I know the separator only works with dual (5200, 9200) receivers. Did you have signal without the separator using the DDP twin?

thats the weird part... when I first hooked up my bedroom everything was great. I had brought both receivers and hooked them up in the bedroom and they were both working just fine. It's only when I hooked up the second cable for the living room that I completely lost signal, with or without the seperator.

how did you hook up both in the bedroom on one line?

well......I would start by checking to make sure you have all connections into the lnbs good. running check switch as well.

If still doesn't work, I would put back the dual lnbs or quad lnb or whatever you had before to make sure the line is ok.

Is the 6100 receiver DP compatible? Although the DPP twin can be used on legacy equipment you need to have a compliant DP receiver in the loop.

Start methodically eliminating things one by one.

Did you try having one receiver hooked in bedroom and one downstairs?

I had checked to see if my 3100 was working in the bedroom first, than I unhooked it and hooked up my 6100 in the bedroom as well. So seperately, or alone, they worked. I tried the check switch in my livingroom and nothing came up. Maybe the part you said about having one DP in the loop is the reason why... how would I know if the 6100 is DP compliant?

I think I might have no choice to get a tech to fix it, if I can find one willing to do it... the thing that bugs me the most is that I tested both receivers in my bedroom when I had finished connecting it and they both worked, then I went ahead and connected the living room to the dish and bam! no signal in both rooms.

I had left my 3100 in the bedroom unplugged all day and now the signal comes in but very few channels and not all of them have images???

what is your signal strength? You should have at least 70 or more.

For missing channels you may have to resend your programming. They now have that option online or call in to bell.

i unplugged it a second time and tried it again now the channels seem to be all their, from what I can see and the signal is at 89%... I guess i'll go back to the drawing board for the living room, maybe I connected it too quickly to the dish and didn't do it properly. Is it possible to fry a receiver? I had a wierd smell comming from the 6100 tonight.

I am buying this very soon, but this has to do with installations so:

I have heard HDMI cord comes in the box. What about component video or S-Video? (I need both to connect receiver to HDTV and DVD Player to HDTV).

Does it have the Optical output for audio. Purchased cord online: Toslink Optical cord.

wanting to connect that from receiver to Surround Sound System.

9200 comes with DVI to hdmi cable (with dvi to hdmi adaptor so you can go hdmi to hdmi if needed). Also included are a set of component cables and also some audio cables (RCA).

The 9200 also has an optical out for audio but no s-video out.

There has been a lot of discussion on the 9200 regarding installation; so much so that I've decided to put together this thread. Now, let me start off by saying that I haven't installed a 9200 myself; most of this info has come through my own research and reading online. If you find anything I've put in here to be in error, please let me know so I can make the appropriate corrections. As well, keep in mind these installation instructions are geared towards those of you familliar with the basics of installing satellite dishes.

First commonly asked question is if it can be hooked up using only one of the tuners. The answer to that is no. If you try to do so, you will run into problems. The bottom line is you have to use both inputs on the 9200 for it to function correctly.

Example #1- Installing a 9200 using only 1 cable.
To do this, you will need the following items. A Dish Pro Plus (DPP) Twin LNB, and a DPP Seperator. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a290/ken0042/DPP_Seperator.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a290/ken0042/DPP_Twin_LNB.jpg

You connect 1 RG6 cable to the DPP Twin LNB, run it into the house, and then use the DPP Seperator to seperate the signals into the 2 inputs of the 9200. Your connection will look like this:

Now, some people have asked if they can install 2-9200's in the same house? The answer is yes. Using one more seperator, you can use the extra connection on the DPP Twin LNB and connect them both.

Please note that the 2nd receiver in this example can be any other type of receiver; new or old (Legacy.) DPP will support either. Of course with a single tuner receiver you will not need the seperator on that one.


Does anyone know whether I can use the above suggested setup but instead of getting the twin LNB dish simply use the regular expressvu dish and the SW44.

The set up would be dish > SW44 > one wire to spliter > two wires to dual inputs on the 9200. Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks

the dpp separtor only works with DPP technology. You will need the DPP twin or the DPP44 switch.

Can someone explain HDMI/DVI thing.

My tv has 2 "HDMI inputs" I am getting it this Saturday at my house.

Will I need HDMI-HDMI input. Will the DVI adapter transformation device degrade anything?

the 9200 included the HDMI / DVI cable for those people with an older set without HDMI and only DVI.

they included the DVI / HDMI adaptor for those people with a HDMI connection.

There is no signal degregation using the bell cable.

Getting the 9200 and standard receiver this Thursday for install.

Hopefully the install will go good.

Also cut the cost $50 by saying get me the rental receiver but I will install it myself (plug in line, call, authorize done).

I just noticed that the little yellow/green/blue/red panels lights are not in straight line on the front of my unit. Are all like this or am I a victim of poor aesthetic quality.

We are getting our 9200 this coming Mondy. One thing I never thought of was the fact that it will be very difficult to run a line from the 9200 in the basement to the bedroom (up two floors). If I ask the installer to go directly from the dish to the bedroom and NOT from the 9200 do I lose any functionality of the 9200? Or is it in my best interest to try and snake the cable from the basement up two floors?

Well, the signal strength of the remote 2 floors up will be of question.

I am sure you can figure away to wire from the 9200 to your bedroom, but... the remote might not get good signal strenght 2 floors up.

Do you have TV on your first floor that you could switch it around, hook it up to the 9200 and put that receiver on your first floor in your bedroom.

The lights on the front should be lined up. I suspect your's is defective.

As far as the remote goes, that might be pushing it. Mine is 50ft away and through the ceiling to get to one tv and I have intermitant issues. I would suggest you try to run 2 new lines before the installer comes. Get creative. Is the basement ceiling unfinished or a drop ceiling by chance? I have yet to find a situation where running cable was impossible. Tricky and time consuming yes but never impossible. Don't forget about your cold air return vents. They are a great place to run cable.
