Yeah it was an interesting and a good way to use the Sub Channels. The Main channel was the PBS feed, the 3 sub channels were all being used by the University for their own programming. Stev was cooking a Chicken!

The tropo maps for Sept. 29 and 30 look really great for Southern Ontario! :)

Yeah..pretty good tropo.

I was picking up WXXI-HD 16 (PBS) occasionally over the weekend. Strange though..I thought it was the weakest of the network stations in Rochester. Does anyone know if they've upped their power, or orientation?
I can't pick up any of the other Rochester HD channels at all..just a very snowy analog 13 (ABC). This is from a pair of CM4221's joined as a 4228, in my attic (near Warden & St. Clair), pointed at Buffalo.
Do you suppose reception will improve further once the leaves have fallen? I get most Buffalo stations reliably about 90% of the time.

Leglamp WXXI-dt is the easiest Rochester station to get.WROC-dt 45 is 2nd.then the others are harder to get in the GTA.These will not come in except during tropo.activity in GTA except in the east end.Their towers are just to low <500ft and too far away.

I'm in Mississauga and 2 weeks ago installed a 45 foot Tower with a DAT-75 antenna and rotor.

I've been having some of spectacular results with DXing with my new rig!

The past week I've documented digital reception of Pittsburgh, Akron, OH, Cleveland, and my best catch of all was Bowling Green State University that's over 400 Km away and run at a low 190 kW.

WBGU-TV OH BOWLING GREEN USA (Digital)
Licensee: BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY
Service Designation: DT Digital television station
Channel: 56 722 - 728 MHz Licensed
Polarization: Horizontal (H) Effective Radiated Power (ERP): 190. kW ERP

i've been getting city stronger actually over the last week than usual.

it is around now that leaves fall off trees and your signals will change, also, DXxing is strong tonight, I've been able to pull in rochester, so maybe your picking up 53 from London or something like that.

anything better than a rusty coat-hanger attached to your antenna terminals, you WILL pick up WNLO.

I locked it one time with a paper clip in the basement.

Yes - it was good conditions last night for us in Buffalo too- atleast in NT! I was getting CBC at unprecedented signal strengths last night - like 85-90% - and I started to get CTV at about 8:30 or so reliably at 45-50%! And CBLFT at about the same - AND CTV is still coming in right now! Hope this DX lasts!

Sunday afternoon, 2007/10/07, near Dufferin+Steeles. All the Buffalo stations except WNLO (a full megawatt transmitter sure helps) were either breaking up or not coming in at all. The weather was cloudy all day between here and Buffalo, with some rain as well. Is this the terrestrial equivalant of "rain fade"? For comparison, I normally get Buffalo stations 2.1/2.2, 4.1, 23.1, 43.1/43.2/43.3 OK and 7.1/7.2 half the time and 29.1 is rare.

Just got home from a dinner 10:20pm. Its getting foggy out in Markham.

Fog I find affects reception greatly. Lost MyTv 49-1 but all other Buffalo and Toronto stations are strong.

Then again I get pretty good signals.

For the first time ever I seem to be receiving CBS and NBC with higher reception than Fox. Fox is still it's usual 80% but CBS and NBC are close to 90 and 100. The one difference in my environment is that more leaves may have fallen off a tree that is ever so slightly to the right (west) of where the antenna is pointing. The tree to the left which I believe interferes more with my antenna direction hasn't lost as many leaves yet.

I'm assuming the absent leaves are making the biggest difference but I am curious if anyone else experienced better than normal reception tonight.

Seeing CBS and NBC Buffalo from Kingston again. I also picked up a RCA ANT3022 for a friend from Princess Auto, so I am "testing" it to make sure it works and it sure does work. I would get one for myself but it sticks out like a sore thumb on the patio even though its only 40" in length and I have the VHF elements folded up.

Reception is 10/10 bars from 2-1,2-2 and 9/10 for 4-1. It is also doing great for the Rochester channels 8-10 bars for most. I was actually watching Fox football in HD today and now Sunday night football in HD on NBC. I don't have HD signals for NBC and Fox locally from Watertown so it is a real treat.
