: Old CBC HD (Official thread) 2005 to May 2006.
stampeder 2005-04-07, 07:57 PM Come Fall, when we expect to fire up a Vancouver HD transmitter (currently September timeframe)...Will you use the Montreal and Toronto experiences as a template for bringing up the other HD stations in rapid succession, or is each setup going to require its own set of one-time tasks? Is there a pattern to the HD transmitter plan, such as Atlantic to Pacific? It can't be based on market area or else why would the third largest population centre in the country be taking so many months longer? Thanks again for getting back to us.
cheers,
stampeder

This is excellent news to this Vancouverite's ears! Can't wait to be able to watch CBC HD evening programming without having to skive off work early to catch the eastern feed. :)
I do manage to catch the occasional show, like last night's This Is Wonderland, which was looked and sounded wonderful. Great work, CBC!

slayer1185 2005-04-09, 01:23 AM If you used a PVR box than you could record the easten feed and watch it later.
stampeder 2005-04-09, 03:52 AM If you used a PVR box than you could record the easten feed and watch it later.I think you'll find that many of us have already been using SD PVRs but are anxiously awaiting HD PVRs from our providers, as well as real time HD programming from our own time zone, such as sports and breaking news/events.

Frankbla88 2005-04-11, 07:52 AM mhyland I was wondering ?
Will Tout Le Monde en Parle be eventually be filmed in HD?
This must be the most watch show on SRC so I though it would make sense for it to be one of the first HD show...
Thanks for your time,
Frank
slayer1185 2005-04-12, 06:04 PM I have a HD PVR, the Motorola 6412, and we have Shaw Cable here in Calgary and we get the pacific time zone but most SD channels are pacific anyways. I get:
1. A shaw HD Channel
2. Movie Central HD
3. ABCHD
4. CBSHD
5. NBCHD
6. PBSHD

I don't really know, as I work for English TV... I think Radio-Canada has one HD studio currently and it would depend on the usage of that studio etc. I'll try to find out when I next talk to my colleagues from Montreal...
The CBC HD web site (http://www.cbc.ca/hdtv/) now has what I assume is a weekly downloadable PDF HDTV schedule.
I had a look at the schedule - the only show this week in HD is tonight's Passionate Eye. Other shows in the listings are widescreen, but not HD.
The Globe gave a great review of tonight's HD show, though the reviewer (John Doyle) didn't see it in HD.
BTW if you go to the regular www.cbc.ca web site, there is nothing mentioned at all about HD. There are no links to the HD site. It's as if HD never happened!
I emailed CBC about this when the HD channel was first launched but I never got any response back.

Is there some kind of similar website for Radio-Canada?

Radio-Canada does not need that sort of thing; they have nothing to broadcast in HD and nothing to show in widescreen.

VuMax 2005-04-14, 12:43 PM They also show at least two regular series in HD.
yipikyer 2005-04-18, 11:18 AM When will they update the list? A new week has begun...
robcreaser 2005-04-20, 07:00 PM It would be nice if they would also learn how to change the CBLT/CBLFT OTA PSIP Clocks. DST change was a couple of weeks ago. They are still an hour out.

The word is: we have "been unable to get information from Thales, the manufacturer, about the process for setting it. It appears to be some sort of obscure setting that we are not able to get at. Everything we have tried has not worked. We are on it."
I'll keep you posted.
Also, sorry the HD schedule on CBC.ca/hdtv has not been updated. I provided it last Friday, but it is still not updated. The new one will be produced (and hopefully published) tomorrow.
There are two widescreen SD programs tonight, Wild Australasia at 19:00, which will be pre-empted for some period by the PM's statement, and Chasing Freedom at 20:00.
robcreaser 2005-04-21, 02:03 PM Thanks for the update. Your doing much better in this aspects then your friends at CTV whose clock is many hours off and is sending no PSIP info other then CFTO channel 40.
