Hi,
Thanks.
Not sure what to do now as I wanted to call retentions originally but when I found out that I would only get the new model, I decided to buy the old one. Now with a new receiver, I don't want to activate it yet until I call retentions but what to say as I want to get HD as well and install the unit I have...hmmm....dilemas...

Hi Everyone,

I have Bell ExpressVu and I am having some problem with my satellite recently.

First of all, everything stopped working last week and I could you get any channel. Then I ran 'Check Switch' and I got the message 'Wrong Sat Unknown'. Before this problem happened, I did not even touch my dish and I don't think any body else could touch it because it was on my roof.

Then, I thought, since it complained about the wrong satellite, I tried to repoint the dish with a satellite finder. Now, I can get the 82 with 100%, but no luck with 91. I tried to connect LNB with receiver directly and the same problem happened.

Do 82 and 91 satelites at the same position? does this mean the 91 LNB is broken? or the dish is not pointing to 91?

Thanks in advance,
Steven

Most likely you now are pointed at 82 and not at 91. 82 and 91 are at different points in the sky. I would say you had a problem with either the receiver, the switch, or one LNB. Too bad you didn't test the line going to each LNB before moving the dish. What you need to do now is find 91 by itself, and then rotate the skew of the dish to get 82 by itself (using the correct LNB). Once you get a strong signal on 91, it should be fairly simple to get 82 by changing the skew of the dish. Right now I would swap LNB's to see if you still get 82--if you do then both LNB's are fine. This is assuming you have separate LNB's.

Hi Jumpy27,

Thanks for your reply!

I do have two LNB. As you said 'Once you get a strong signal on 91, it should be fairly simple to get 82 by changing the skew of the dish', can I do it in the reverse order? get the 82 then find 91 by changing the skew? If yes, I did try it and it was not working. That's why I am thinking the LNB is broken.

Are the LNB for both 82 and 91 the same? I like to try your idea about swaping the LNB. I thought they are different;)

thanks
Steven

Whatever might have been your original problem (probably a faulty switch), by trying to repoint your dish you've now got another. For the proper sequence to aim a dish to get both 91 and 82, see post 91 in this thread:

The LNB's are the same physical part, they just go into different positions in the Y-adapter. It makes no difference if you align on 91 or 82 first as long as you are connecting to the LNB in the slot that matches the satellite.

Further to Dosborne's reply, make sure that you set the skew BEFORE finding either 91 or 82.

I have tried searching this forum, maybe it's my search query, I can't find the exact answer I need...
I have an SW44 switch and the dishpro 500 with 2 dual LNBs, but currently only have one line feeding from that to only one tuner on my 9242... I have to do some major working to get that second line in. No biggie, for now, I have TV on the one tv anyhow. My question is, I get an error message after it is off overnight, that only one line is detected "if you are only using single tuner disregard" or something like that. Then I click okay, and it goes to test switch, I can't click DONE without doing the test or at least testing and cancelling at this time. Is this because I only have the one tuner hooked up and it is looking for that second line? Also, I cannot get any of my event timers to work, even if the receiver is off... It will do the autotune, but will not record programs that I have set to timer. Some of them show up in the timer list showing #2 and some #1, but none of them record. I just want to make sure that the second line is the problem, as I might not get it run before my "time" to return this box, if defective, is up.

Thanks

If you have only one tuner hooked up, you will get error messages. And you'll have a problem recording timed events.
I suggest hooking up the second tuner.

Thanks, am looking into getting that cable ready today, hopefully... then i will tackle the second TV another day...
Thanks, I just wanted to make sure that is why I am having problems...

The reason you might be having problems with recording is that the receiver is set to record from Tuner #2 by default, so if that tuner does not have signal this could be why.

Try going into the menu and change the default for recordings to tuner #1.

This is a good temporary solutoin, but also keep in mind that if you schedule more than one event at the same time that even with tuner 1 as the default, the second event will go on tuner 2.

The ideal solution is to run a second line as that is what was intended for proper operation. There are other (more expensive) solutions where you can replace the LNB and switch and use a separator, but that is covered in detail in other threads (as is the one tuner feed issue BTW http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=89947 ).

HI All, This would be my first post and im sure, certainly not the last. I just picked up a 9200 and plan on installing myself. I have my old dish which i used to run 2 3100's off of. It has the dual LNB with dual outputs on each. They are run to 2x sw21 switches. From what i gather (some quick reads) i can run a line from each sw21 to each tuner on the box correct? also, In my previous installs, i never grounded anything- off the dish- straight to box. What should i be looking to do as far as grounding is concerned? I am looking at this manual and seeing all sorts of grounding/ antenna options which i never applied before and was fine without.

If you are no longer using the 2x3100's, then, yes, you can use the output from the 2xSW21's to input into the 9200. Other options for more recievers or other options (SW44 for example) are covered in other threads.

I currently have a 9200 with TV1 in the LR, and TV2 in the Kitchen.

I was wondering if it would be possible to split the TV2 feed and have it display on both my Kitchen TV and a TV in my Bedroom.

Thanks for your answers.

No problem splitting TV2 and be sure to set up bedroom tv to same modulated channel as kitchen.

Thanks.

Is there a specific splitter I should use or can I go to Radio Shack and pick one up?

Since you are talking about the modulated output that goes to your tv(s), then any standard cable splitter (2-way, 3-way, etc) will do.

Just to be clear though (in case someone else is not reading this entire thread), this applies only to the output from a receiver. You cannot use a normal cable splitter for the input that comes from your dish and goes into your receiver.

Yes, thank you. This is strictly for the output from the receiver.

Hi guys

Did an install for a friend today...didnt go well.

Installed Dishnet 500 dish with DPP twin LNB with a seperator to 9242. Problem is I cant get 82 sat at all.....did a check switch many times. Its not finding anything to do with the 82 sat.

I can get 93% with sat 91 and the check switch reads "ok". I have tried another cable and also removed the seperator. Also re-set receiver....no go

The LNB did have a good size mark on it...so Iam guessing the 82 side of the LNB is broken...what do you guys think?
