: Movies so bad you couldn't finish
BIGGUN 2005-05-25, 11:01 AM #1 Crash(not the new one haven't seen it yet)......What the heck? People become aroused by car accidents and disfigurement?
#2 Being John Malkovich...yet another load for the heap.
ken0042 2005-05-25, 11:11 AM I went to go see Battlefield Earth- because with reviews as bad as they were- I just had to see it. I also bought the DVD.
Another movie everybody hated but I loved was Pluto Nash.
I don't walk out of many movies- in fact when I got ill during one of the LOTR movies, I wasn't even sure how the refund thing worked at a movie theatre. (I was ill because of food poisoning, not the movie.)
The one movie that sticks out for me is "The Money Pit." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091541/
I rented that one on VHS years ago and actually shut it off after about 30 minutes.

J.G. Ballard's novel, brought to the screen by David Cronenberg (Director) -- ouch, quite a combination!! You're right, not always an easy one to understand or even watch. I made it through one viewing though. Ballard also wrote (the Spielberg-directed movie) 'Empire of the Sun' -- quite a difference, eh!!
mightymike 2005-05-25, 10:28 PM King Aurtur. I didn't even make it past the first battle scene with the stupid swords! It already wasn't following history right.

Funny thing is, there's no history to follow.
Life Aquatic, the new Bill Murry Movie,
what a piece of Crap.
The only movie I've never watched to end because I thought it was really bad was "Get Carter".
Just for fun though, here's the IMDB's bottom 100 list (http://www.imdb.com/chart/bottom). Looks like quite a few of the previously mentioned titles made the list. Glad I haven't seen many of them!

I've only seen two of the movies on that list: "You Got Served", and "Cat in the Hat". 2/100 ain't bad I guess.
unclepercy 2005-05-26, 10:57 PM It's a bad one when you get up and leave your own den. And it's name was
"Closer." How could such good stars make such a putrid film? UGH.

For better or for worse, I have seen 18 on the list.
Life aquatic was pretty bad. Another recent one with Bill Murray, Lost in Translation, was painful to watch, especially during the karaoke scene.
I actually enjoyed cellular. it was a movie that could have been more, but for me it was still entertaining. go figure.
Other crappy movies - Congo (where do i start?), Oscar (imagine Sly in a slapstick type comedy), and The Professional (yeah, i know others liked it, but i thought it was awful. A movie, in my opinion, that could have been much, much more and only was watched until the end b/c I was hoping for more).
PAB
Cohen movies are the best. Just about all of them. What about Barton Fink? Oh Brother? Com'on - it's just the Iliad. Actually, there are a whole list of movies I love, but everyone else hates. Here are 3 of my favourite examples:
Memento
Magnolia
just about any movie that starts with M
Donnie Darko
Go ahead and criticize them - everyone else does.
que3jxp 2005-05-27, 04:48 PM I LOVED Memento!!! I thought it was a really smart movie.
Chris Auld 2005-05-27, 05:11 PM I find this thread absolutely surreal. If the text were deleted and only the film names appeared, I'd guess it was a thread about people's favorite movies. Here are some of my favorites mentioned in this thread, along with Tomatometer ratings:
Apocalypse Now 97%
Full Metal Jacket 97
Trainspotting 89
Eternal Sunshine 93
Toy Story 100
Rushmore 85
Nightmare Before 91
Now, I know tastes differ, to each their own, etc, but I really: Apocalypse Now on the same list of dishonor as Ishtar? Heresy!
heybirder 2005-07-19, 11:55 AM I found Life Aquatic to be hilarious. A lampoon of 70s Cousteau Society meets Spinal Tap and Wes Anderson's witty dialogue.
The only movie I can think of recently that I didn't finish (well I skipped to the end but didn't watch 50% of it) was Happiness Of The Katakuris. Just too far out there for me.
Damnit 2005-07-19, 02:37 PM My vote is for water world..............actually anything that Kevin Costner is in...except field of dreams
dogbolter 2005-07-19, 03:47 PM Dreamcatcher...must they make a movie about every random thought Stephen King has?
ilovemusic 2005-07-19, 04:18 PM "Life Aquatic" with Phil Murray
Loosehead 2005-07-19, 05:22 PM Spanglish - Adam Sandler
