: Battlestar Galactica
walker18 2005-04-11, 10:44 AM I just watched episode 12 on Space last night and all I can say is, "Wow!"
I noticed that there are no more episodes listed on the Space channel website. Does that mean that this is it for the season? I understand that this is a short season, but does Space have any plans to start airing season 2?
JohnnyG 2005-04-11, 10:45 AM Was indeed the season finale. I have no idea when season 2 might be starting, but I'm sure someone here does.
Chris Auld 2005-04-11, 11:07 AM Second season airs this Summer apparently. It sure would be nice to get it in HD. I, on Shaw, will be holding my breath.
Surprisingly good show given the cheezy source material. I'd peg it as the best sci-fi series since Star Trek: TNG.

Couldn't agree more. The Star Trek franchise could take a few notes.
This seasons last episode definitely had the wow factor and was pretty intense. From the fight Starbuck had with the Cylon (she's hot ;) ), to the coup with the President and then Adama getting shot at the end, awesome! Can't wait for Season 2.
I saw the first movie /episode. The really long one. I thought it was pretty good but missed the episodes after. Any idea if they will be re airing anywhere from the beginning to end?
walker18 2005-04-11, 02:35 PM This summer! Oh, I don't think I can wait. I'm just glad that we're not going to have to wait a whole year, considering season two is already airing south of the border, is it not?
I'm not sure if they are reairing this, but I read on another thread that this should be released on DVD soon.
SciFi.com: "Galactica will resume production in Vancouver, B.C., in March and will again anchor the channel's SCI FI Friday block of prime-time original series."

So that means Space gets to air it only after SciFi does? Maybe a fall schedule?

Did you not notice who the Executive Producer and frequent episode writer is?
Ronald D. Moore of Star Trek fame no less. He single handedly (sp?) resurrected this series. He faced so much opposition that many questioned whether the series would ever happen until they saw the Pilot "mini-series".
Even Richard Hatch (the original Appolo) headed up a group to prevent this show from going ahead. In an ironic twist, he then buried the hatchet with the people behind the new show and agreed to guest star on a couple of episodes as another character.
Then they were only asked to make 12 epsiodes because there was still uncertainty if it would catch on.

FRIDAY?! Don't these people want it to be sucessful?!! Did they learn nothing from Enterprise?
Siouxie 2005-04-12, 10:00 AM dc,
from the link you gave, it seems Adama will survive it's wounds.
Unless he leads the fleet as a sort of Ben Kenobi ghost.

It wouldn't suprise me if that's what happens. But a "leader" is supposed to die, so it's either Adama or Roslyn.

Ah, but recall the careful wording of the prophecy: "a dying leader," not "a leader who dies" or similar. I anticipate a story arc centering on finding a cure for the President -- perhaps Cylon organic technology is good for what ails you.

Season 1 ran in the U.K. (it was a joint co-production of some british studio I think) from September to December of 2004. U.K. fans saw the whole show before north america. Sci Fi channel in the U.S. was about 2 weeks ahead of Canada (they showed 2 episodes for the premiere and the finale was 2 episodes in 1 night). So in this instance Space was not that far behind at all. No word on when Space is airing the 2nd season, but Sci Fi will start airing season 2 this summer (season 2 is longer and hasn't been shot yet). Awesome gritty sci fi, though. I love the relative silence during space battles, until something blows up!
