Hey baker, I'm going to be purchasing this TV in about a couple of weeks I was just curious its going in my room, on my dresser and I was wonderin the width of the stand, if you could tell me that would be great or if anyone knows please any info would be awsome.

I'm wondering if anyone has encountered my problem with the Daytek DT3220. The wife complained that the remote suddenly wouldn't control the tv. Changed batteries - nothing. Dicked around with remote - nada. Bought universal remote from london drugs and tried using the various codes for Daewoo - nada. Let it do full code scan but still no result.

I bought the tv 25 months ago and no longer have the receipt,,,, stupid me but it's out of the one year warranty nonetheless. I haven't contacted Daytek yet.

Is there any chance this may be a cheap fix or should i just toss the tv and be extremely pissed off? Is Costco likely to give me a smallish rebate (say $350) towards a new tv?

Heck, there's a decent chance that Costco will give you the lowest price they ever sold that tv for (probably around $600) - most likely as a gift card.

Take the tv back, give it a try - the worst they can say is "no".

Wanted to know if mine was a common problem and fixable for a reasonable price. I tried contacting Daytek Richmond office service and regular line. No one there. Called Toronto service - no one there till thursday. Half-assed organization.

I returned the tv to Costco. Had cancelled cheque from purchase. They looked up the sale and gave me full refund. I'm totally impressed with Costco's response. Have to do research on what to replace it with.

I have a EPT 4202AN Bought at COSTCO on Oct.17/05 The TV was functioning perfectly when turned of last night. This morning when I turned it on, the screen was covered with moving vertical scan lines, that moved with the signal, but no image. The Scan lines are there in all modes, and no image is displayed. nothing works. You can see it trying to perform functions, but the results are buried in the scan lines and there is no sound. I turned it off and on with both the regular button, and the master button, unplugged it and plugged it back in figuring it might re-set.. nope.. Even my crappy old 52" rear projection RCA lasted 8 years before it died, I would have expected this to last at least as long... I sent this information to Daytek, and was told to call the tech support line where I was basically told warranty is up, tough luck.. The tech tried to convince me that rear projections are more reliable than plasma's, I told him that as far as 'their' plasmas are concerned it certainly looks that way.. He said it was probably the controller board or the screen.. Now I'm feeling sick.. 2000 bucks for two years service.. I figured why not, and called Costco (member for 15 years).. Told them my problem and the manager said "Bring it Back" I said "Are you Sure? I bought it two years ago"?
She said "Do you still have the bill"? I said Yup!!, She Said Bring it Back..
I was FLOORED .. Now THIS is customer service.. I will bring back the T.V. tonight, and upgrade to the 50" Panasonic. Daytek can kiss my butt I will never buy another piece of $#@% with their name on it.. Just figured I would add this info to this thread.. If your going to buy a Daytek beware!!! But if you do, buy it from Costco, at least 'they' will stand behind the product when the manuf. doesn't.. I was simply amazed..

I have two of them - Daytek from Costco 37 inches -- and they are awesome. One I have had for a couple of years, still great. Samsung made the screens on my model numbers so they are technically as good as samsung lcd ones.

Samsung might of made the panel but there's alot more to an LCD then just the panel, to say it's as good as a Samsung is a stretch to say the least!

Just a update on my 'Daytek" experience... I took the Daytek plasma back to Costco, and handed over the receipt, after telling them I doing as instructed over the phone by 'member services'. There was no hassle at all... She processed the return, and asked if I would like the refund in cash?? Nope, just give me a gift card ($2069.98) I'm going to be upgrading, and I sure ain't gonna buy one anyplace else after this!!! Seeing that plasmas have dropped in price considerably over the last two years, I was able to move up to a 50" Panasonic.. The floor fellow that was helping me, suggested that I also upgrade my membership card from business to Executive, because they will give me a 40.00 rebate on th e T.V. alone..(2% on everything I or my wife buys) the membership upgrade was 20.00.. A no brainer... So.. After this I would not even think of buying a large ticket item anyplace else.. If I had bought that T.V. at circuit city/futureshop/bestbuy or whatever. What would my chances be of getting a full refund after two years? A Big FaT Zero.. And Nope, I don't have any affiliation with Costco other than being a VERY satisfied Customer... As for the Panasonic the quality of the Deytek plasma screen looks like a bad 'greyed-out' .jpg compared to the Panasonic. If I remember right from the specs, I think the Daytek had a 3000/1 contrast where the panasonic has 10,000/1 and Black is BLACK not a washed out kind of black I had on the Daytek...

