I have selected all the formats you suggested and still get the line. I also tried both the HDMI and COmp cables to no avail. The line continues while broadcasting in 480p standard and 780p and 1080i. I emailed samsung who said it was a rogers issue beacause it doesent happen on dvd. It doesent happen as much on HD( line is smaller and ALOT less noticable). On HD line usually go through reds. Last week I had a rogers guy out and the line was gone while he was here. He replaced the box and told me my signal was fine. 2 hrs after he left the line came back and the problem still presists. any more ideas?
Thanks for all the help

Do a cold reboot - unplug the box for a few seconds, plug it back in.

If you have the formats enabled, have the unit set to "passthrough" or equivalent and have done a reboot and you still have the line, I'd suggest getting the SA3250HD STB, or the SA8300HD PVR instead of the Pace, which has had no end of issues.

I will try that thanks. So it sounds like a rogers issue not a TV problem?

It's STB issue (usually Pace), not the TV.

Take the cable back if you can. You can purchase HDMI cables for about $20 from a computer store or even less on-line.

Does anyone have a Denon AVR-588 connected to Pace 551DH via HDMI?
I get a message saying HTCP is not supported.
Edit - Never mind.. I guess I'll take your 57's advice and connect it via component..

Another question:
I just bought a SA3250HD, it only has a DVI, did I make a mistake in buying this box?
And should I connect the 3250HD via component or DVI-HDMI if I keep it? Do DVI outputs on 3250HD have the same 'issues' as Pace 551's HDMI?

The SA3250HD is a fine box and will work well with component video. It also usually works with DVI, however, as with an HDMI connection, it can get "flaky", so I'd recommend sticking with component video, unless you've run out of inputs on your TV.

Component it is then. I just like the HDMI/DVI's single cable compared to the bulky component video's 3 cables. I'll save a few loonies by not getting an adaptor for DVI then.

However, I'm going to have to exchange this SA3250 to a new one because it looks like it's been opened already. The plastic bag for the component cable was cut open when I opened the box.

does anyone know how to make this HD box output using RGB?

i was reading somewhere that one of my TV settings is greyed out because the HD box is not outputting in RGB.

On some TVs the user settings can be greyed out depending on the connection. For example sometimes Hue/Tint is greyed out when using component video connections. On others, the colour and tint can be greyed out when using HDMI.

Which connection are you using? I don't believe you can change the output of the STB and this is TV (make/model) specific.

If you are using HDMI, switch to component video (which some people call RGB due to the colours of the cables).

it was HDMI black level that was greyed out. after posting, i searched the forums some more and found another post with the same question, to which you responded that it's prolly not possible to force the Pace 551 to output using RGB. Not sure how you were able to figure that out but I will have to agree for now as I was not able to find a way to change the setting on the HD box.

Quick question.

What use is the digital audio IN on this box?

I had originally connected my STB to my receiver via optical, but moved the optical cable to my 360 as I really wanted my games in 5.1. I only have 1 digital in on my receiver, so was trying to figure out a way to get 5.1 on via my STB as well.

Can I do this via plugging the 360 into the digital in on the STB then taking the digital out from the STB and plugging it into the receiver?

The "loop through" feature is discussed in the operating manual for the STB and what you want should work. I know it works for component video.

Thanks 57. That's what I needed to understand. I guess those manuals are helpful... ;)

when i press the power button on the remote to turn off the PACE box, the remote control sends a power off signal to the TV as well, turning off both the PACE and my TV. Is there a way to disable this "feature" so that when I hit power off, it only turns off the PACE and not my TV?

I assume you're talking about the remote that came with the Pace. See the operating manual for this remote (small white one) and go to the "master power" or "global power" or whatever it's called and have it turn off only the STB instead of both/several items.

Also, there is no significant power consumption difference between the STB in "on" and "off" (standby) mode, so just leave the STB on if you have difficulty programming.

I assume that when you press the power button now, the TV and the CBL light at the top of the remote now both come on. Only the CBL light should come on if you want only the STB to go off, but as I stated earlier, simply leave it on. There is no major difference turning it "off" - the internal circuitry is always on.

The manual for the remote control says to hold SELECT and CBL until the light blinks twice. This doesn't happen even after holding the buttons down for an extended period of time!

I want to disable this "feature" because sometimes when I'm tweaking the cable box, I need to press the power button and I would much rather the TV didn't turn on and off. A few TVs broke in my childhood days due to repeated on/off hooliganism.

Never mind... I read the wrong manual. LOL i pulled out the manual for the remote of my SD digital box. LOL
