I installed a Winegard PreAmp on Monday and have been getting consistent KCPQ.

Don't know if a mild tropo is helping or not but my signal strength is around 20dB

Tonight I have a friend over so I may re position the antenna to see if I can pick up other SeaTac stations

Its good to see that you're keeping tropo in mind as you re-aim for SeaTac. It can be really frustrating to get such great reception only for a few days of the year! :D

Thanks Stampeder.

WHen I first made a small antenna and picked up all the Sea Tac stations I was giddy with excitement. WHen they disappeared I was choked and felt cheated. Haven't seen those stations since and know if it happens it will be cause of Tropo.

I doubt I will pick up the King's and the Kong's from Seattle but one does have to try

Last Night was the turn of UHF 26 to lockand I can confirm it is WTEN (WTEN transmiter is 327 km from my house!) it remap to 10.1 and 10.2. 10.2 is a Weather channel.

I wonder what will happen when TVA-DT will broadcast and remap on 10.1? I guess they will overwrite each other...

Good Tropo/dx reception around Lake Ontario.Received WWNY-dt CBS Waterdown remapped to 7-1 and 7-2 fox giving me another duplicate 7-1,2 .The usual wkbw-dt.This remapping is stupid.Atleast the tuners can handle multiple remapping to the same number.

WOW. I scanned last night and lost 49-1 but picked up 21-1,-2,-3-4.:D
I understand this is Rochester. I only have a DB4 and a sixfoot pole on my chimney. No preamp at all. Only did a rescan on the tv so I could catch SUN again.

Last Friday evening, I was picked up 3 Rochester signals on my CM4221: :D

21-1,2,3,4 WXXI - PBS
31-1 WUHF - Fox
8-1 WROC - CBS

Shortly after 10:00pm all of them started dropping out. But for a good 45 minutes or so they were coming in strong. During this event, I couldn't pull in 25-1 (French) which I almost always get strongly.

Last Thursday morning (Aug 2), I did a scan and was shocked at the number of channels I picked up. I can pick up Watertown stations some evenings, and rarely Syracuse. On this day I was picking up Rochester and Buffalo too!

Here's a summary, without all the subchannels:

3-1(54) WSTM Syracuse
4-1(39) WIVB Buffalo
5-1(47) WTVH Syracuse
8-1(45) WROC Rochester
9-1(17) WSYR Syracuse
43-1(44) WNYS Syracuse

I also picked up a couple of digital signals on 33 and 38, but the signal wasn't strong enough to get the station info, and about 6 analog station from Syracuse and Rochester.

I lost 50-1(21) WWTI Watertown, likely because there's an analog channel in Rochester on 21 that was interfering. I usually get 4-1 CBC Ottawa and 9-1 SRC Ottawa, so it was a little confusing having multiple channels mapped to the same number.

My setup is a homemade 4-bay in the attic, connected to a distribution amp, split to my Hitachi 42HDT52A tv and an ATSC tuner card in my PC.

vejostde, are you still using your homemade 4-bay to receive all those stations? Did you rotate it at all or was it pointing towards Watertown/Syracuse?

Yes, I'm still using the homemade antenna.
I didn't rotate it all. It's pointing towards the WNPI transmitter in Norwood, NY. I think I'd pick up the Watertown station a little more frequently if I aimed it there instead, since I don't watch that much on PBS, and I might still be able to get PBS off the side.

Kro ,

327 Km is intense!

vejostde,

Wow! Buffalo from Kanata, in an attic, aimed at a Norwood. I wonder if the 33 and 38 you almost got were also from South Buffalo:
33 - WGRZ (NBC)
38 - WKBW (ABC)
Their transmittors are all very close (~12 Km apart)

For those of you unfamiliar with eastern and southern ON, I'm estimating that to be ~ 360 Km, at a bearing that has to be greater than 80, perhaps almost 85 degrees from where the antenna is pointing. Oh yeah,... and in case you didn't catch it,... this was in an attic with a home made antenna.

Very good DX results !

Last night there was very good Tropo/dx.

Got a lock on WCDC (ABC) UHF 36 remap 19.1 (332 km) this is a repeater of WTEN.
WVER-DT VHF 9 (PBS) almost lock the funny thing is that I was still getting src analog (With a lot of noise) sherbrook on VHF 9.

I was also getting some signal on UHF 18, 24, 27, 29, 34, 38, 42, 54, 55, 57, 59. and on analog TVA on UHF 40 and an ABC station on 38.

Wow just started testing out my new DAT-75 thats up on a 45 foot tower... and I'm getting all kinds of stations I never seen before. This ones out of Akron, OH called WBNX. Analog is on channel 55 and digital is on 30.

are you able to get that station all the time, or just on nights when the weather permits? like last night.

also, can you post your results and signal strenghts with your new tower?

HD that is pretty good so you must be able to get Cleveland and a lot of south west stations on the dxing days too. This week is a good week for dxing. :)

Iam too lazy to swing my antenna to find new channels as that mean I would have to rescan. Station loacted east are easy for my as my east view is clear.

I guess I'm just the King of DX here... but finding 2 new stations out of Pittsburgh tonight was a new record for me.

WPXI channel 11-1 came in on digital 48

WPXI channel 11-2 was the weather & traffic map

WTAE 4-1 was the other channel I found on digital 51

Think that's far? I remember back in 1986 watching stations from Pierre SD and Bismarck ND from Hawkesbury, ON. PBS was on almost all channels in the VHF-lo band.

Now I want one of those antenna as well.