my DT4040 just died and I bought it in June 06. Its back to costco tomorrow. I must say I really liked this television....that said, it should not have died that fast...I spent less on a car and it still gets better gas mileage than anything new!! :D

I will not get another one. I think the return policy is great, but will go name brand.

Let us know if Costco accepts the return since they have changed their policy to 90 days.

got it done. Went to the South Store and they gave me the run around....told me to go to Daytek for the warranty...I said the warranty card says to bring it to an authorized dealer...that would be them....then I realized this lady was lazy and had no patience as the return line was long. Back to the truck and headed up to the North Store (by Peter Lougheed Hospital)....now, I did spend 40 minutes on the phone with their tech help guy (It must be a help line based in India cause I could hardly understand the guy)....he did the check list; ie, is it plugged in etc etc....for me the tv is dead.....like dead dead...not a connection issue as my menu did not come up at all - plus my remote died a year ago so that didn't help, but the guy did mention that it fell under the 2 year warranty still not the 1 year like the south store lady said ........ok, to the North Store we go....I explained the situation and all that, ie. it is dead not working ...... talked to the manager and got the in-store credit and picked up a 46 inch Sharp Aquos......I think its a manager discretion thing....mine was truly dead and I was not just a guy wanting a newer tv...I actually liked the thing, looks amazing with my OPPO upscaling DVD player....but the North store people were soooo much better than the south....funny how people can make such a huge difference....

I know they changed their return/exchange policies in the US.

Was not aware they did it here as well...I know there was a lot of speculation but never heard anything concrete about it.

I am getting a little upset after reading this thread and seeing how easy it was for some members to return their defective televisions to Costco even after two years.

We purchased the DT-3220 at the Costco in Laval for $1,199 on February 20th, 2006.

Last November, two vertical lines appeared in the middle of the screen. They were fairly faint in the beginning and only noticeable on certain coloured backgrounds. The lines got progressively worse and by January the two faint lines had increased to four solid lines, 1.5 inches wide(total) running top to bottom in the middle of the screen. This was no no longer tolerable.

Seeing as how it was not yet two years since we made the purchase I decided to call Costco's customer service to see what they could do to help us. The manufacturer's warranty was only one year, but having paid almost 1200$ for a television that lasted less than two years was unacceptable in my opinion. At the time of purchase I felt protected buying an off-brand tv from Costco...

The customer service lady asked if I had the stock number so that she could look up the item. Luckily, I still had the receipt so I gave her the number, hoping that they would be able to exchange the unit. Well, she looked it up and told me that since they no longer carried the unit there was nothing they could do. I tried to push saying that it was unacceptable for a $1200 electronic equipment to last less than two years. This was a very big investment for our family. $1200 was by far the most we have ever paid for electronics, and I was very unsatisfied. All she could say was "sorry, but there is nothing we can do..."

After hearing so many positive things about Costco's return policy I was dumbfounded. I looked up their return policy online and besides computers I could not find a time limit for returns on other products. The one thing I did see is that they guarantee that you are 100% satisfied, but I couldn't tell if that applied only to purchases made online from costco.ca.

Needless to say, I have reconsidered my position on buying electronics from Costco. From what I've discovered most of the electronics they offer are behind one generation in technology and the prices are comparable to other distributors that have the exact same models. The major benefit they had for me was the peace of mind thanks to their liberal Return policy.

