rickahardson 2006-04-06, 04:23 PM Today Rogers installed (?) a pace 551.
He connected the stb to the tv said "experiment" and left.
Is there an instruction booklet or a file here as to how to set this thing up?
It has taken me all day to get the box to output 1080 and I'm still not sure I have it right although the hd now looks better on my Hitachi. I'm not sure how I got into that part of the set-up.
The booklet that came with if for the remote isn't much help.
Thanks and sorry if this is alread somewhere on this site.
Arthur
Download the operators manual from the following site:
http://www.pacemicro.com/americas/products/prodinfo.asp?PID=DCT551
(found earlier in this thread).
rickahardson 2006-04-07, 11:33 AM Thanks for the link to the manual, I'm obviously not good at searches but I did try.
Now a greater problem.
Last night I was able to record on my dvd recorder (Toshiba).
I have the svideo from box to the input on recorder and the audio imports the same set up.
This morning I was trying the set ups for the box and have done something bad.
The recorder will no longer record programmes. No audio and no video.
Is it possible I have deactivated the outputs from the box (Pace)?
I still have normal operations from the box to the tv.
Thanks again for your help.
Arthur
I'm not familiar with the functioning of the PACE STBs. I'm not sure I'll be able to help you. Perhaps someone in a similar situation can...
On the SA STBs, the s-video outlet is always active...
See also the Digital Home FAQ "Things to check first"...
Good Luck.
rickahardson 2006-04-08, 07:39 AM Thank you for your reply.
Strange is the world of computers and electrons.
I unplugged the recorder and Pace for a few hours then confirmed the original settings.
All is well.
I hope this is just a one time manifestation.

kies1 2006-06-09, 05:44 PM 1. The SA8300HD (DVR) also has HDMI connection.
2. The SA3250HD has DVI, but there are DVI/HDMI cables and adaptors available - see the Digital Home FAQ "DVI/HDMI Information". Hope you didn't pay too much for that HDMI cable.
3. There has certainly been an issue with audio when using HDMI but I believe you can get DD2.0, just not DD5.1. Others with more experience will be able to advise further, or you could search using keywords like HDMI + audio...
For dd5.1 you must switch if back to dolby digital for this to work.
Ryan Peddle 2006-06-18, 08:40 AM Hey Guys,
I just wanted to let you know that I had Rogers HD put in yesterday (June 17th) and the STB that was installed with the Explorer 3250HD. I guess lucked out as I have not had any major issues at all and the I receiving 1080i and 5.1 from the get go.
The only issue I am having is getting rogers to give me back some channels that I had substitued in my Ultimate TV pack. (BET and BBC Canada out, Fight Network and Animal Planet in).
the Pace has been out for an year, I called Rogers and they say they can't guarentee me a Pace???
and I just went out to buy a HDMI cable for my new plasma tv....
does anyone know which rogers store in toronto sell the Pace?
I'm not sure if any sell the Pace or if they are just rented.
The SA3250HD is currently on sale at Future shop - see the Digital Deals section. For $250 you get the HD STB and a "Free" SD STB (SA1840).
You can buy an adaptor for your cable (not recommended), or you can by a DVI/HDMI cable for $10-20 and take back your cable. See the Digital Home FAQ "DVI/HDMI Information" (under help).
Or you can get the SA8300HD DVR. People love their DVRs.
the PVR is really out of our budget :(
someone on this thread has said the bayview/major mac store gave them a Pace
do you have any idea when the 3250HD will be replaced by a newer model that has HDMI?
No, there are no plans for anything at this time.
grizzlymv 2006-07-31, 11:05 AM so, anyone found out how to activate the IR transmit feature on the Pace 551? I want to use my IR Blaster to control the channels from my HTPC, but as some others mentionned, this feature seem to be disabled...
Since it's all software, there must be a way to activate it. I'm with Videotron, not Rogers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
r1lee 2006-07-31, 11:29 AM Hi, does anyone know where I can get this unit. I don't mind paying for it, if it's available anywhere.
I've contacted a bunch of Rogers stores to see if they have any units but they don't.
I live in the Toronto/GTA area.
Has this unit been discontinued by rogers at all?
Sporadik 2006-10-15, 06:45 PM My 10 free months is up and want to buy a reciever but I h8 these SA models with a passion, the guide is so hidious it looks like its from a C64 my old BEV3100 recievers had a way better looking guide and that was years ago. What does the menu and guide on the pace look like I can't see any on the website and can it display 720P channels natively without scaling? my free for 10months 3100HD p.o.s. can't which makes everything on fox look like crap I really can't stand the SA models. I'd buy a 3250 but like I said the guide is so ugly on them if I could grab a pace with HDMI , 720P I would. I didn't buy an HDTV to have some 1992 looking guide, I'm located in the Kitchener Waterloo area and have heard nothing of these until I checked out this forum:cool:
Since the Pace uses SA firmware, I would guess that the guide looks similar. I don't know why/how you put up with the SA3100HD for 10 months.
The SA3250HD has a passthrough mode. See the Digital Home FAQ (under help) "tips for SA STBs". You could also consider the SA8300HD DVR. People love their DVRs.
take-heed 2006-10-17, 04:25 PM Yes, the Pace guide looks just like the SA one.
Sporadik 2006-10-17, 07:23 PM I don't know how I put up with it either, I almost did take it back but monster cables made twice the difference, A DVR wouldn't be back but I wish they wearn't as expansive as they are, I think renting is a ripoff, what does the guide and all that look like on the dvrhd model, I know I sound like a whiney brat but little things like that are important to me, but it could be worse I could be using the old starchoice receivers:p
The guide looks the same, but has an image in the top right, unlike your 3100HD. It works a lot faster on the SA8300HD.
Mon$ter cables?
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=30452
Sporadik 2006-10-17, 10:11 PM yep the 40$ monster cables made a huge difference in colour and contrast, less noise picture noise also, I have no regrets i think they were actualy on sale for 30$ @ the source i have no regrets at all, I noticed the difference instantly, although those 200$ ones make no sense same with the 200$ HDMI that is a joke
Suthrn 2006-11-01, 09:23 PM Hello, new to the site and have a question. Back on page 5 of this thread there was mention of pass-through/Auto-HDMI. Maybe it's me but I never saw a final answer on this. I have this box and would like my tv to do all the scaling if I can set it up like that. Does anyone know if this box is capable? I am using the HDMI now so does that mean Auto-HDMI(pass-through)? Thanks for any feedback.
