Just had 2 bars for a few minutes and a nice signal on WHEC-DT (58) in the Bathurst/Steeles area of Toronto, but just as I began to type this message it disappeared. I wish there was a way to have my setup always get the Rochester stations.

With that said, I was unable to get WNYW-DT still on 34.

I think you mean WNYB, WNYW is NYC, as wikipedia tells me. That's a long way off, and the local WNYB would overpower it :p

Last night was another great night for me here. Was able to get Cleveland for a few hours. That's about 225 miles or 360 kms. Pointed at 221 degrees. I'm loving how much stuff you can get when the weather co-operates.
Richard.

DXINFOCENTRE foresees fair conditions in southwestern quebec for days ahead

this morning, Ottawa channels were almost coming clear un Montreal :

CBOT-DT 25 at 81 %
CBOFT-DT 22 at 61 %
but no SUN TV DT 20 0% maybe CBMT-DT 20 was too strong
TVA CH 40 analog almost clear , same with TQS 34 analog

tropospheric effects will increase so let's check if SUN TV will be able to come in MTL !

sometimes WNPI DT 23 is coming in MTL when the dxing is strong enough..

have a good dxing week-end:cool:

WJBK & WDIV Coming strong, WXYZ is coming in here and there. However as I type this WJBK about 65% and WDIV and WXYZ are gone.

All of that Using simple rabbit ears in 2nd story window east of London.

Lots of FM Stations too, most coming in clear. WOMC is like Local (Not a hard catch in London) and 101.1 WRIF was owning even with adj 101.3.

Poor night for me Friday night in Oakville. Lost 23-1, 49-1 and 17-1 for a few hours. Fox 29-1 was iffy. Allo thers coming in as expected. Funny, as the weather seemed fine.

Anyone else see this?

This morning, all is back up to the 90%'s except 49 which is back to its usual 60's.

I am almost tempted to add another 4228 ganged with the existing 4228 pointed at Buffalo. I wonder if that would be enough to avoid the 2-3 nights a month this happens??

Hi Stu,

Here is a suggestion that might help you out? If you have a computer handy, create a spread sheet recording the Date, Time, temperature, Weather Conditions (raining, overcast, snow, fog etc.) Direction (rotation angle) if you have a rotor any other information number of antenna’s, airplanes above, leaves, etc. Record all signal levels of each station you can receive, under all weather conditions. If you change anything in your antenna setup, record it. (Example addition of preamp etc.) The information you collect will be unique (Example: depends what you use to monitor your signal strength, TV tuner, HTPC etc.) to your location and of course your setup. Yet will have many things in common with all UHF reception. You can take readings when ever you get chance over a period of year.

Hopefully it will give you some good information on how your overall performance of your antenna or antennas are working and might help explain why some days hours (night or day light) of the day your signal is coming in strong, lower or lost completely. See how seasonal changes, affects your overall setup and if you collect info long enough how ageing affects your system.

If anything you will have a good collection of information on your system as it evolves. Maybe you have already done something like this or you just haven’t got the time?

Late last night I had 2.1, 2.2, 5.1, 7.1, and 7.2 from Buffalo which were on 33, 38, and 39 UHF. Funny now my new TV tuner has two different 4.1's - one for the Buffalo channel and one for CBOT - CBC here in Ottawa - which is on UHF 25. Both were working at the same time since they are on different UHF frequencies.

I notice some changes as well.

Last night from 9.47 PM to 11.30
Weather condition clear 21C

29.1 59% ok
36.1 45% no picture :(
49.1 34% no picture :(

I did notice my LG Tv on ch 49 was getting picture but it was breaking up.

3 AM
Weather condition clear 18C
29.1 82% ok
36.1 52% ok
49.1 66% ok

Hmm, I have keep my eye on this not sure what’s happening? Could be some kind of interference causing signal attenuation. I don’t think there was any weather condition across the lake?

Fox has been rock solid for me for a long time and last night it was out. NBC flucuated a lot as well. At one point I had 100% and then 60%.

Had to scramble to record Terminator and Prison Break.

wow. WNED is GONe at 445PM . It has been on the brink of dying for about 200 minutes and has now disappeared.

The last couple weeks this has not happened, but previously you could set the clock by it at 440PM daily. Although this time it is completely gone - usually it sputters for about 10 minutes and returns.

Thinking about adding another 4228 for ganging my Buffalo mount to help out...

This is why I was glad that Global's up now :)
Fox was flakey, so I just watched them both on Global.

Yeah,
Global and Sun are hit and miss for me - I have to get up on the roof and do some tinkering.

Funny how this time of year lots of OTA'ers start contemplating how to tweak their rigs :)

Rock solid right now (NOVA - Monster of the Universe is currently on - the Milky Way in 1080i is what High Definition was built for )

Yep. Time to tinker! As of 830pm WNED is about 50-60% for me and not totally reliable.. But LORD, NBC et al are blowing the roof off! (except My TV at 39% and dead)
