Gee catchy isn't it. (NOT)

According to CFRA, the new name is "The Source"

In reality, is Radio Shack/The Source even relevant anymore? Anything I need there I can get cheaper at BB or FS.

The full name includes by Circuit City and is on the new logo but I'm sure it will be shortened in advertising.

see logo here (http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=332&Itemid=51) (those radio waves really make it authentic!)

For legal and trademark reasons, I'm sure they couldn't use just the source.

With a cool logo like that and Monster-brand iPod cleaner, how could anyone not want to shop there?! :D

thanks for reminding me eljay, I need more of that stuff. It doesn't drip you know and it comes with a microfiber cloth.

It really doesn't surprise me. Remember when Realistic, Radio Shack (own brand), Tandy computers were the main names that was sold at RS? Plus there's a few other brand names I can't recall. When InterTan disappeared, RadioShack started to sell other electronics by Orbyx Electronics (http://www.orbyxelectronics.com/) as well as name brands such as RCA and Panasonic to name a few. They even changed their company logo.

All these major companies Canadian and all, are being gobbled up by superstores in the USA. What happened to a "Made In Canada" solution? I guess our government doesn't care.

Edit: btw go to RadioShack (http://radioshack.ca) site now. There's a big blurb about the change.

I don't like it either but its competition and they have a scale much greater than 10 times ours so its hard to compete.

That was wonderfully executed. Their new website www.TheSourceCC.com is not up yet and the old one does not work either.

The introduction of THE SOURCE BY CIRCUIT CITY will be supported by a major advertising campaign featuring television and radio commercials as well as print and outdoor advertising.

God knows you wouldn't want to advertise on the internet!

The Internet - isn't that the thing Al Gore invented? :p

They have connectors, cables, and lots of other do-it-yourself merchandise and other exotic stuff you won't find anywhere else.

The exotic and do-it-yourself stuff is the part of the stores that The Source will most likely not be allowed to sell (actual "RadioShack" products will have to be removed from the stores).

Most of the A/V cables and switchboxes I use came from Radio Shack, err, The Souce by Circuit City (say that 20 times fast).

I can kind of relate to that.

I've worked for 4 different companies, and never had to move desks.

Since we won't be able to buy Radio Shack branded products in Canada after June 30th, I decided to ask Radio Shack in the US if Canadians will be able to order Radio Shack branded parts/items after Radio Shack Canada vaporizes.

I'll let you know the response when I get it.

Those "Radio Shack" products never came from Radio Shack US to begin with, it was all stuff produced for Intertan with the licensed RS logo on it. If you walk into a RadioShack today, you'll notice they have already started phasing in the "Nexxtech" brand for the exact same products in many cases (including and especially all the transistors and other small parts), even the same package design--down to the part number. I suspect most of that will remain, though I wouldn't be surprised if June brings a "x% off anything that says RadioShack on it" sale since they won't be able to sell anything in RadioShack packaging as of the end of June. They've already started doing that at a local store with the RS batteries (which are still overpriced even with the discount).

Looks like they have it working now.

I went to the old RS store today and found out something really interesting. Circuit City bought InterTan 2 years ago, we're just finding it out now. Oh and BTW, look for the return of Tandy stuff. That's right.

The answer is no.

They do not allow international customers and do not have international shipping.
