Yes!! I finally caught NBC-HD out of Syracuse this morning (3.1, 3.2, & 3.3 weather) @ 40 - 50%. I have a pic but will post in my gallery shortly. Can't attach pic's to my posts as of yet.

I was lucky enough to catch a couple of channels from Utica, New York, early this morning. It was 55 degrees and clear, at 1:30AM. I live in Belleville, Ontario and it was about 150 miles from my location, using a YA1713 VHF and PR8800 UHF, both Winegard. The antenna was 25 feet off of the ground. I found channel 20,WUTR analog and the digital signal at 30.1, 30.2. I also received a second channel, WKTV on 29.1. Stills to follow:

Hey everybody!

Hehe....PrinceLH you beat me to it! I was going to report that during my "downtown" weekend in Toronto at my friend's apartment I also picked up the same two Utica stations that you did on Saturday! (WKTV was the RF 29 that was flickering but not locking on the Friday night.) I'm assuming that being on the 27th floor helped a LOT for my reception this past weekend. I was already amazed to be getting Syracuse for the first time digitally, but Utica was a special bonus! I'm gonna have to do a major report on my TV Garth blog very shortly! Great pics of the stations, btw, PrinceLH. I got logo shots of WKTV but no logos for WUTR, since it was late and my friends were trying to push me out the door after torturing them with my OTA obsession! We were originally coming back to my friend's apartment around 11pm to play GameCube and when I saw that WKTV was still coming in, I forced them to sit through the Utica news as I took pictures of it. When I started taking pics of 2-2 WKTVDTV2, we watched most of the super trashy episode of Cheaters that was on. To them it was just watching Cheaters. To me I was thinking "We're watching Cheaters on a station from Utica!!!" I was almost sad when I returned home to Markham late Saturday night and saw no flickers of the Utica and Syracuse that I had just been receiving downtown.

@Mark2074 congrats on getting Rochester and Syracuse! Glad to see the new antenna is working so well :)

Loving all the pics and reception reports everybody!

Wow. A few nights running and all buffalo channels are in the 55-65% range. This is 30 points lower than normal. I find it a HUGE drop.

So, after years of, *ahem*, bragging about my non-pre-amped system on these boards, I have panicked and ordered some amping from our sponsor (who were excellent to deal with by the way). Humble pie all around.....

Anyone else seeing a drastic drop in both Grand Island and South Buffalo?

I haven't noticed any change in Buffalo signals, but Erie signals have been like a rollercoaster lately.

Sounds like either your antenna's aim has changed left/right or is sagging toward the earth, or someone has built something near you recently that is causing reflections [multi-pathing].

They have been messing with the psip portion of the 3 stations coming from the Hamilton tower over the past few days. I have noticed [or suspected] that whenever they mess with broadcasts from the CH tower, my CBC signal goes wacko. Could that effect distant reception coming from Buffalo ?

@tenstu
I am wondering if perhaps you have the opposite of what you think. You might just be experiencing over powering issues. I noticed that on evenings of good tropo the closer signals are actually amplified. In my case 19-1 SUN TV is always 100% but on good tropo days the signal actually drops. I too have no pre amp in my set up.

Last night from my London home was great.
new channels DXed to my PISP
52-1 WGGN-DT Music station from Sandusky Oh
52-2 WGGN-DT
30-1 WGTE-HD PBS Toldeo, Oh 147 miles
30-2 Family
30-3 Create
27-1 WBGU-HD PBS Bowling Green, Oh miles
27-2 WBGUKID
27-3 Create
and this morning as I was on my way out the house
I picked up Columbus Ohio's PBS station too 217 miles

my PISP was trying to get 17-1 from Toledo but it just could not pull it in enough.
I have the weather conditions but they are not in front of me at the moment

and so the dxing continues

got CFPL-TV 10 on monday night/tuesday morning... that was a real surprise... also got a partial lock on WTOL-DT and WTVG-DT (detected a digital carrier, but could not lock on to the picture, like Panamark's situation)...

Good DXing early this morning, between 2:00-3:30. I noticed that WNYO & WGRZ were being knocked out, so I did a channel scan.

I received from OH

WEWS 5-1 on 15 (overpowered WBNF 15 which almost always comes in here)
WJW 8-1 on 31
WUAB 43-1 on 28
WUAB 43-2 on 28
WBNX 55-1 on 30

And from PA

WQLN 54-1 on 50
WQLN 54-2 on 50
WQLN 54-3 on 50

I was also getting Univision CH 61 analog from Cleveland. Their digital is broadcast on 34, so I figure that's what was knocking out WNYO. I was not receiving either station on 34 though. I figure 33 analog from Youngstown OH was what was knocking out WGRZ, but I was not receiving either channel.

ok, that's incredible. You're picking up stations from the Columbus, OH region. that's gotta be put in the "longest DX" contest the site's having right now. how'd you pull that one off? Surely you'd get interference from CJMT-DT Tornto (44) and either CFTV-TV Leamington or WHQS-DT Cleveland...

At 11:20pm tonight I suddenly lost channels 17,23,29,49. It's now midnight and their all still dead. Was there a major storm or power outage in the Buffalo/Grand Island area? Toronto, Hamilton, Erie & south Buffalo stations were not affecred at all.

actually WOSU's digital channel is located on channel 38 and remaps to 34-1 and WOUC's digital channel is located on 35 and remaps to 44-1.

Now that I have my Channel Master 4221HD mounted on a tripod on my roof I have noticed a huge difference in reception reliability and and strength. For example WEWS-DT channel 5 from Cleveland would come in only on evenings and overnight but now I get it most of the day usually everyday.

well, this morning's been great! WPXD-DT's coming in once again... it's sunny, very windy from the southwest, and about 17 C (66 F). let's hope this lasts.

Follow-up from post 751. WBNX is licensed to Akron, OH, & WUAB to Lorain, OH, making them the furthest of my results the other night. The transmitters are 218 & 219 miles away from my house.

Actually, I see from the FCC that WJW's transmitter is the furthest from my house, at 220 miles. I don't have an identifiable screen grab from them though, showing the station ID in it.

Yes it was nice DTV conditions last night,
I was getting 2-1 WJBK-HD, 4-1 WDIV-HD, 5-1 WEWS-DT, 43-1 WUAB-DT, 55-1 WBNX-DT, 61-1 WQHS-DT, and 62-1 WWJ-HD

conditions from London Airport @22:00 May 31, 2009
9C cloudy
winds: 6km/h
pressure: 101.73
rela humi: 71%
visibility: 24 kms
ceiling: 20000 ft

I got 24-1 WJET-DT from Erie for 5 minutes too.

Man, the Stanley Cup finals Game 2 HD feed on 4-1 WDIV-HD blew away the Rogers CBC HD feed. Good game.

I get to much interference from 31 CITY Woodstock transmitter to pull in Cleveland's WJW FOX on 8-1. There temp. DTV allocation is on DTV 31.

Over the weekend I had lost WUTV. Last night Fox was back rescanned at 14.3 and 14.4. It was also showing up on 29.1 and 29.2 . My signal strength in Waterdown went from 40 ish back to 69% last night with no drop outs. Their must be some changes going on south of the border? I thought I would have to re aim the antenna. So far so good. I guess will have to see what happens after the full transition. BTW, the sports channel needs to fix its image quality.
