I guess there are bigger issues than two TSCs in the guide. I was just wondering.:)

thanks ryans.

No problem, it was probably my fault as I over-complicated the issue. Yeah, its silly, but...I guess that's how it goes for now ;).

Psst....;)

When these additions like new channels and HD hit our area up here, could you give me (or others) a heads up?;) I can't depend on the website, they have got to get those changes done soon. I don't have an HD set....yet...but would like to see it available. Oh yeah, an I-guide update would be nice too, might fix the REW/FF issues on the digital channels.

Some of the CSRs are telling other customers here that the 6412s aren't available here....my father-in-law wants one and is being told he can't get it yet. He HAS an HD set but is aware that HD isn't turned on yet up here. He likes the DVR functions. He lives about 4 kms away. Maybe there is a tech reason that I don't know about.

Sorry If I seem to be rambling....

persona custumer service rep told me today that the timmins upgrade has begun(sport paks , hi def) but said his supervisor couldnt commit to telling me when it would be completed .

I'm moving out of my apt. which doesnt allow sat dishes in july into my own home . So , persona has until july to confirm that they'll have the sports paks for me come oct otherwise its back to satellite for me .

It sure is nice to know that it has finally started. The last video services that were added were the Timeshift Pac (US West) and Court TV and that was over 2 years ago.:o

Is Sudbury actually 100% digital yet?

I'm actually impressed with what persona has compared with bell as far as the typical channels are concerned -and when the upgrade is done which will contain the sports paks/hi def channels they might even be a cut above bell because of the bundling with internet and the simplicity of not having a dish to babysit .

in saying that however , its been too long of a wait already for many people wanting hi-def and the sports paks

I emailed them on Sunday night (6/18) regarding the FOX and PBS change that occurred in Sudbury and to see if it will change here and to find out about 100% digital and when we can ever hope to see it. Strangely, I've yet to get a reply.

unfortunately for Persona I will be leaving them for Bell .

I like the idea of simplicity with Persona , especially bundling internet and no need for a dish . However, they are apprently still over a year away from adding center ice pkg / HDTV to the Timmins area and I cant go without any longer ;especially now that I have the option to put up a dish and drill holes wherever I please in my own home ;)

once my two year sign up with bell expires I will definately look into going back to persona if they have the upgrade done by then .

Sadly,I get one story from a CSR as to when their upgrade is to start/complete in Timmins , another from a technician and yet another from someone in marketing .

I hope you enjoy Bell.;) We were looking at it this time last year.

Just got our cable bill in the mail today....uPic10 going up $3/month starting July 1st.

They charge us more but we get nothing in return......:(

couch... hope you're enjoying the dish.

I don't even know what to believe anymore with them.:o

Looking at the July 2006 newsletter on the website, I'm left with the impression that we could have "more services" soon. They mention they are getting ready to roll-out the "upgrade to digital for a buck" thing they have going in Sudbury, into a number of other communities. I'd have to believe we are among them....they don't have THAT many systems with digital services especially ones that would be ready to all digital.

I've emailed them three times in the last 5 weeks and never got an answer. I guess I could just call them and whine.... Of course, my second message was to complain at the price change...not that it would do a lot but still felt good.

Probably what is holding us back from BEV, is the upfront cost of installation, activation and getting started you know? We would probably look at renting the 9200 even though we don't even have a HD set yet. It's the only dual-tuner now.

I know Persona is in Sudbury and Timmins, but when you looks at all the places they are at (BC, AB, SK, MB, ON, NFL, etc.) They are in all of these little towns. I live in Brandon MB, and they service a 200 person town 30 minutes away from up, what is the purpose, they don't provide digital or internet to these small small towns, so most people are on satellite anyways, if they wanted to make revenue in these small markets, drop the cable, and provide High Speed Internet.

denben , I'm enjoying bev so far ...had a poor installer come and do the install (very messy job, far from professional)but I'm impressed with the channel lineup and naturally cant wait to watch hockey via the center ice pkg .

bev gave me around 120 bucks worth of programming credits to make up for the poor installation

I'm not trying to push you towards bev , but you might find it worthwhile to go the rental route like me ...this way there are no up front costs and there are other incentives that bring the overall cost down to pretty much 10 -15 bucks a month cheaper than persona's upic 10 pkg

couch.....may I ask who did your install??? Or a hint so I can avoid that "one" if I need to?;)

Rental sounds OK.....we will see. It probably won't happen until spring for BEV, if it happens.

Persona has adds on the radio starting today about upgrading to digital for a buck a month. This is the same promotion they have going on in Sudbury and they are 100% digital I believe. Oh, we actually got a mail flyer at work from them with the same thing. Could we be getting some good news?;) I won't hold my breath though.

it was two fellas from a small town outside of Timmins that did the install, I'll leave it at that .

no idea why they dont have someone from timmins actually doing timmins installs:confused:

I guess Persona doesn't give a crap about us here in Timmins. I noticed at the Canadian Cable & Satellite Database website http://www.mcquarrieweb.ca/canada/persona.asp?Location=SUD that Sudbury got some new channels about a month or so ago. 10 to be exact. What gives??? Meanwhile our upgrades are put on hold, no idea when we can see something new here according to the CSRs.

Sudbury has more timeshifting (Timeshift of US west channels & distant Canadian OTA signals lumped together and greatly expanded into one from 2 packs of channels), Centre Ice, OHL, Sunday Ticket, NASCAR, 23 HD channels, numerous other specialty channels. I can keep going.:( The last addition to our line up was Court TV back in Feb. of 2004!

I googled new channels Persona Sudbury and found an article at the cartt.ca website http://www.cartt.ca/news/FullStory.cfm?NewsNo=3339 about the additions and clicked the link. When I found the article I was hoping that it may contain some info regarding when it could appear here. Yeah...sure.... I have to pay $77 a year to see one story.

I'm seriously considering to tell them to stick up their wazoo and switch to BEV. I do like my 6412 and its 15 day EPG but feel like I'm stuck in time with them.

Ok..;)

Looking back, I was a bit more peeved than I am now. I had emailed them how I felt and asked why the upgrades had stopped. They told me that the upgrades have since restarted up here.

As for the music info firmware bug in the dct6412, they say they are still working on it with TV Guide. It's going to seem like a new feature whenever we get it back.

I will admit that I am happy to be one of the few (from what I have seen on these forums) that actually receives 2 weeks worth of guide data on the pvr unit. That is actually the main reason we've never switched to EV, we've become spoiled at looking at listings a couple of weeks away, and setting up recordings that far in advance.:)

I guess we will just have to be patient and I'm sure it will be worth it whenever it happens.

i know what you mean.i've e-mailed and called them so many times and actually gotten different answers from the same people about when and if timmins is/was/supposed to/maybe/possibly be getting hi-def.i think they actually blacklisted me(they haven't answered my last couple e-mails ha,ha)i even stop to talk to persona dudes if i see their vans parked fingers crossed(i haven't even seen my t.v. in full hi-def for the first three years of it's life but now my son bought a 360 that i let him hook-up to the big t.v )
