You just have to take their word on its quality, which seems to be generally fine for conventional indoor/outdoor use but maybe not for burial or air plenums. Here is Solid Signal's page on that brand:

If you want to be sure, check into the pro-grade Amphenol, Weico, and Belden coax, amongst other top brands:

i cannot believe how bad my reception had deteriorated. I was looked forward to getting strong signals all year long, but this is garbage.

in the summer when i setup my antenna system. I got City-dt at 50% and CTV at 90-100%

now...

City-dt 25-30%
CTV - 50-75%

what has gone wrong

i spent more money that i had wanted to already in the summer on my antenna system. And now i'm looking at replacing my preamp (possibly for nothing, it could be something else) or replacing my entire cable line, another 40$ when it might possibly not even be that.

there was a time when I thought OTA was the greatest thing ever, but honsetly its really starting to suck.

026163,
You had a lot of trees on your property didn't you? Have they all lost their leaves down in Niagara yet?

Edit, never mind I just saw your pics from earlier in this thread and it appears so.

It is a weird happening.

I bet CITY was only working due to tropo.

At my house:
CFTO is the same 75 % and CBLT 80 % with antenna (4228) facing Buffalo.

And my levels are the same or greater now.
WGRZ is up 10%

no theres no way City-dt was tropo. I got it 2 months straight at a constant 45-50%.

then over the course of a month, it's signal slowly dropped, to 40% then a week later 35% and now it was coming in around 25%

i ran new cable i had rolled up straight from the antenna to my computer, into the power box for preamp, and into computer, the cable run was actualyl about 20feet shorter this way, but different cable. The results.....exact same. Nothing had changed.

So i now blame this on my cheap preamp. My guess, as its gotten colder, its gain has slowly dipped. I took it back today, and exchange for a more expensive preamp made by Wade/Delhi....although the only name i see on the actual preamp is Taco.

im gonna see how my new preamp works tomorrow.

Taco is a company that produced antennas for military and government clients since WWII and have been aquired by Wade Antenna.

From my experience. It seems that reception is always better when it's humid outside. I think that during the colder months, it is also dryer outside, which could be why the reception isn't as good as it is during the summer.

026163 during warmer weather the range of Uhf stations is slightly more.I have had my 4248 yagi for 10 years.During warmer weather analog 51 always comes in clear but soon as cold weather from north comes in it becomes snowy. This has happened every year.Analog 51 is 161km from my location. The closer stations are not effected by this and its not tropo.Something whether its humidity or other atmospheric condition effects max range and signal. The Toronto digitals are so weak and are easily affected at fringe range. My digital reception of Buffalo and Toronto stations is very reliable and I am completely satisfied.I did spend alot of time finding a reliable position for City-dt because of trees.

Yes this happens in Canada. In fact, some parts of the country get a few meters of the white stuff every year :D

sorry, just couldn't resist!!! ;)

Now we return to your regularly scheduled programming.......

ya if i turned my rotor to cleveland, i was getting FOX-dt on 31, ABC-dt on 15, and Univision-dt 34.

Meanwhile, if i aimed my rotor back to Buffalo, i'd get WNYO-34 has well.

WNYO 34.1 earlier in evening, now 2/10
WXXI 21.1/.4 reciving @ 6/10. Never picked up Rochester before.
Likely side-lobe pick-up on my 4221 aimed at WGRZ, south Buffalo.

I thought tropo was a summer thing? I'm still playing with my Mini-State and learning about my TV, picked up these last night:

D2-1 WGRZ-HD NBC (84-87%)
D2-2 Weather
D4-1 WIVB-HD CBS (52-64%)
D4-2 Radar
D7-1 WKBW-HD ABC (80-86%)
D7-2 WNSG-SD
D31-2 WNLO-HD CW (66-74%)

I've seen these too!!
D5-1 CBC-HD
D61-1 ????

on Analog: 2-NBC, 4-ABC, 7-CBS (south buffalo); 26 (Jamestown); CW, PBS (grand Island)
Shop-at-Home on 67 . Anyone have any idea where that is originating from?

The dx does not occur only during the summer time. I think it has to do with the temps are warmer than normal and certain atmospheric pressure. But it does happen more foten in warmer weather.

i'm getting Cleveland ABC (15) and Youngstown CBS (41) both at 100% right now. FOX Cleveland (31) is at 90%

i'm also getting Univision on 34 from Akron, OH at 75% and WUAB from Lorain, with the TUBE attached as a subchannel (same as rochester)

man i wish Buffalo at a station with the Tube as subchannel.

This is rediculous though. Cleveland is 180 miles away...!!!!

Okay, I live in Brampton.

I always pick up all the Buffalo and Toronto channels in my bedroom with the HDTV Wonder, but never do I get Buffalo's CBS, ABC, or NBC in my living room with my analog antenna.

But tonight, I'm picking up NBC Erie 12, ABC Erie 24, CBS Erie 35, some shopping channel on 68, another NBC on 21, and a PBS on 54. What the hell?! @_@!

They're blocking out my Global 41 and CW 23 signals a bit, though.

as far as i'm concerned the DXing tonight has absolutely ripped all my digital reception. I'm getting 0% on almost half my digital channels that i usually get, some of those at up to 75% normally. The only channels that are coming through are the extremely stong ones. CBC, CW, PBS, ABC, NBC, CBS. They are all still at 100%

i'm missing CTV, CITY, CBCF, FOX and SUNTV. This is garbage. My analog is fine. ATSC has a long way to go still, because right now it had wayyy to many weaknesses. I'm pissed because now I'm not gonna see spiderman 2 in HD on FOX.
