTV (no MMC installed -no stuttering. no audio delay during channel changes, no freezes etc...).

Yes, the TSID fix we put in place this morning has the side benefit of making CFTO more compatible with my Samsung HDTV as well. It was coming in as 40-4 (a nonexistant virtual channel) and is now showing up properly as 9-1. I would expect that a rescan is in order for everyone (and rescan for WIVB 4-1 this weekend too I'm hoping).

So should I be getting guide information from CFTO now? I don't, and it's the only Toronto/Buffalo station that I never get guide info for.

No, they don't broadcast guide information in their stream. It's working as expected (technically speaking).

does anyone know if they are planning to? why let bandwidth go to waste.

My TV (Philips) will not store 40-1 during autoscan. The signal is strong but the only way to watch that channel is to manually add it each time. And even then it will not store but I can watch it. Is any one else having this problem?

yup, a lot of people are having that problem, there is an old thread on that and it goes on and on and on.
I suggest you call and e-mail them.

Don't use the "contact" email address from their website - I did and got no reply.

Finally got an answer today from CFTO, after being passed around like a splif at a Floyd concert.
CFTO is concentrating on getting guide info contracts signed with subscription based services - ie TV Guide.
Guide info may be added to its OTA stream only after this is accomplished.
TV Guide is stopping its print version next month (at least in Canada) and will be web-based only starting Nov. 28th 2006, so I would assume we wouldn't see guide info before then.

Edit: there was no commitment to guide info being added to the PSIP stream

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Uh, just because I laughed at that doesn't mean I condone that behaviour. ;)
