I don't want to sound like a parrot, but my wife was exactly the same way.

I can certainly see not caring about something like surround sound, but the HD thing is a big deal for anyone I have talked to. Just be honest with yourselves and give it the old college try.

Hi
Just like to find out if you're still satisfy with your Prima LCD after using it for half a year? I'm currently thinking about getting the 32" but can't find too much info anywhere. Any comments after using it for half a year?

thanks,

I am VERY satisfied. It does everything I need it to do and the PQ is to my liking.

I am considering purchasing a 32" Prima Widescreen LCD HDTV but am concerned about this manufacturer as I have not heard much about them. The price is quite a bit better than the big manu's and am wondering if it is the old adage 'you pay for what you get". I am interested in hearing from anyone that has had one for a while. And also some hints about what to look for in features.

There are two Prima 32" LCD TVs...

LC-32UG16X0C-P (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10064778&catid=)

LC32RG25X-OC-P (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10068443&catid=)

I'm leaning toward the later. Faroudja DCDi, better contrast ratio, headphone jack (the set will be for our bedroom), etc. My wallet is itching right now... Can hardly control it.

Hi,

Sears has the 27" Prima on sale next week for $899. Looking at getting one (maybe two) for the new house. Any recommendations on wall mount units? Something with tilt/swivel ability would be nice.

I could only find it for $999 at Sears. Where did you see it for $899?

I got it Monday, boxing day
I got it at the Sears outlet store on WOnderland / Oxford road in London Ontario.

It was marked down repeatedly, last markdown was $1100. The boxing day deal was 30% off the $1100 - PLUS no tax. So, I got everything for $750 total!!

The model number is...
Prima LCD 27"
LC-27K16
Sears Item Number: 570 814 725 10

http://www6.sears.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&categoryId=20816&langId=-1&rrc=1&productId=158214674

I did not get a box for my tv....so we packaged it at the back of the store - the only box I did get was for the brackets...

Hope this helps...!!:)

I was talking to thye local Sears store about your deal. They can't even come close. He said what you bought was a floor display item that was already a year old. He said you got that because it was old inventory. My comment to him was it didn't matter if it was old inventory or not, he basically got a brand new tv at half price. Either way, he can make a match price. You got the LC27K16, they only sell the LC27U16 (newer inventory). I can't track down yet what the differences might be. The Sears site is crap for info.

Well if its an old model no longer available, then perhaps they should remove it along with the order number from their website!
ALso, you are right - the tv may be an older model, but it's still a new tv.
Wonder what they do with all the older stuff that they don't sell, ship it back to the dealers??

about the missing DVI/HDMI - you're right... but on the other hand the TV takes 1280x720 Progressive from my PC via VGA, so I'm able to watch DVD, DivX or anything else from my PC in 720P (1280x720 is the native resolution of this TV).

The computer treats the TV as a regular VGA LCD monitor, so no hassles like with CRT based TVs ;-)

Hey there Atari!

Forgive me for dredging up such an old thread, but I am possibly close to buying a FP LCD and if I do, it will be connected to a MCE HTPC.

I am wondering how seamless your experience was connecting the TV to the computer. Did you have to frig with anything? Was the resolution a tight match? (Overscan/Underscan)

Thanks,
Jason.

the resolution is a 100% match. 1280x720@60 Hz Progressive. No under or overscan. Basically the computer treats the "TV" as any other analogue LCD monitor (I'm using VGA connection).

I needed to install and configure PowerStrip application though ... to get the best resolution, refresh, etc as Windows by itself is too stoopid to do this on its own :-) ... You would get an OK picture (no over/underscan) without any additional software, but you wouldn't get the best picture possible that way ... hence the need for fine tuning via PowerStrip.

cheers

Thanks for the reply!

The new 25 series 27" Primas have a native resolution of 1366 x 768, so I am sure "My Mileage May Vary", but I am sure that it will be fairly consistent.

27" LCD TV LC-27U16 (http://www.primaamerica.com/calc27u16.asp)

1366x766 resolution

I bought this (http://www.primaamerica.com/calc27u16.asp) TV today for the sole purpose of using it as a monitor.

I Hooked it up to my PC and it works rather well, however when I change the resolution on my pc the TV resolution (display) claims it to be different, and there is no option to make it 1366x766.

Funny thing is it allows me to change the resolution to as high as 1950xXXX but then the screen becomes very shaky.

Any explanations or solutions anyone could offer would be helpfull.
