LaRouge - I'm not sure what specifically your question is, but the separators only work with Dish Pro Plus equipment - not the SW44 switches. If you're using SW44 switches, each tuner must be directly connected to one of it's four outputs. So dual tuner PVR's need two cables from the switch to PVR.

thanks for replying scrooloose. yes i have the sw44 switches. so i'd have to run another line to one of the rooms for 9242 to control the 2nd tv?

Yes you will, unless you were to change the entire Installation.

The second line is actually for the second Tuner so the 9242 can function as it was designed to do.

I just recieved my 9241 today to replace the 5900 that I had previously. I have one sat dish with an lnb with two outputs. I see a lot of discussion about switches and things so that someone can run only one line from the dish to the reciever. Can't I just run two feeds from the dual lnb? No one seems to address that issue? I don't want to do that if it won't work though because it would be quite a bit of work if it does not. :(
I am currently watching it with only one feed. Does not seem to be a problem except when I try to record something. Then it tries to record something from the feed I do not have hooked up. Can't seem to specify want feed to record off of. Has anyone figured out how do that so I can use this reciever until I get the other issue solved. Thanks for any help I recieve.

Yes you can run it with 2 feeds from the same lnbf, no problems at all.

If you have an HDTV and would like to take advantage of a few free HD Channels, you should look at getting a DPP Twin LNBF and a DPP Separator.

I spent all morning and half the afternoonrerouting cables and now my new 9241 works great. Thanks Pinza. It was scary looking at all of the information about switches and stuff that I would need. I was hoping I could just plug it in to the old set up.
Now I have to wait a bit for warm weather so I can set up another dish for my old 5900 pvr. It used to run on one of the lnb outputs and I had another plain reciever that was located in another room that ran off one. I was hoping that I could run them both of the same system but do have a surplus dish that I can hook the 5900 up to.
Thanks Again off to watch and record ;)

Glad to help.

If both lines come inside to a common point, you can always just add a 2 x 4 Switch, that will give you 4 outputs from that same LNBF, 2 for the 9241 and 2 more. They can be had for around $10 - 15.

I have four receivers off my one dish. A 6131, 5900 and 2 4100s. jgreaves, how many receivers are you running off that one dish?

joebloggs13; There is almost no limit to how many receievrs you can run from a single Dish, it is all about the correct switch's etc. I currently run 5 x Dual Tuner receivers and a Single Tuner receiver plus enough spare ports to connect another 20 Receivers, all from a 20" Dish.

Thanks Pinza, that's good to know. I was told that 4 was the max you could run off one dish. This coming from the CS people at Bell...go figure.:)

I got a HD PVR and a 4100 standard receiver. Both are connected to an LNB called DP Plus. The HD PVR is connected with a separator and I got 2 wires coming out of the DP Plus LNB. I bought a SW44 so that I can get a 3rd receiver hooked but for some reason when I scan it only finds 82 or 91 not both...Are there different SW44 switches?

What can be the problem?

These are images of the items I've spoken about:

You CANNOT use an SW44 with that LNBF.

You now need a DPP44 or DPP33 switch.

What about the DP44 not DPP44? It won't work?

Correct designation is DPP44. There is no such thing as a DP44.

Yes, you connect the 2 lines from the Dish to the inputs and then feed up to 4 Single or Dual Tuners from the Outputs.

The 9241 does not feed a second TV, so if you want to watch the same thing use component, composite etc.
