: Dumbest Question (HBO)

I used the search feature to find the answer to this question so that I wouldn't look so stupid but I couldn't find any concrete answer so I'm posting here to find out:

I mainly watch television for a few shows:

1. Six Feet Under
2. Sex and the City
3. Oz

I have to have Bravo to get Sex and the City. I have to have TMN to get Six Feet Under and I have to have Showcase to get OZ. So I have to order 3 separate channels in Canada just to get my three favourite shows whereas if I lived in the U.S., I would only need one channel, HBO.

Why can we not have HBO in Canada? I am a Roger's Cable customer and I can't ask Mr. John Tory this question until the Online with Rogers show comes back on the air.

Any help is appreciated.

If you want HBO boxing, you need TSN (not all fights are available in Canada). If you want Dennis Miller, you need the Comedy Channel. If you want Taxicab confessions, you need the Documentary Channel.

The list goes on and on and on.

Of course, not all shows are available in Canada.

It's funny that TMN promotes itself as "The Best of HBO".

Why are not all fights on HBO not come on TSN? Is there some sort of deal where TSN gets to choose a certain amount of fights they can broadcast or does HBO tell them what fights they can broadcast?
How does this work?

THANKS

My guess is TSN can't justify paying the cost HBO would wan't for all of it's fights.

Some HBO fights are actually on PPV in Canada. Not every fight is between two big names in boxing.

I imagine TSN shows the fights that they want. I'm not sure who decides about which fights end up on PPV.
