I know ;) I was looking on the link that hdtv provided from a previous post and noticed that this week was going to be good.

Thank God, Friday is a holiday so I can play with it during the day.

I will try and swing towards Erie tonight and tomorrow and see what I can get.

jeneral that's good, maybe you can try and swing your antenna more west and see what Erie has to offer. :)

Tonight I think I will try and see what I can get from Erie.

FYI for Erie, PA:
WICU Channel 52 (remap to 12)
WJET Channel 58 (remap to 24)
WFXP Channel 22 (remmap to 66)
WQLN Channel 50 (no remap)

I believe WSEE-DT isn't actually broadcasting yet, its Frequency is on channel 16 but odds are, you wont get the CBS affiliate...

Was getting a good strong signal on 50 this morning 7:00am. .. got a lock on 22 too but it was weak. 50 does remap to 54. It's a PBS station.

Tried to get lock on the dish 811 for the Erie channels no luck it fluctuates but no steady lock.

Swing the antenna back to Rochester they are there.

I think Iam too far east and north, will give it a try again tomm.

Check out my DX report from last year.

http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26789

I managed to catch Detroit, MI & Carthage, NY that is over 200 miles away!

I guess I hold the record on here for distance in DX'ing :p

I'll try and beat that this year. My best is 2 Cleveland channels at 180 miles last year.

I live in Whitby Ont. (just east of the GTA) and have a Winegard SquareShooter 2000 mounted in my attic pointed at South Buffalo that I will be moving outside at some point. I noticed an exceptionally strong signal on WGRZ tonight and did a scan and added WROC, WHEC, WHAM, WUHF and WXXI Rochester digital stations as well as WSTM, WSTQ, WEAT and Tube digital in Syracuse. On the downside I seemed to have lost CBC French and CTV.

Looking at the map in post #71, is there a bit of tropo/ducting/skip going on over western Lake Ontario now (April 29, 2006)?

See the results post from eyeQ in Bowmanville and the response from vmpv in Whitby:

I don't know if this was because of DXing but last night at about midnight I got 26-1 a low power church station from Jamestown NY = TBN - WNYB 26 9.4 kW (1470')

At about 70% strength! Amazing!

Nothing this afternoon

I get that crap channel rock solid every single day (winter or summer).
They have a great tower location or they are putting out more than 9.4 kW.
It comes in better than WGRZ at my location in St. Catharines.

When I point my antenna that way I have no problem receiving this channel all the time. It just kills me that a crappie religious station can out-do WGRZ!

Channel 26 is a much better channel to be using then 33 plus the religious guys got a better tower. WGRZ told me their final output power is limited to 480Kw thanks to the CBC (Industry Canada) making claim to the same channel to be used in Barrie, Ontario some day... and when this day arrives and they start using channel 33 in Barrie this will cause us more problem with trying to receive WGRZ. The FCC screwed up here... WGRZ should have been given channel 27 and the religious channel 33.

The religious channel 26 operates on DT-27 with a newly constructed and licensed transmitter ERP 213. kW at an Overall Height Above Mean Sea Level 867.8 M.

WGRZ on the other hand operates on DT-33 with a newly constructed and licensed transmitter ERP 480. kW at an Overall Height Above Mean Sea Level: 678.8 M.

WGRZ lacks the high..

Cblt analog repeater in Barrie is directional north .The digital repeater will most likely be the same so no interference in GTA whenever it gets on air.Its the low tower height of WGRZ compared to others that makes them weaker.

I've got an outdoor antenna on the roof, and there's something strange happening. I have look in the forum for the answer but people have exactely the opposite of me.

Whenever it rains my reception gets better but with analog and digital, with digital i go from 5 bars to 10 bars(SRCHD).

Can somebody explain this to me, my take is that there is probably something not well connected and the rains running down the wires makes it better, but i've check everything and can't find it.

I would guess it has nothing to do with your equipment but the atmospheric conditions combined with location and surroundings. I don't think that weather will play the same tune everywhere, and certainly you can't expect the same results via OTA or with satellite which is more sensitive to weather conditions. If your reception improves during those times, enjoy!

...my take is that there is probably something not well connected and the rains running down the wires makes it better, but i've check everything and can't find it.That is what I was thinking, but since you don't see any problems in the lines I don't know what is causing it.
