Thats odd. I'm in Manotick station and we'vew had 860 for sometime now. Yet Manotick is about 5=10 mins away and they don't.

Does this upgrade include Cumberland Village?

Fallowfield is closer to the Ottawa core than Greely! I'm hoping this is true...!

I'm in Cumberland just off Dunning by the Arena and I can confirm that

Hi:

Only 3 1/2 year later than first promised.

Now, if I can get a good deal to leave Bell.

OK, so I'm pretty much a n00b when it comes to HD ... but also located in Heidelberg like rjmarsha. So would the much-unloved 600 MHz service be why I can't get HD TSN -- it's not even listed in the channel guide? :(

Yes sir, that's exactly why.

slecompte: Are you saying that ROD, time-shifting and a dozen or so more HD channels are now available to you?

I am still waiting....

Artologik

P.S. Will the channels suddenyl show up, or do I have to cycle my digi-box by unplugging it and such?

Hi Artologik

Yes - the channels just showed up late last week - unannounced.

During the two restless nights I noticed our cable service was unavailable and I just had a hunch that the upgrade was underway so I kept checking in the 500 range as well 300 for ROD and then Thursday morning everything was there and operational.

The bummer now is I have to subscribe to the HDTV Specialty Channel Pack for an additional $7.95/month to receive HD TSN among other channels (HD Discovery, A&E HD, HD Net, HD ABC Seattle, HD CBS Seattle, HD NBC Seattle, and HD Fox Seattle.

Before the upgrade we had no ROD, but we did have the HD channels for TSN, Sportsnet, ABC and CBS. To anyone that is still on 600mhz service be sure to check in the 500 range for potential surprises.

Steve

Hey tomh009 if they do actually upgrade all of the Ottawa region we could be the last man standing..

Keeping the hope alive.

BTW I am due for my 6 month call to Rogers to complain. Anyone want to bet if I get the 'you will be upgraded in 6 months' or the 'we can't confirm you will ever be upgraded'.

Hmmm, maybe I should make a call, too. Do you just call the dreaded 888-ROGERS1 number or is there a better option?

Really don't want to get a dish ... but I do want my F1 coverage in HD!

Just the standard support numbers. We have gotten as far as level 2 in the past, but more often than not now we just annoy the first person and give up for six months.

I found a card from Uncle Ted in my mailbox yesterday ...
Upgrading to server you better

Over the next month we are upgrading the Rogers Cable equipment in your area. You may experience an interruption to your Television and/or Internet services. Outages will be kept to a minimum during the hours of 6 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday. We may require entry to your yard to access our equipment.

This upgrade will improve the reliability of your service. If you already have Personal TV, you have been receiving 100% digital-quality picture and sound for some time. As well, in the near future, you will have access to Rogers On Demand, more High-Definition digital programming and Rogers Home Phone.

We apologize for this temporary inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Could it be that we are getting 860 MHz here, too, finally?

I was told ROD was only available on the 860 lines, so sounds like good news.

Though I have been waiting 2 days to log in and see why the outages have been so bad. Now I know.

Looks like the upgrade is active for me. (Cumberland).
At least I can now order the Roger's home phone via the Roger's web site based upon my postal code.

Still waiting in Navan....

I wonder how many spokes they have around the fiber loop?

cyberbry

Which fiber loop?

The fiber loop (huge circle around the city) is how they first laid the network around Ottawa.
Now I assume with all the upgrades, there must be fiber everywhere.

So in the Navan area, we should be upgraded during the week of Oct. 29 as stated in their nice letter to everyone in the area. (Bell customers included ;))

So here's to Rogers and being part of the 860Mhz family.

Also got my letter on Friday OCt.26, saying that on, or around October 29, we would be "blessed" with full-digital service, including ROD, time-shifting, etc.

Looks like CR rep I spoke to was correct! Can't wait to go home tonight and check it out! If I have full digital, I will phone and complain that I want a refund for the last few months I was paying for full service but getting 60% only.... Who knows?
