Also Pickle, the 60cm dish is completely circular is it not? I do not beleive that you can pick up both satellites from it. If you take a look at the BEV dish, is is slightly oval and allows you to skew (rotate) the dish to pick up both satellites. Also I do not think that you gan just add the "Y" adapter to the dish you currently have. The reason is the when you add the "Y" adapter you will lose the focal point so the LNB's will not pick up a signal properly. This is the same reason the 20" comes with the "Y" adapter to attach, the "Y" adapter and the length of the arm allow the LNB to get the signal from the focal point, without the adapter you would lose the focal point.

Go back to the first post in this thread... Example #1 describes how to hook up with only a single cable (with good diagrams). However, you do need to buy some DPP gear. If access is easy it will probably be much less expensive to run a second cable and then use the dish, LNB's etc that come with the 9200.

Hi

Since I currently have a 6000 receiver/dish for my hdtv setup with one wire running into the receiver, will the hardware supplied with the 9200 enable me to run two wires, without buying anything extra?
Thanks
Aron

Altaman,

You bring up a very good point about the focal points of the dish. Simply adding a Y adapter will move the LNB out, away from the dish. I'll check the arm I got with the 51cm dish to see if it will be the right length.

Perhaps I can swap the arm too, to get the right length.

As for the dish being slightly oval, What did early adopters of HD and dual sats use? I thought the slightly oval 51cm dish that comes with the 9200 package was not available way back then.

Didn't new dual sat users simply get upgraded to a larger dish?

Y'all:
I'm swapping a 5900 PVR (with 20" dish and single LNB) for the 9200. :p

Can I use the original 5900 arm plus the 9200 Y-adapter??
Or is the original arm longer than the 9200 arm??

The 20" dishes are all the same.

including the arm length?

including the arm length?

Yes.

I originally bought a 5920 and am using it fine now.

thanx Joe:
How long is your line btwn the SW44 and power inserter module??
Is this RG-6?
I'll be mounting the SW44 outside near the dish... so do I have to run a long third line inside just for the power inserter?? I don't have an AC outlet outside...

I am not using this method. I don't that it matters that much though. I have heard that it works without power.

Enzo, if you check the manual, it warns you not to put the SW44 outside as it is not designed for withstanding the outside weather. Also, remember that the voltage is only 24 volts and will degrade fast if your line is too long. The littlest amount of moisture and your system will quit working.

Aer you using the SW44 also? If so, do you have 91 hooked to inputs 1a and 82 hooked to input 2a? Also, have you tried a switch test?

Yes I have tried a switch test, and I am just hooking it straight up from the dish pro plus input 1 to the seperator then to both inputs.

Did you have 82 before putting the twin on?

Well I just aimed for 92 and thought that once you get 92 that you should get 82 as well with a 20" dish ??

No, once you have 91, you have to adjust the skew to get 82.

set you skew and then rotate the dish a bit to get the signal again.
