oblender 2005-09-21, 05:34 PM Anyone know when Rogers is planning on adding WNLO buffalo? It was approved by the CRTC but still nothing.
lprice99 2005-09-22, 03:59 AM The Fight Network on channel 427 and HDTOR on channel 510 have been added to the IPG. Both channels aren't broadcasting yet. I think HDTOR is Sun TV formerly known as Toronto 1.
Cable Guy 2005-09-22, 09:53 AM Anyone know when Rogers is planning on adding WNLO buffalo? It was approved by the CRTC but still nothing.
It's delayed due to technical issues.
Should be on channel 178 once it's ready.
SMCKINNON24 2005-09-22, 01:43 PM The Fight Network on Channel 427 is in a black screen on my box, Some areas are receiving 427. AS for 510 HD TOR 1 it's also been added to the lineup. It stange I wrote Rogers and asked when these channels are launching and they come back and say we don't have any information on this channel.
But certain departments knows channels are coming
Live and complete in-depth coverage of the world's most exciting soccer games broadcast 24-hours a day makes GolTV a must for soccer fans across Canada. Available in October of 2005, GolTV will have no peer in the world of Canadian soccer television.
For more information on
lprice99 2005-09-22, 08:41 PM HDTOR which was briefly located on channel 510 has been moved to channel 512 and renamed HDSUN. This channel is Sun TV.

There's a thread about this on the HD forum:

SMCKINNON24 2005-09-23, 03:23 AM Rogers Cable has informed me that the following areas will be once again be getting a rebuild in their area with the some major addional channels planning to launch will require higher bandwidth.
Scarborough/Richmond Hill/ Pickering/ Markham is currently 750mhz they will be upgraded to 860mhz or Higher ( 1000mhz ) in some areas this will takre place soon and will go into next spring.
The last tiem we had a rebuild was like a year ago, I suprised they are once again coming back to our area to to replace the boxes again waste more money when they could did it in the first place.
So with that in mInd I presume that their going to expand the lineup even more.
SMCKINNON24 2005-09-23, 03:43 AM Rogers Cable once again expanded their Sports Channels From 431-469 They are planning to group all the sports in specfic sports spots.
OHL Hockey 464-469
NFL Sunday Ticket 431-444
Nascar In Car 445-452
MLB Extra Innigs 453-463
NHL Centre Ice
NCAA Football 431-444
bigoranget 2005-09-23, 08:25 AM I would assume that some areas in scarborough are already 860 Mhz. Also at this points in time, there is no point in going past 860 Mhz because non of the current digital receivers on the market can tune anything beyond 860 Mhz.
lellis 2005-09-23, 01:00 PM GOL TV is scheduled to launch on October 28 on chanel 428.
All will likely be free for the first year.
I do hope you're right.
This is the meail I got from Rogers, answering my question about GolTV

SMCKINNON24 2005-09-30, 03:01 PM ATN Zee Cinema, ATN Zee Gujarati, ATN Aastha & ATN Bangla and will be launched o*n October 13, 2005 and will be o*n air 24 hours a day - 7 days a week on Rogers Digital Cable.
Following the launch of the above four channels o*n Rogers Digital Cable, ATN will soon add the most awaited New Delhi Television (NDTV) which is India's No. 1 English news channel.
maserszmidt 2005-09-30, 03:38 PM Any news if there will be more polish channels on Rogers that are currently available in the States , like Polsat2 , Kino Polska ?
dcomp11 2005-09-30, 04:47 PM Scarborough/Richmond Hill/ Pickering/ Markham is currently 750mhz they will be upgraded to 860mhz or Higher ( 1000mhz ) in some areas this will takre place soon and will go into next spring.
Uhh..Richmond Hill, Markham and Thornhill have been at 860 Mhz for over a year now.
bigoranget 2005-09-30, 05:14 PM Also 1000 Mhz is useless because pretty much all STBs that are manufactured can only tune up to 860 Mhz. Plus what your saying makes no sense at all. Why would Rogers spend so much money to upgrade to 860 Mhz, then do another upgrade to 1000 Mhz???
Also, I can verify that dcomp11 is right. All Rogers areas in the GTA are already at 860 Mhz.
magnet 2005-09-30, 05:21 PM Also 1000 Mhz is useless
Is it useless if they can use the 860 - 1 GHz bandwidth for digital phone/ internet/ future technology?

Steve posted this in another virtually identical now closed thread. And I pointed out Rogers had them for years. However someone else doubted this.
However, I'd like to point everyone to channels 683 and 686. If my memory serves me correctly, Rogers has been carrying these for over 5 years!!

PlayitSimple 2005-09-30, 07:54 PM Who is this guy? It seems he really is just spouting crap, whatever he can think up. In the now locked thread, he puts up a list of channels without knowing IF they are actually going to be on Rogers. Now he is going on about some technical issue that, as others have pointed out, is WRONG. So what's the deal here?
He put up channels that are questionable as to whether Rogers will add them and failed to list the ones that Rogers IS adding- the 4 ATN channels. They are listed in this thread, but too little too late man. I could give you some more channels that have a better shot of getting added by Rogers than the ones you listed:
RTP International
PTV Prime
Phoenix North America
NTD TV
Channel One Russia
HD NET
If they are approved, these channels should show up on Rogers.
maserszmidt,
Unfortunately there are no other Polish channels currently available to be added. Ethnic channels group has a license for a Polish channel but so far I have heard nothing from them about this or any other channel they plan to launch. Your best bet is to call Rogers and let them know you are interested in these channels, the more people that do this the better, and also contact the CCTA to get them to sponsor these channels so they can be added to the approved list. Its better to get the channel direct as a foreign service than through a CDN channel.
There is a large Polish population in Canada, I am surprised that no one has applied to get some Polish channels approved. I don't know which channels are good but Dishnet carries ITVN, Polsat (general entertainment channels) and kino polska (movie channel). I am hoping someone will sponsor Mega Cosmos (Greek channel) but no luck so far.
Here is the email for the CCTA: ccta@ccta.com
