I have very little sync issues with my 9200 - have you tried unplugging your 9200 and unplugging your sw44? I also have mine raised about an inch and a laptop cooler underneath. I have also done a nvram reset when the 146 firmware came out

installed my 9200 yesterday, had it working, but decided to fine tune the dish alignment since 82's signal strength was in the low 80's.
I have a 3100 also connected to my sw44 switch.
for some reason, during the fine tuning, i suddenly lost all signal and cannot re-establish.
I've installed several dishes, and have never had this problem. I've verified the skew, the elevation, the direction but every transponder on both of my receivers is dead.
Here I was envisioning myself watching Survivor and CSi in HD for the first time tonight... instead I was sitting in the snow on my roof.

Has anyone else had a sudden loss of signal and been unable to re-establish? Could my sw44 have decided to die at the very moment i was fine-tuning? Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Can someone outline the steps in performing a ram reset?

I want to verify something on runing a Dish Pro Plus LNB and a Dish pro plus Seperator. Right now I have the 9200 bev with a Sw44, I run 4 lines in and 2 out to the 9200 and 1 out to 3100. I would like to run the Plus LNB and seperator, so with the 1 line that comes from the dish to the seperator does it matter from which lnb it comes from, as the sw44 it has 2 from the 82 satilite and 2 from 91 satilite, I'm thinking that I would need 1 from 82 sat and 1 from 91 sat in order for 9200 to work.

Thanks

I assume you mean clearing NVRAM. This thread explains how:

redster,

the DPP lnb has the switch built in.

using RG-6 cable run one line to the 9200 and one to the 3100. At whatever distance is most convenient you hook the one line into the separator and then the 2 lines go into the 9200.

I'm trying (and have been trying all day) to replace a 6100 receiver with a 9200 reciever. I have read through most of this thread (very informative). My problem is this. I have followed the wiring exactly as shown at the beginning of this thread using the sw44 provided by Bell. I have run the extra R6 cable to the 9200 and when tested, it says there is a problem with the connection. When hooked up to the old sw21, I have almost 100 percent on both satellites (but of course, no second cable running into the 9200). I have all four cables from the lnb's in the correct inputs, two lines running from the sw44 to the 9200 (one going to the power insertor and then to the input, other cable to the second input of the 9200, and a third to the 6100) and neither satellite shows a connection when tested. Can I assume that I have a defective sw44 switch or could it be something else. Are defective sw44 switches common? I rehooked up the sw21's so that I could watch tv for now and everything is fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Just a thought. If you're sure all your LNB/wiring/switch setup is correct, try disconnecting the satellite cables from your 9200 and run and check switch. Then reconnect both of them with the SW44 in place, and run a check switch again.

I gave it a try but still can't get the 6100 or the 9200 to run off the sw44 switch.... currently back on the two sw21 switches with no problems (other than missing the second cable coming into the 9200).

I take it you have the power inserted connected to port 1 of the SW44 switch and it's plugged into the AC (:))? You could try cycling power to the SW44 just in case it's confused. You definitely need to do a check switch after changing switches, so the 9200 knows what switch you have. Make sure you do that after you have the 4 inputs from the LNB's connected. If all that fails then I don't know, must be a bad switch.

I would also try putting the power inserter in the line for the 6100. If it still doesn't work, return the SW44 and buy a legacy quad and save yourself a ton of headaches.

A question for the more technically inclined here. Signal strength on transponders on Sat 82 and 91, can I use my 9200 to get the true signal strength of a transponder? I have been told that one should not use the 9200 to test it, but if you have another receiver (which I do have) a 4100 and 3100 to test the strength of the signal. My strength of transponders on Sat 82 is 10 to 12 points lower on the 9200 vs the 4100? Which numbers are correct? Confused here......

I don't know, maybe they are both right. Unless you are getting frequent signal loss does it really matter.

barter, that is my point, I have been getting signal loss on some snowny Manitoba days, the loss is not all all channels. Some transponders have a great signal strength like 85 to 90, while others are 65 to 72. Those are the ones that cut out in bad weather.
A tsr said the average for Wpg is 85 to 90, I am not getting close to that on 91 or 82, 91 is worse.
So I` am have getting BEV to come out and check the installation, the 3 month installation warranty is up on March 11/07.
Just want some more information here, fore armed is forewarned.

So please anyone please give me you .02 cents here!! Thanks

Currently have two dishes - one for 91 and one for 82. Using an SW44 switch for one 9200 and one 5900. Considering changing the 5900 to a 9200. Can anyone suggest the best way to do this and what I need in the the way of hardware? Have a couple of SW21 switches - can they be used somehow? Thx.

run two wires from each dish into the sw44 and from there 2 wires to each 9200.

Just to clarify - have 2 from each dish already into the SW44. 2 cables out from switch to 9200 and one to the 5900. Just disconnect the 5900, add a cable and connect both to the second 9200?
