Ya we just got the 4 SD channels, I don't understand why they wouldn't add the 2 HD ones also.

Called on Saturday to find out the price of Superchannel...

$15/month is the price after the preview ending on the 25th of January.:o

No thanks, at least not for now.

I was considering switching to Persona, but someone told me that thier recievers don't support HDMI? Is this true? Their webiste has zero information regarding this and when I called customer service they had no idea what I was talking about!

Not a great first impression! I know someone here will have an answer.

In Timmins I have seen a DCT6416 PVR that has HDMI. I doubt there would be a guarantee that would get that as your PVR. It's probably hit and miss as to what the tech has in the van when they come over. It may also depend on where you are located. If you are in Sudbury, you probably have a better chance of finding one.

The website is useless and should IMO be taken down.:( I have no idea if Eastlink has any plans in lauching a new site or not. As for the CSRs, they probably aren't trained enough. I've made them stop dead with a few questions I've asked. I think they believe everyone just tunes their TV to channel 3 with a DCT, you know? ;)

It's a company that seemed to be frozen in time for a few years.

Somone else here might be able to add something

If your in Sudbury you should get a DCT6416 III which has HDMI out, myself and 2 friends who have switched in the last year have all gotten this PVR. Not sure if its the only one or if there's also another model and we got lucky. Now only if they would enable the USB for added storage.

When ordering your cable hookup just have the CSR specify on the work order that you would like a PVR with the HDMI connector on it. If you don't want the PVR then you'll have to use a DVI to HDMI converter cable with the DCT6200 HD box, but there has been reports of issues with some TV's when hooking up this way. Try the PVR and you'll never know how you lived without it!! :)

It's not the cable companies that decide which ports get turned on...it's Motorola and TV Guide. Trust me if the cable company could have a customer add more storage then they would probably do it.

About the PVR comment,

The idea of having to go back to regular TV watching and trying to record programs to...gasp...tape is scary.;)

You wouldn't go back to tapes. You would go "back" to a DVD recorder. None of my friends even have a VCR (include myself), i forget what they look like!!!!

Actually, I wouldn't.;) I never had a DVD recorder. It was something I was never interested in, strangely enough.

We have two VCRs, one hooked up to the main TV. It gets used maybe once a year if that. The other is on the second TV because there is no where else it would except for the trash or a yard sale.

They would not get replaced if they stopped working.;) Then again, can you even buy one anymore?

:mad:i know i've posted on here before about persona'stotal lack of everything.i've gotten so many different answers about hd channels coming to timmins for the past 5-6 yrs.even different anwsers from the same people less than 2 months later and then they say where did you hear that?ahh...in an e-mail that YOU sent me.i even e-mailed one of their replies to me that said we would get hdtv a couple months after sudbury got it(back to the same person that said that there were no plans ever for timmins to get hdtv)denben i know what you feel like.this sucks.they don"t even anser my e-mails anymore(i guess i'm blacklisted haha.my brother felt the same way and he got bev and couldn't be happier.i guess that'll be my next step but then i wouldn't have nothing to complain about.i'm just so dissapointed about all these different answers i've gotten over the past 5-6 years...it's really getting old

I still get replies when I email them. I do it about every 2 months or so. I'm due to send one very soon, come to think of it.;) I can go back and see posts I've made from as far back as 2005 in regards to HD, and more SD stuff. I got told "soon" or "in a few months" and even a few "by the end of this year" answers.

I want to believe that with TSN2 and Superchannel being added since mid-December that it's starting to finally look a bit more promising. I do realize that they added those channels using the space that became open when the PPV channels got reduced from Shaw Broadcast and a couple of others that have gone silent. On the positive side it is better than not doing anything.

The website makes it look like we are stuck in time. Info is out of date, incomplete and of little use. Gee, maybe that should be the subject of my next email. ;)

One other thing, is it still the "Amazing Persona"???? It is still on the site (no surprise), when you call them, the lady says it and some of the ads running on PersonaTV and the TV Guide channel have it and some others have just the word Persona with "An Eastlink Company" underneath it.

I find "making it even more informative and user friendly" very funny. Even more? It was never informative!

:)

Let's hope for some big improvements!

Just an FYI, Persona officialy will become "Eastlink" effective April 5th. They have come a long way from the "Northern Cable" Days. I remember when cable finaly came to Levack..13 channels and nothing on!

I happened to be calling them today for another issue and I noticed the voice prompts and greetings are all changed. When I asked about "anything new" coming our way soon up here, she said nothing between now and June but did say that the "Persona" brand is being dropped within 2 weeks. That would put it to April 2nd - 16th. The only ? I have about the 5th is that's a Sunday. It would seem like a strange day to do but you never know. I know the billing system is being changed for the end of this month and my monthly rate has been "readjusted" and is now $6.77 less than before.

With the name change, I'm sure ther website will eventually close up and we will be all at their other site in time. It seems to have lots more info than persona.ca. Actually now that I think about it, that wouldn't take much.

These might not be exactly the changes I'm been looking forward to but at least they are now showing signs of life.;)

I'm just hoping for VOD (mostly MovieNetwork VOD)!!!

We are at least 5 years behind for that! It's been on Rogers for years, not sure how long EastLink has had that.

So this switch is looking like good news for us! I hope!

If you read the letter you will recieve from Eastlink, it mentions changes to come, including VOD. No time line, just a mention.

Cool...:) I'll keep an eye out for a letter.

"Mentions" are still better than what we used to get.;)

Hey....

If anyone from Persona reads this forum, could they check the simsub computer's time please????? This is in regards to the Timmins system.

They are switching about a minute late it seems. I'd call in and complain but I'm not too crazy about being made to feel like I'm insane by the CSRs.

The Eastlink logo is now showing in our IPG. The changeover is in progress.

I'm waiting to see if the TV Guide listings channel (13) gets redone and see if our community access channel gets re-branded again. It was "The Box", then "BX-One", then "My Town", then "PersonaTV", then "Channel 3 News", then "Persona 3 News". All that since 1999.;)
