PokerChip 2007-02-05, 03:57 PM Well, if you click on the link in my signature, you'll see how my setup looks. I have only listed the main components, I don't have the patience to get into wiring and the exact brands of powerbars and things of that nature.
Cheers,

rebeljeeper1 2007-02-05, 10:22 PM This has been a "work in progress". Really the only thing i'm looking to upgrade now is the center channel. I may replace the fronts with a set of Polk rti 8's and the center with a Polk csi 5. I kinda have a loyalty to Polk. I use to be into car stereos back in the day and had them as a co-sponser.

visiter555 2007-02-08, 12:16 PM Hi there, Visiter555
you have a lot of satelite boxes.
How many dishes do you have hooked up ?
I'm assuming you need more than 1 dish to accomplish this.
And, is Bell Xpress Vu charging you for *2* subscriptions each month because you have more 2 dishes ?
I have three dishes up 1 x Bell with a DishPro twin LNB (82 & 91), 1 x Dish with a DishPro twin LNB (110 & 119) and 1 x 36" with a DishPro dual LNB (129 for Dish HD).
All run two RG6 to DishPro 34 switches (daisy chained for 8 IRD outs from each dish).
ExpressVu charges me one sub (six IRDs 1 x 3100, 3 x 4100 & 2 x 6100). All are attached to phone lines.
Dish charges me for one sub (2 x 311 & 3 x ViP211). All are attached to phone lines.
DrPainMD 2007-02-13, 10:38 PM I have a dedicated room that is 16x12x8 in the basement for my HT.

detroittigers 2007-02-14, 10:19 AM pcouture , that is an amazing stand. Just beautiful.
What make and where did u get it from. I currently have a sanus lowboy and it's getting long in the tooth.
PokerChip 2007-02-14, 12:02 PM Thanks!
I've had this for more than 2 and a half years. Back then, it was very hard to find something that looked like this because there were so few flat screen panels being sold. Most entertainement centres were still bulky and deep.
My wife and I chose it at IKEA. It's actually a dining room sideboard! I won't even tell you how mych I paid for it because it's ridiculous.
It looks a lot better in person and everybody who comes to our house comments on it.
DrPainMD 2007-02-14, 12:23 PM Thanks!

Did you need a allen key to assemble it....LOL
Stoakley Audio 2007-02-28, 09:33 PM Howdy all!
Just joined after lurking for a long time, but since it's all about being Canadian, how could I not join :)
Here are the specs for my custom home theatre that I spent a year building:
The Stoakley Home Theatre
18' x 10' room - in basement, controlled lighting environment
Two tiered stadium seating - seats 6 comfortably on two leafter sofas
Denon AVR-3300 receiver
Denon LA-3500 laser disc player (love the old school!)
Denon DVD-1600 DVD player
Panamax 500 surge supressor
Sony KP-57WV600 57" 16:9 HDTV RPTV - I still love this TV!
Energy Pro 2.5's L / R
Energy AC-200 centre
Energy RVSS surround speakers
Energy ES-8 8" 100 powered subwoofer - awesome bass for such a small box
Sony Playstation 2 - just 'cause, although I can use my computer down there too
Home Theatre Master RX-800 remote (both IR and RF)
Most of my cables were custom built by an audio engineer I used to work with ( I'm a TV sound guy).
What I did:
- subfloor is DriCore
- riser is standard wall configuration. Filled with two layers of Roxul's Safe 'N Sound. Two layers of 3/4" construction grade ply, glued and screwed to studs.
- knocked a hole in one wall and built a custom rack to house all my gear and media.
- added two lights attached to Lutron IR dimmer
- carpet is 65oz. plush with 10mm underpad
I did all the work myself except for adding three new circuts to my electrical panel - I brought a pro in for that one!
Anyway, I've added the link at the bottom for those who would like to see what it looks like. It's in another forum which I've been a member there for a long time so I hope that doesn't upset anyone.
Looking forward to adding my 2 cents to this forum as well.
Cheers,
Andrew

Nice Stoakley.
I hope to finish my basement this spring and hopefully a decent home theatre. Do you mind giving us an idea as to how much you spent excluding the equipment?

Hi Sam,
Thanks for the compliment... it was a great project to work on and family and friends really enjoy hanging out down there, especially during the lovely Canadian winters :)
As for price, it was relatively cheap, mostly because I did all the work myself. As I said in my origianl post I brought in a professional for the electrical work which was insisted upon by my insurance broker.
I'll break it down for you into the different categories as much as I can remember:
Sub-floor - $ 400
Carpet - $1500 w/ installation
2 couches - $3000 (got them at The Chesterfield Shop with no GST)
2 lights - $ 100
Lutron dimmer - $ 50
Riser - $ 300 (includes the wood, Roxul, screws and glue)
Trim & stain - $ 200
Custom rack - $120
I think that's about it. If you have anymore questions about specifics, please give me a shout.
Cheers,
Andrew
donimo 2007-03-16, 04:34 PM Hey guys, been lurking for a bit, thought I'd come out of the cave for a post or 2 ;)
I have been peicing this together since it was a 19" tube and an early 80's quadrophonic amp...
As it is right now:
dedicated media/VG room, 9x13 and layout forces me to have the tv on the long wall, so not ideal.
-Panasonic TH42px600u (love it)
-JVC 7042s 6.1 120w x5 (never see anyone else with this amp, but I like it)
-Athena F2.2 mains
-Athena C.5 center (needs to be upgraded)
-Athena s.5 surrounds (want r.1's but cant find them for cheap)
-Athena R-1 surround back (anyone selling 2?)
-Athena ps-300 8" sub (was great with the point 5 system, since upgrading to f2's it gets lost sometimes, soon to be a mirage omni s10)
I like the setup, cant seem to get it tuned right yet (need an spl meter), center seems too quiet during movies, but if I turn it up (to +4-6!!) to sound right on DVD's, when I play ps2 games it is waaaay too loud, weird.
And it seems like there is too much of a sound "hole" between my fronts and the surrounds when doing the pink noise "ball" that circles around your head. But the speakers are where they have to be so...
