I've read HD-DVD XBOX360's will have HDMI cables. in which case if you have DVI you'll have to buy an adapter. also COD DEMO is out play it NOW!! it's awsome better then the first ,I'm a fan as well read a review by a guy that played the DEMO and the 360 unfinshed version (IGN reviewed I think) said the graphics and game play was better on the 360 but the look was to glosy for his likes looked cartoonish he said the same for DOA4,also said NFS most wanted was the most photorealistic game he'd ever seen.this is one reviewers thoughts.if I can find it I'll post it.
Heineken77 2005-10-19, 01:40 AM battlefield looks sweet!!
Any news on hockey games coming for 360? I can't seem to find any previews on IGN.
Heineken77 2005-10-19, 01:41 AM BTW...I heard the nba2k series was bought out. So does this mean the gameplay of that great franchise will be gone for good? :( Never really liked any other nba games nearly as much as those!

MS has said that HDMI will NOT be apart of the Xbox 360 experience. I haven't seen any MS rep say it wuld. The only thing I've read when asked of HDMI was "the reality is to play games in HD you do not need HDMI..." He went on to say that as the console ages if there's a need to have HDMI then they'd look into it.

re: HD-DVD - I have no problem buying a cable - I just hope that someone comes out with a dvi to component adapter since my TV does not have DVI input!!!
re: COD2 demo -- I played it and it is pretty good. That is why I was wondering if I should wait for it on the 360
MikeyP 2005-10-19, 08:37 AM I believe Burrito is correct on this point...
Bluecruzer 2005-10-19, 10:10 AM Not to sidetrack this but the request for HD DVD support on an XBox via DVI or Component is a little off the wall.
Right now the skinny is that HD DVD players (not XBox but the actual players) may be set up on HDMI only.
It's no wonder that there's no DVI or HDMI on the 360. The hardware developers simply stated (and I believe rightly so until standards are agreed to) that Component Input is all that's required for gaming.
And really... compared to our composite video days... they're right.
at the intel conferance a few weeks ago planetxbox360 posted an interview with a MS rep and he stated HDMI will be out when the xbox360 goes HD-DVD
James 2005-10-19, 07:15 PM ...

I thought the standards were agreed on and that HD-DVD would only provide true high defination via DVI and downgrade component to 480p - am I wrong ?
both blue-ray and HD-DVD will only work on HDCP compliente TV's using HDMI and HDCP DVI equip TV's will need an adapter if your DVI equip TV is not HDCP your screwed.

yes major bummer but I will be shocked if someone does not come up with a work around for this.
James 2005-10-20, 08:28 AM you can now pick up a "wired" xbox 360 controller at retailers... for PC gamers this is a nice side benefit ...

FS - still indicates Nov 22 release day for the wired controller though

Bill Gates seems to have hinted that the reason the Xbox 360 does not contain a HD-DVD or Blu=Ray drive is because Microsoft believes that the digital delivery of games (to hard disks) could become commonplace in the near future.
In a speech given last Friday at Howard University in Washington D.C., Bill Gates stated that neither HD-DVD nor Blu-ray will matter in the long run and that both formats will be replaced eventually by plain old hard disks. This hints at one reason why Microsoft excluded “next-generation” disc media from the Xbox platform. It would be incredibly costly (and short-sighted) to stick a next-gen optical disc format in the Xbox 360 when their technical gurus believe that there’s a chance that digital delivery of games could become commonplace in the Xbox 360-PS3-Revolution generation of consoles.
Gates said, “The format that’s under discussion right now, HD versus Blu-ray, that’s simply the last physical format we’ll ever have. Even videos in the future will either be on a disk in your pocket or over the Internet and therefore far more convenient for you.”
There are, of course, major challenges to overcome before digital distribution of games becomes commonplace. For one, super-duper high speed bandwidth needs to become far more commonplace. Only half of those online in America have broadband. For another, companies need to be sure that their digital products will not be replicated without their consent. Both problems are solvable. Whether they’ll be solved this generation or next is the big question.
