WIVB-DT perfect picture David Letterman. Cant get WGRZ though. Some of the analogs coming in well in Ottawa too - Fox 29, WNED 17, and 23 WNLO.

The reason youre not getting Buffalo well in Toronto is because the signal got diverted - to Ottawa :)

Last night again. Fox was around 65% but went completely out before 9pm for Fringe. Lost MY TV as well. PBS droped to a low 65% (normally 100%) and NBC was always close to or at 100%.

I don't understand why NBC is awesome right now and Fox keeps going out every night.

All these outages are why I'm looking forward to the Analog shutoff. Hopefully when that happens, we will get fewer of these interruptions.

When DX or skip conditions occur there is less signal strength in the normal area at the end of the line of sight or just past reception area as some of this signal is skipped away weakening the normal areas signal. If Wutv Buffalo signal is in Ottawa it has to take away the signal from elsewhere,Toronto gets less. This will not change after analog shut down. But if a skip signal interferes with a normal signal this may improve after analog shut down.Analog 21,33 from Youngstown blocking reception of WGRZ digital 33 or analog WXXI 21.Also signal overload from the analogs will stop possibly improving tuner or preamps gain.Digital WUTV and WNYO have directional signals to the south thus they have a weak signal in the GTA with little to spare for poor conditions.

Didn't lose Fox Buffalo tonight but was mid 60's.

Started getting NBC, CBS, ABC and PBS from Rochester.

As of 12:25am I'm receiving NBC, CBS and ABC at 98-100%. Fox is steady at 70%. The Rochester affiliates are coming in at 57-60%.

253PM and WNED (PBS) is 20-35% and gone. All other Buffalo channels blowing off the roof. What is the weather doing almost EVERY afternoon to cause this dropout...?

I think I am getting obsessed...

WGRZ/NBC is going all funny again tonight, and must the weather always pick prime time to do this?!

FOX was a mass tonight here as WNED came back. Fortunately, the analogue is not shut down yet and wifey got her 2 hours of Gordon Ramsay uninterrupted.

However, WGRZ was rock solid and I am maybe 2km as the crow flies from Winston Churchill Blvd..... albeit further south at 8th line and the QEW.
WEIRD!!!!

Must've been a UFO ;)
I was watching NBC from 9-10 no problems, and I'm like 50k away (a miniscule difference when you're talking about atmospheric conditions :p)

Last night we were getting strong reception of Utica here in Ottawa as well as some Syracuse. I had a few hours of watching of WSTM digital and WTVH -- also got WKTV digital for the first time which is very rare since UHF 17 has both WNED analog and the channel from Montreal analog - both megawatt stations. Also had WROC out of Rochester 8.1 on UHF 45.

Woke up this morning to the usual suspects - this time an immaculate picture of analog Fox 29 from Buffalo and an ubelievably crisp analog 27 Global from Peterborough as well as good solid reception of some of the Utica channels from last night including analog Fox 33 and analog Fox 68.

But not to worry everyone in the GTA the days of ducting will be short lived now as the cold air starts to blast us over the next few weeks. We'll be giving you back your Buffalo channels even during that late afternoon atmosphere turnover when you usually lose them.

It looks like this weekend is going to be great for reception. Hoping to get further than Pittston PA.

Many buffalo stations were gone or poor signal and I received most of the Rochester stations with decent reception.

Got a new one from syracuse last night.

3.1 WSTM
3.2 WSTQ
3.3 Weather

Just checked and it is still coming in as well as most Rochester stations and almost all Buffalo stations. Oddly my buffalo is almost coming in as it normally does signal strength wise. Usually they get screwed when I start getting Rochester.

Spent the weekend up on the Bruce Peninsula (Lake Huron Side)

With the exception of mid afternoon (1pm to 5pm) we almost always got

FOX HD 2.1 (WJBK)
FOX SD 2.2 (WJBK)
NBC HD 4.1 (WDIV)
NBC Weather Plus 4.2
CBS HD 5.1 (WNEM)
MY-TV FLINT 5.2
ABC HD 7.1 (WXYZ)
RTN SD 7.2
WXYZ Weather 7.3
WJRT ABC HD 12.1
WDCQ PBS 19.1/19.4
WMYD MY-TV 20.1
WEYI HD NBC 25.1
WFUM PBS 28.1
WTVS PBS 56.1/56.3
WWJ CBS 62.1

Got all that using just a old UHF/VHF combo on the roof (20ft) pointed out over the lake (southwest)
Odd enough sometimes it would be either just be the Detroit locals or the Flint locals. Its like that almost all the time in the summer, suppose the weather helped a bit this late in the season. We also get WWUP 10 or WBKB 11 almost all of the time in the winter, never been able to get their DTV channels... yet.

cm023, was that up around Port Elgin or further north from there? That's excellent reception, but my only worry is that antennas can get really iced up when the winter winds come off the lake! ;) OTOH with the hot weather today it might be just the tropo, as you indicate.

Stampeder, we are further north then that putting us a few km's south of Stokes Bay (parallel to Lion's Head) making those impressive but very often summer catches. Yes I do worry a bit in the winter but the cottage is somewhat protected by the trees and the antennas are nothing special anyway. Now, while I wait for our local re-broadcasters to start re-broadcasting in hd (keep dreaming), I need to prefect WWUP and WBKB for whenever they decide to boost their atsc power being some of the only American channels I can get reception on when the weather is not as nice.
