Thanks to The Hulk for the reply. Links to both DRC450 & DRC800 remotes are found in earlier posts.
I think the following might work (I will try tonight):
1) Press and hold the "Cable" button at the top of the remote.
2) Wait until all the device types light up in sequence
3) Type in the code 994. The "Cable" button will blink twice
4) Type in the code 0173 (for 30 second Skip)
5) Press whatever button you want to map the skip (suggest A, B, or C)
This did not work - it didn't respond to the 994 - it's looking for 4 keystrokes. 0173 at this point doesn't register though. I think I'm close to a solution. I might try to e-mail Motorola support.
Edit: Couldn't e-mail Motorola support, as registration gives you error. Called the toll free line. They can't give any programming information - you have to go through the "provider", who in turn would contact Motorola's ISP Dept. Presumably, they would send a firmware update to program the additional keys??? If you read the Users Guide, the ABC buttons are noted as programmable by provider... Back to trial & error.

I have the Eastlink version of the DCT6412, and have tried to program my URC6131 to have a 30-second skip. I gone through the process to set a key to EFC code 173, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I've tested some known codes and the process does work, so I know I'm doing the key reprogramming right. If there are anyone reading this thread that get cable from Eastlink, I'd appreciate any info you can provide on this subject. BTW, I emailed Eastlink tech support but did not get an answer.
Thanks!

This doesn't work anyone anymore since the new I-Guide came out. It was disabled with the new software. Isn't commercial skip one of the most used features on DVR's?
The 15 second step backwards still works and Thank God fast forward still works.
I HATE COMMERCIALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting pretty good at using fast forward in combo with the 15-second rewind. It doesn't surprise me that they disabled the 30-second skip, but you would think they'd realize that everyone will just use fast forward instead...
