Omnibus is a compilation channel that will get signals from various stations for the purpose of demonstrating High Definition programming.

Who knows DD, they may add a few new HD channels with the free'd up bandwidth and the magic of some Cancom engineers

just remember that in the fall one transponder will go back to the 10 PPV channels where losing tomorrow. So we better hope that they get at least 3 or more transponders by the fall. If it's only 2, we will likely only see CityHD and ABC West get added back.

I hear it's CBC + TSN to be added in September - more if Telus is the new owner of SC.

It's all speculation at this time, and even if they enter into an agreement, it will take months for approval by the CRTC and several more to implement the changes

I've got a question about tomorrows changes. What if you've chosen Boston and Spokane as your U.S. network feeds? Will you get the 'new' HD channels or will you have to change your SD choices to Seattle and Detroit to get access to the new channels? P.S.-I'm still within the first week of my 500 ownership. What's TMN?

King 5 news at noon pst time. Very strange as it keeps flipping back from HighDef to standard. Weird. Is this a broadcasting issue or ???

I think the in-studio stuff uses hi def but any time they show footage "from the field" it'd be using older cameras. Just a guess.

Hmm well both camera angles I noticed were in studio :o . They went from the woman (highdef) to the man (standard) LOL, strange technology I would say.

Thanks

Everytime I watch KING news, the only HD portion is in studio, and they always seem to be 2 seconds late flipping the 4:3 to 16:9 switch. The logo goes from KING5 to KING5 HD in the corner.

Also missing (which ExpressVu provides):
CTV-HD
Global-HD
CityTV-HD
WGN-HD
Discovery-HD
TSN-HD

It looks like you are 8 High Definition Channels short of what is required for comprehensive HD coverage.

WGN-HD and CityTV-HD would be my 2 picks if they were to add any extra channels. It appears that I would not see Smallville in HD. One of my favourite shows! Charmed is another one I would not see in HD with the new HD channel lineup.

If I was to add two it would be CityTV and TSN. TSN is a must.

I disagree, Tsn is not a must. Just because you like to watch sports it doesnt mean that everybody is the same.

With the crunch bandwidth I think it makes more sense to add channels that provide variety.

That's true, but one of SC concerns is not to lose customers due to lack of HD. Of the channels not provided by SC, TSN is the main one that could make customers switch. Not everyone likes sports, but die hards who like CFL, World Junior Hockey, and more Jays in HD, might be tempted to goto Bell or Rogers.

There's gotta be something for everyone - and people who don't hang out in Internet Forums are busy watching sports! Friday night CFL football will be in HD this year. TSN is a must!

I see SC has added 2 HDef channels at the expense of 16 SDef ppv channels.

If that's the ratio, it's a big cost of bandwidth for HD.

the maximum number of channel that they can put per transponder is 2,
That's why they had to remove all the ppv channel.
