I do not know where they are on the Panasonic. There is a link in post 1 to a site that sells the "kits" for various TVs. Those are the resistors that need to be changed.

OK thanks. I hope I didn't fry my new ICs :)

The part number is located in a service manual - you'll perhaps need to purchase - either online or from a service outllet. There is a link to a place that sells the required parts in post 1 of this thread.

After reading page-after-page-after-page.......of info, I have almost confirmed without a doubt that I have the same issue everyone else is having. I will order the parts (kit) from one of the indicated links.
Thanks to everyone who has put in their $.02. Every additional tid-bit helps.
I will let you know what my results are once I have the items installed.

Parts upgrade. Does anyone know if the new kits from Hitachi. contain
the newer 180 ic or are they pushing the 150 160's,
if they are using the 180, or if we can, would that change any of the
resistor sizes Ohm's. be nice to find a Permanent fix for this manuf.
poor cooling defect.

I believe that it's the 160s that are recommended for replacements of the 110s in Hitachis.

In Ottawa you should be able to source the resistors and amps at Gervais Electronics on Industrial. I picked up their last amp for my 53UDX10B but they called to let me know they had another one in.

I read some place Hitachi says to use 160 rather than 150 on replacement for 120 all stk392". the spects show the design voltage on the 120's is higher
44v than on the 110 or 150, both 38v ..for a 43fdx10b. It came with 120's. The amps rating is higher on the 120 than the 110. but the 150 is also higher than the 110. Is the voltage rating a factor? did it change on the board or was the higher rating, just to help stave off the cronic failures,
Reason ordered from tectrionics. Hitachi kit x480295, comes with stk392-150, only other kit. Had Hated stk392-110.
what are the choices here? fly blind, buy 120's extra time down and expence. or will it work for a while ???

thanks, i actually found gervais on my own and picked up two 150's on sat morning. my 46f500 had a 110 and a 150 in it, replaced both with the 150's, didnt replace any resistors and the tv is working perfectly.

I just got my replacement parts in the mail yesterday. I will begin the repair tonight and see how it goes. The picture is not terrible as it is, but you can see a definate misplacement of the red image. I will try and remember to get a before & after shot of the same image for comparison. Thanks to all who have taken the time to fill in the blanks and make suggestions on this forum.

The TV is unwatchable if the chips are blown. If you can still watch the tv you may not have the same problem. Check out the other pics in this thread. It looks to me like a 3D movie and you should be wearing special glasses to watch it.

great board. I got my kit, came with 160e chips, 6 resistors, all marked with part #'s ...instructions where to put each in by PART #. Checked, with Ohm meter, each after looking at color bands were WRONG. Resistance was changed on most. Beyond 5% tolerence. This is Clearly a change by Hitachi That they are NOT telling people, who buy from other, than from them.
What will happen if you go with the old, who?? knows. be carefull.
cost me $47 US from Tritronics, with ups.
Pic great. But problem with size it shrinks in the middle. less height than at ends..top and bottom. Like slight Moon rise. any idears, on what I might, have done wrong on convergence board. This 43fdx10b is a NON magic focus "early set ,;)" so set up is different.

I have a Hitachi 43FWX20B.in the service manual it lists stk392-110 BUT everyone is saying 150 are an upgrade to 110
I installed the 150 ICs being extra carefull not to short any pins put everything back turned the tv on and a little smoke came from near the 2 ICs I just replaced.it was so fast I didn't have time to see where it came from.I inspected the board visually and nothing seemed burnt.
I try to intialize magic focus first time it gave me "over flow in red"and second time I tried I get "connect2 no45"message in red.
before replacing the parts I was getting error code 5 on green
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Did you replace the appropriate resistors as recommended in post 1 of this thread and check for cracked solder?

I did not know I had to replace any resistors
I thought 150 were a direct replacement of 110
I am not sure which resistors had to be replaced

My start button on my 42 Hitachi tv is flashing. My wife tried to turn it on and now this is all it will do. No picture no sound. Is it finished? Help please!

This is a thread about convergence ICs. Here's a list of things to check.

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=19694

It could just be a problem with the switch, but service may be required, or the flashing could indicate a code of what's wrong - call Hitachi service if there's a code for the flashing.

When I first began looking for a solution to the convergence problems with my 53fdx01B from Hitachi I thought the posts here would solve my problem and they did sort of. When the TV first started having issues I tried doing a manual convergence using the joystick on the remote. I notice the Blue line was not straight and moved diagonally from upper left to lower right. It also was curved in some spots.

I bought the kit and replaced all the components. The blue is no longer curved but it still is diagonal. The convergence mode appears to only move perfectly horizontal and vertical lines. How can I correct the diagonal problem?
