I just received a note from Rogers in the mail that they are launching Playboy on Demand starting on June 21st in the Toronto region. This is apparently a free service for those that already subscribe to Playboy.

PBoD will be located on channel 561
Adult Preview will move to 559

Did they state exactly who the service will work? Will you be able to pick any show/movie that they have already played and watch it free of charge (as a Playboy subscriber) or will they simply have a few select titles from the month for you to choose from?

I am not a Rogers subscriber (can't get it out West), but I am curious as to the whole On Demand deal.

Direct TV in the USA has it so you can buy it like a PPV. Something to the tune of $5 US for 24 hours. Not really worth it when you can get the whole month for $12 US but I guess there are some people that only need the service every so often.. don't want a full time sub, or maybe the idea is that they want people to sample the service and maybe later go full time sub.

This isnt the directv one - thats really just playboy using the option to buy it in short bursts (ie 24hrs). This will be similar to TMN on Demand - so you can pick and choose the porn of your choice along with the standard on demand options like fast forward,pause rewind etc. It says its free also for subscribers of playboy.

If Playboy tv On DeMand does launch on June 21. then that's good. and I once again would like to be stand by that when i annoce this a while back i stanbd corrected

Is Hustler planning a similiar VOD service?

I beleive they have VOD Content on ROD right now. But I really thiunk they might bring a Hustler/ TEN X SVOD service as well. We have to wait and see.

Sorry but I have to laugh. I won't discuss here but in the on demand they always have the genres that you can drill down into such as movies, tv shows etc.

So what do you have on Playboy: Fetishes; Lesbian; Group etc???

TMNOD has a lot of titles but not all that air that month. I assume they put up those they feel will be most popular.

Don't they already have enough pr0n on ROD and PPV? Over 50% of what is on there is pr0n already. I know they make lots of money on it but isn't there already tons to choose from?

well my point was that it's now June 22nd and there's no sign of it - my IPG still shows Adult Preview

I called and asked and they said June 28th for the GTA. Right now its available in Kitchener, London and Ottawa.

So Mole, I guess you could say the June 21st announcement for the Toronto region was premature!

Just got a letter from Rogers in the mail. They were talking about setting the parental controls, then announced Playboy On Demand, effective June 21 "for your area". Didn't happen.

Why do they need this channel? Is this not a waste of bandwidth when they already have ROD. Just my thoughts.