I know that if we had purchased this item from any other retail shop we would be in the same boat, but that is why I have a membership with Costco. Now that the benefit of Costco's liberal return policy has been eliminated I can not justify buying another large ticket electronic from them.

Thanks for reading my rant.

PS Luckily, my wife realized that since we purchased with the Costco American Express card we had doubled the warranty and were entitled to a claim. Well, it has now been five weeks since I brought the tv to Amex's authorized service center and they are just now looking into "replacement cost". I don't know how much longer our family will be without a television. But that's another story.

Off topic, Amex has a authorized service center for TV's

Off Topic:
Ya, Amex's service center in Montreal consists of a guy in the basement of his duplex. I was a little skeptical when I dropped off the television, but the guy had all my info including the claim number from American Express. I had asked Amex at first if there were any other "authorized service centers" in Montreal. This place was a little out of my way and I figured with a population the size of Montreal's that they would have a couple of options. Little did I know at the time that they were sending me to a guy that mostly does in-home service calls and was not set up for drop-offs.

On-Topic:
While the television worked, I was happy with the picture, even though SD looked pretty bad on it. The scaler isn't up to par and the stretch modes aren't the best, but I overcame all that by letting Bell's 9200 HD PVR do the scaling and zooming. With this feed SD looked much better and I really liked the HD feeds. I loved watching CSI, during the opening credits where they pan through Las Vegas at night. Man did those lights shine!

Blacks could be better, but for the price at the time I think this was an excellent set.

Ironically, I discovered the service menu codes after I brought back the TV. I would have liked to see if I could dial down the backlight to improve the black level. Alas, I will never know.

I bought a Daytek 3220 and the first thing I saw when I turned it on was 2 line running across the screen. Very bad. So I had to return it to Daytek $110.00 shipping there and back.

Got my new TV and it did work great for about 18 months. Just after the warranty was up. I have had nothing but problems with it since. The TV will not stay on. I turn it on and it will turn itself off. After I do this a few times it will not even turn on. I have to leave it off for a few days and try again.

So I suggest that you do not buy a Daytek at all but and LG.

Mine just died today. It was bought in nov. 2005 for 1200$ Before it died it had the same problem as the above post. It would turn itself off and then on by itself. This would occur once in a while. I've watch the TV all night yesterday, even played some PS3 on it. Then today when I tried to turn it on, nothing would work. The standby light is gone. Like there's no power going to the TV. I've openned the TV to find nothing unusual. The power supply board look fine, no burnt smell on it nothing. Fuse is fine, must be a capacitor.

I bought a Daytek dwi 3270 and it died after a year. The power supply has failed and Daytek don't even return my emails. The power supply is made by FSP and I can get the same power supply but Daytek have different connectors and the Power Supply is revision c1, (which I can't source anywhere). So in a word, don't buy Daytek , especially if you live in the UK, unless you want a load of spare parts to sell.

Don't know what all you guys experienced but I got a 42" plasma with DCDi by Faroudja, and I have had it now for at least 5 years now, I don't max out the brightness on it, I take real good care of it only using water and a microfiber cloth, and it is still kickn and from what I can tell hasn't lost really any brightness at all and I have it set at like 50 max... runs a little hot due to only having 1 fan, but its still going never had to deal with MDG or Daytek which is made by Daywoo I might add, a very reputable company.

Oh and I have had it hooked up my computer since I had my evga 6600gt back in the day. now its still running fine with my radeon 5770, and it is used as both a computer monitor and a tv for the past 5 years and still runs perfect so I dunno, I love this tv, and am getting a lcd 1080p from them in like a week. Hope its as good as the one I have though...

My 42in Daytek Plasma screen monitor just died after 3 years.I am told there is no one n Winnipeg to fix it.
Sadly it is destined for the land fill or partial salvaging at a recycling depot.
The picture quality was very pixelated until digital TV came along.
In all a very poor product.
