Well, I was wrong. I expected HDNET and the Canadian version of DHDT to be approved next month. DHDT was approved and HDNET is still waiting. No words to describe the CRTC's decision on this matter.

If HDNET was called HDNET Canada and Bell had a vested interest in the channel then it would have been approved along with Discovery HD Theatre Canada.

Did I miss something? You mean Discovery Home Theater has been approved? Where is the link that mentions the decision? I'm confused... :(

It's sad that HDNET hasn't received anything. Time to send my old buddy Michael an email...asking him what pressures CCTA are applying in this situation...

Does this surprise you? Last time I checked, there were 89 interventions for the license. I am slowly loosing hope here...

I know early in the year the head of the CRTC was making a lot of noise about how the current policy for migrating to HD wasn't working in Canada and they were gonna swtart putting preasure on the broadcasters to get on with it. But I don't think there has been any real progress in the last year at all.

If they are holding out HDNet as a scare tactic I don't think it's working.

And now with elections on the way, I am sure HDNET is a top priority before Christmas....riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Now 35 months, just one month short of 3 years. Congrats CRTC for all the fine work.

There has been a change, here are the new rules, effective January 1, 2004, which limits political contributions to $ 5,000 (adjusted annually for inflation).

And here are the names of contributors to parties (select party and year of contribution):

Compare 2004 with, say, 1997.

As soon as Steve Harper anounces who his new Heritage Minister or what ever he wants to call it is. I will be writing to ask what the hold up is.

Well they aren't going to look at it now but they are saying down the road they will look at service times to get these kinds of decisions done. The good news is that it means that they may have to make an actual decision on this. Mind you CCTA has closed up shop so this application is probably void now. The bad news is the CRTC probaly has a couple of more years to mess around.

Funny how HDNet can't get approved but those boring Voom HD offerings get a free pass.
