Hi I have a Samsung 42 Inch having convergence issues i tried putting in new ICs myself and checking resistors with no success.
I see the partstore has my whole board for $84 but they won't ship to Canada. The tell me i have to order it from best buy who sells it for $240.
Does anyone know where you can get this board ?

Thanks for the info sbrown1964.

Of course my service manual was under the 'members only' section, but for $2.00/mo., it was kind of a no-brainer in the event I wanted one for my Hitachi 61SWX12B... -TD

Gents,
Thank you all for the goodies that I found thru these posts... I have a 61" Hitachi and it has the same convergence issue w/ the Blue. I tried to fix it but at this point I just about to give up. Let me summarized quickly my current issue and hope you guys may have some ideas: when I entered the Magic Focus, I would only see the STATIC MODE displayed.. so followed the info in these posts, I pressed the Blue button and it got me into the 'grid'... I can adjust the vertical line but my horizontal line will not move...(I think "57" had said that is because some ICs in my unit were definitely shot)... further I tried to ROM saved (I pressed PIP MODE (twice) to confirm ROM WRITE and got the green dots, just like the service manual described) then MUTE ...then when I next pressed the PIP MODE -> PIP CHANNEL, the screen displayed an error msg A/D Level 1 , Error Number 1 5. And the only way to get back the TV is to press the Blue button again.. and pressing Magic Focus again would still get me back to STATIC MODE again and nothing else.... sound like something was indeed 'shot' in my board. I read posts on replacing ICs and amps, etc..but I don't know what they look like and where/which boards in the back of the TV that they are located...any further guidance is greatly appreciated.

Read post 1 of this thread and the links in that post which shows what things look like, procedures, etc. Also read that you need to not only replace all the convergence ICs, but that you should replace the appropriate resistors and check the board for cracks. Parts can be purchased as a kit - link in post 1.

So, I have begun work on replacing the resistors, all ready got the IC's done. I downloaded a copy of the schematics, so if anyone needs any help on those feel free to let me know/shoot me a PM. Hopefully this will fix the problem...will let you know when it is all said and done.

I just got done replacing IC's and replaced 4 resistors not I need to readjust the
convergence. Can I do this without a remote control?
my brother inlaw gave me the tv for free with no remote.

Thanks

All right....so I replaced the IC's and the resistors, and yipee! it turns on, but the convergence is WAY off and there is no sound? The blue is the problem, everything else seems to be fine. The blue is completely off, like BAD off, crazy waves and in magic focus the red moves, and the blue starts to move, but it starts shaking pretty wildly when it gets near the center square. Also, it doesn't have a nice cross hatch with four lines around it like the red, instead it has a really messy cross hatch and the lines are kind of everywhere. And the sound doesn't work...thoughts or ideas? Thanks!

Edit: Here are some photos of what it is doing. I have also included a photo of a random wire which was soldered onto the bottom of the board when I got the TV? Does this look like it belongs or...?

Thanks again.

If you need to do a DCAM convergence - usually recommended, then you'll need a remote. Perhaps you can borrow one?

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=9539

Edit - just looked at your model number and it may not have the DCAM, just the 9 points. If that's all you have and you can access those without the remote, then perhaps you're OK.

Murphster05: When that happens, it's often due to a bad solder somewhere - perhaps shorted at the IC, or a bad resistor, or cracked solder. If you can't find the problem yourself, then you may need service, or scrap the TV...

57 - that drastic? You think this thing is that bad? I don't know anything about it but I have the service manual, is there any chance you think? Do you know anything about that green wire underneath the board? Thanks!

talked to a tech, said it is probably my digital convergence unit which means i am royally screwed. Thoughts on what to do with the rest of the TV :-) ?

Hello. I am new to this forum. I have taken the time to read through this post before submitting my questions. Any help would be appreciated. I am having convergence issues with a recently purchased set. I bought it of a friend, military, who had to get rid of it. He informed me of the issue, which at the time could probably have been fixed by the steps in this forum, however, I started before reading.
The issue, I've tried step by step manual convergence, howevr when tried the blue line does not show up. So when I tried to have Rom write an Overload code resulted. Now when the blue button is pressed I can only get into Magic Focus Static mode.
My questions are:
1. Why is the blue line not appearing?
2. Is it possible to reset the television and start over?
3. If not how do I get pass magic focus static mode?
4. Can I still perform a manual convergence from the static mode?
5. If so, how would I go about doing that?

Thanks for all the information posted in this forum. I am glad I found it, better late than never.

Once you are in static mode, if you press the little blue button (on the chassis - I assume that's the one you're referring to) that should take you to the DCAM convergence. However, if there is no blue line, you may have a blue CRT issue, or any one of a number of things so that the blue is not firing. Here's a link to the DCAM convergence.

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=9539

Fixing the convergence IC issue may repair the blue problem, but it may not.
